Held on January 20th, the winter weather came out in full force, but that could not stop our hearty community members from coming out and enjoying all the outdoor activities. Families took part in sleigh rides, snowshoeing, skating, tug-of-war, chilli, hot dogs and a campfire with marshmallows. Indoors, Dr Kaboom delighted the kids with magic tricks and lots of fun. Thank you to all the fall craft sale artists, crafters and vendors who donated crafts and items towards our silent auctions for the winter carnval. Our selection was great this year and the funds raised go towards this newsletter and running other community events. Our community businesses are so supportive and we appreciate your support and certainly we, as community members, will continue to support your businesses as well. Our long term coordinator of this event, Marianne Cox, is leaving us this year. Thanks for all your dedication and hard work pulling off this Trend Arlington main event. You will be missed! Hockey Day 2013 The 2013 Hockey Day in Ward 9 shinny hockey tournament was a big success again this year with 21 teams competing at three local community outdoor rinks across Ward 9 in Nepean: Trend-Arlington, Manordale-Woodvale and General Burns. Day in Ward 9 is a fun event for family and friends to play Canada’s favorite past-time, outside on our local neighborhood rinks. All 2013 tournament participants received a commemorative puck and enjoyed hot chili, coffee, hot chocolate and Timbits from Tim Horton's throughout the day. Hosted by the ward council in Ward 9, the KnoxdaleMerivale Council of Community Associations (KMC), Hockey Day in Ward 9 takes place on the second Saturday in February every year and is part of the Hockey Day in Canada festivities taking place across the Country. Thanks to Owen Bale for doing a great job once again this year capturing the event on film: http://bit.ly/ 12Dyco6. For more information, please contact James O'Grady at [email protected].
