ownload our “Bow Tie Ring Pillow” template and print two
copies. Cut out the shapes along the lines with scissors.
•L
ay the templates on the back side of the fabric. Trace with a
white pencil, and cut out the shapes with scissors.
•P
air up each shapes' front sides facing inward, and pin along
the edges.
•F
or each shape, hand sew along the edges, leaving 2 inches
open in the narrowest part of each bow shape. For the band,
leave one of the shorter ends open.
•T
urn each bow and the band inside out.
•S
tuff the bows loosely with batting.
•S
titch the bows closed, and stitch the band closed, too.
•S
tack the bows on top of each other, the smaller one on top.
•W
rap the band snugly around the center of the two bows.
Trim it to fit and stitch to the bottom of the connected bows.
•T
urn the bow over so it’s facing right side up, and loop a
matching cord under through the band and use that cord to
attach the rings to the pillow.

egin with a 12-by-16-inch sheet of waxed paper. Fold it in half
along its length; unfold. Deposit wax-crayon shavings (made
with a handheld pencil sharpener) evenly but not thickly across
one half of the paper. Fold the clean half of the paper over the
shavings. Crimp the three open edges with a ½-inch fold to
hold the shavings.
•P
rotect your ironing surface with kraft paper. Place the waxed
paper on the kraft paper, and cover it with another sheet of
kraft paper. Iron lightly on medium heat, checking after every
few passes. Stop when all the shavings have melted; let cool.
•N
ext, trace and cut out hearts of various sizes. String each
heart with a silk thread for hanging.

PISTACHIO VALENTINE WREATH

ut a symmetrical heart from paper (this one is about 8 inches
tall), then cut out the middle, leaving a heart-shaped ring with
inch-wide edges.
•T
race pattern onto thick cardboard for the wreath form
and onto red felt for the backing: Cut shapes out, and use
household glue to attach the felt to the form.
•C
olor the edges of the cardboard with a red felt-tip pen.
•H
eat up a glue gun, and glue pistachios to the cardboard
beginning at the V-shaped top of the heart and pointing the
open ends of the shells outward. Cover the entire cardboard
surface.
• In crevices between the rows of pistachios, dab hot glue to
secure pink peppercorns (available at specialty food stores).
•G
lue a picture hanger on the back, and loop ribbon through.

rint clip art onto standard-weight 11-by-17-inch paper (if your printer does not handle this size, copy
the clip art onto a disc or thumb drive, and take it to a copy shop or office-supply store with a printing
department).
•T
hen, cut the templates to fit various heights of square candle holders or vases (to shorten the
wrapper, cut away excess from bottom by the stem). Wrap around candle holders, and secure with
double-sided tape.
•T
o finish the bottoms, wrap green grosgrain ribbon around the candle holder, and secure with
double-sided tape.

he template without the crop marks is presized to fit data-label sticker paper (No. 800200,
http://www.Data-Labels.com). Just print, peel, and stick onto glassine bags.
•T
he template with crop marks is meant for use with regular 8½-by-11-inch sticker paper. Print, and cut
between the crop marks using a craft knife and a metal ruler (do not cut all the way to the edges of
the paper; this will leave the crop marks intact for subsequent cuts). Peel off backing, and stick onto
glassine bags.
•O
r, print on standard copy paper and adhere with double-sided tape.

ptional: Lightly dilute white paint with
water. Brush onto plywood; let dry.
•W
ith miter saw, cut PVC pipes to various
lengths (2 to 3½ inches). Sand one end of
each. To make trunk, cut a 1-foot-long piece
of 3-inch-diameter pipe in half lengthwise;
sand both long cut edges.
•O
ptional: Spray-paint all cut pieces of pipe.
•W
ith tape, create a 3-by-5-foot isosceles
triangle on plywood. Place pipe pieces within
perimeter, playing around with positioning to
get a layout you like.
•M
ix a quarter-size batch of epoxy. Remove a
piece of pipe from layout; use Popsicle stick
to spread epoxy on unsanded end. Replace
pipe, pressing down. Continue process,
mixing more epoxy as needed. Use epoxy to
attach trunk. Remove tape. Epoxy will dry
quickly but should be left to cure overnight.

ut wood strips in half to create twenty 12-inch strips.
•P
rint the Evergreen Wreath template. Using template as a
guide, create the base form: Cross 2 strips together and glue
with wood glue. Cross and glue a second pair the same way,
then glue the second pair to the first to form a base with 8
spokes. Let dry.
•C
reate the star points: Arrange a pair of strips into a V shape.
Glue the star point ends together, then glue the opposite ends
to the base tips (alternating the overlapping, as shown).
•C
ontinue gluing the wooden strip points around the base until
you have 8 star points.
•C
ut your greenery into pieces the same lengths as the sections
of the wooden strips (or use shorter or longer pieces of
greenery as necessary).
•H
ot-glue the cut greenery to the sticks.
