Overview
An overview of the past school
year by the current PTA chair :
Rachel Callander.
2012/2013 has been a great year with
so many new families joining ISGR. The
PTA’s aim is to create a community spirit
throughout the school and generate funds through
organizing events. The year started with a Welcome
BBQ at school in August, which gave all parents a
chance to meet new and old friends. The Winter Bazaar
in December was a huge success and included an
international cafe, international stalls, raffle, games and
more as well as fundraising for our chosen charities.
Discos for PYP were organized in October and April
where children could come along, have fun whilst
parents could socialize in the cafe. The social outings
for parents each month, ranging from City Tours to
Kayaking, created a wonderful way for parents to meet
up. In between all these great events, there were coffee
mornings, book clubs and other events as well as the
great newsletter that is produced each month. To finish
the year on the last day of term (Friday the 14th of June)
there will be an international picnic in Slottskogen, so
please come along and join in!
Welcome
to a new school year at ISGR
by the new PTA chair : Sarah
Loddick
2013/14 is the start of an exciting year
for us all and we will begin with a
welcome coffee morning on Monday
19th August for all parents. I, Sarah Loddick, would
like to introduce myself as the new PTA chairman and
I would like to welcome
all new families on
behalf of the PTA. We
welcome all parents to
get involved in the PTA
and any help you can
give will make a real
difference.
We look
forward to meeting you
all and working with

Lilla Göteborgs
Varvet
On May 13th, more than 4000
children ran the Lilla Göteborgs
Varvet at Slottskogen.
Many children from ISGR
participated, and they can be
really proud of their achievement!
Congratulations to all our
young runners.
Teacher Appreciation day
21st May 2013
Teacher appreciation is a feeling expressed
worldwide, because teachers are that special part
of the school community helping us all to grow up
and be better citizens.
We offered the teachers a special brunch with our
national dishes and baked goods.
We would like to thank all the wonderful parents
who cooked and baked to make this a very special
event, which was highly appreciated.
Appreciation coordinators: Atie (PYP) & Birgit (MYP)
Last Social outing of the school year 2012-2013 :
Canoeing on the stunning Delsjö lakes
Again many people joined us for this more sporty social outing.
And we were so lucky … blue sky and full sunshine… we could
not wish for better! We started early in the morning with taking
the canoes into the water, and then we took off …for some try
outs on the water. It was so much fun, the water was smooth
as a mirror and after some trial and error …we all reached the
beach for Fika, swimming and sunbathing. Sweden is great! …
The return was less smooth …one boat capsized .
We finished with a joyful lunch in Bertilssons Stuga, a hidden
treasure near lilla Delsjö (the treat after a big walk around the
lakes). Thanks everyone for this wonderful day, where we all
laughed a lot.!

PTA Finance
The PTA has raised money during the many fun
events, such as winter bazaar, disco’s, second
hand stall, book club and barbecue. We can say
that these events have been a great success and we
have raised almost 80,000 sek. This year donations
went to 8 iPad’s with covers for PYP and our charity
Bibijaan. The PTA donated as well to the MYP for
the grade 10 trip to Berlin, four academic awards
and audio and video equipment for their media
centre. There has also been money pledged for
the MYP playground and for Swedish books for the
Swedish lessons in the International section.
For the next school year we hope to be even more
successful than this year. The only way to make
this happen is to have as many parents involved as
we can. So please join the PTA.
