LGU:
Bacnotan is one of the twenty towns which comprise the Province of La Union. lt
is a peaceful and progressive town located along the western coast of the Northern part of the province-
At present, Bacnotan is a first class municipality compose of 47 barangays, 44 of
it were engaged in farming such as crops, livestock, poultry and fishing industry as their livelihood
source of income. Aside from the main products, Api Culture, Mushroom, Bamboo Woodcraft, Tiger
Grass ,Peanut, Basi , Vinegar , meatfiish processing , tobacco and Sericulture are included as other
source of income.
It has a total land area of 7,555 hectares with a population of 41,604 and labor
force is 65% of the total population of CY 2@0 census. lt has seven (7) coastal barangays namely:
Quirino,Galongen,Tammocalao,Cabarsican, Pandan , Poblacion, and Baroro. lt is also a flat terrain
consists of 2/3 of its total land area and 1/3 of which area hills and mountains.

Brief Description ofthe Project:
The LGU Bacnotan is in response to the training needs of existing and efficient
beekeepers of Bacnotan , the urgent callfor sustainable rural community development program
within the municipality. The project started in 2008 with a ntotal of four (4) NUcs colony
manage by the Agriculture office staff. Honey is identified as one Town one Product of
Bacnotan aside from mushroom because its origin is from NARTDI Bacnotan. lt is also
appropriate and effective to carry out this mandate for its uses in Agriculture and mankind.
To date, fourteen (14) Standard colonies is being raised and taking care off, Eight
(8) colonies were migrated to Caranglan, Nueva Ecija for Honey Flow harvested this 3d week of
November 2013. Previous honey production is 1OO kilograms Honey with a total amount of
Prs,000.00.
There is a need to expand the colonies in order to sustain the proiect production
for the coming year in order to have Honey production up to 300 kilograms per harvest or a
total of P200,000.00 income per year.

Beneficiaries:
