What is Family & Community Connection? We now offer Ages and Stages Questionnaire online!
Family & Community Connection (FCC) is a
Massachusetts Coordinated Family & Community
Engagement (CFCE) program serving families with
children from ages birth to 8 years of age. We provide
access to comprehensive services, child development
information, and educational opportunities to support
parents in their role as their child's first teacher.
The Family & Community Connection program serves
children and families in Haverhill, Amesbury,
Newburyport, Merrimac, Georgetown, Groveland
and West Newbury.
There is NO FEE to participate & NO income guidelines!
We do ask that you register to help prepare, but unless
required registration is noted, walk-ins are always
welcome!
The Ages & Stages Questionnaire is a great way to
support your child's development.
Family & Community Connection offers the ASQ FREE of
charge for all families in the communities we serve.
Parents and caregivers can now complete the survey at
home. The questionnaire is available for
children ages newborn through age 5.

Toddler Playgroup
Playgroups run daily Monday—Friday
9:30-11:30am
There is no cost for the community children
participating. Children must have had a physical within
the last year and all immunizations should be up to date.
We have openings in our integrated playgroups located at FCC in
Haverhill. These groups are composed of children in Early Intervention
and community children. This is a wonderful opportunity for children
between the ages 18-36 months to participate in a facilitated play group.
There is one teacher and two teacher assistants who lead a two hour
session that includes music, movement, sensory activities, free play,
books and snack. Children enjoy age-appropriate activities to encourage
turn taking. Children are offered many opportunities for social interaction,
physical development and language enrichment. ( If your child receives EI
services, please inquire with your service coordinator to register.)

Library Programs
“Giving Thanks, Pow Wow”
(Get creative with us as we explore activities
such as making our own Dream Catchers, a
Story Stick and little Teepees. We will have
some open dramatic, hands on play as well.
This program will end with a story time to
incorporate the “Story Stick” that your child
will create.)

gross and fine motor kills, social emotional skills
and early literacy. Have fun with art projects,
sensory and open end play, music, movement and
story time. This group encourages parents and
children to meet other families in the community.

This is a program for children who do not
attend a traditional preschool or
K-Readiness program. It gives children a
chance to learn important skills needed
for Kindergarten, such as:
*Alphabet/letter & Number recognition
*Recognizing name in print
*Writing Skills
*Social/Emotional Skills
K-Ready if for children ages 4-5 years old.
This program is currently FULL. Please call
to get added to the “Wait List”.

Join FCC in creating some Native
American cultural and traditional inventions. Children
will learn about and make their very own Dreamcatcher
and Rain Stick. Find out the origination of these
beautiful artifacts while having fun with art.

(Tell the front desk you are joining FCC for open gymnastics.
Gymnastics is located on the 3rd floor, elevators are available
for strollers. YMCA staff can bring you up if you're not sure
where to go :) No food in the gym, water only please.)

Come celebrate the joy of giving thanks. We will have
a great time making Native American themed vests
and necklaces, playing in our teepee and exploring
with other traditional musical instruments. We will
also enjoy tasting some items similar to the “The First
Thanksgiving” meal such as Corn Bread
w/ butter and cranberry sauce!!

FCC is excited to announce staff from the Haverhill Public
Library will come to our location for a Sensory Friendly
Story Time. This is a great experience for families to
enjoy with their children, and learn more about
our local library.
Community Action, Inc. (CAI) Energy programs can help you lower the high cost of your
heating and utility bills. You may be eligible for savings and discounts on your monthly National
Grid Gas and Electric bills. Check the Heating Assistance Income Guidelines for eligibility.

Dad’s Saturday AM Drop-In
Come to the Newburyport Rec Center and meet other dads and kids!
Dads, granddads, uncles and caregivers are invited to drop in and hang
out with their little ones. Meet some new
friends, bring the kids in pjs if you want! Earn
some points at home (aka let mom sleep in).

Fun in the Farmyard
Experience Appleton Farms anytime of day with Fun
in the Farmyard! Drop by our Carriage Barn anytime
between 10am-3pm on Sundays to experience life on
the farm and meet some of our friendly farm animals.
Activities are partially self-guided and can include
farm crafts, games, story time, playing with the goats,
meeting a chicken and more. This event is free and
recommended for ages 2-6, but all are welcome!

When: Sunday (6th, 13th, 20th & 27th) in November
Who: Families of Children ages 2-6 years old
This is a FREE, drop –in program!!
Get ready for a giant maze of sparkling holiday trees, stage and ice skating
performances, visits with Santa, our Giant Gingerbread House display, Gift and
Sweet shop, and Festival Café. Enjoy this 15-day wonderland at the Blue Ocean
Event Center at: 4 Oceanfront North, Salisbury Beach, MA.

No Cook Play Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups plain Flour
1 cup salt
1 tbsp. oil (canola or vegetable)
1 cup cold water
2 drops of food coloring
Directions: Combine flour & salt first, then add
water, food coloring and oil. Mix well with
wooden spoon. Knead well and strengthen little
hands! (If consistency is too wet, add a bit of
plain flour.)

Annual Christmas Stoll
Saturday, December 3rd
2:00-6:00pm, Washington Square, Haverhill MA
This is a family friendly event with activities for children and
families including Cookie decorating, ornament making, live music
with performances by Haverhill Idol Winners, and an appearance by
Santa Claus to light the Christmas tree. There are also special
shopping discounts and promotions to assist the holiday shopper
with their purchases. The event is free and open to the public.
