KumarakomBirdSanctuaryissituatedatKumarakomin
Kottayam district. Covering an area of 14 acres
KumarakomBirdSanctuaryisadelightfortheloversof
birds. It occupies the area on the banks of the
Vembanad Lake and offers its visitors a glimpse of
Keralaʼs natural beauty. Major attractions are Flora,
Birds,Houseboatsandmotorboatetc.
THEKKADY(PERIYARTIGERRESERVE)‒60KMFROMTHEVENUE
Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady, Idukki Dist, is an
example ofnatureʼs bounty, withgreat scenic charm,
and rich bio diversity, providing veritable visitor
satisfaction. Sprawled over an area of 777 Sq .km.
Periyarisoneofthe27tigerreservesinIndia.

Wagamon is located about 65 km from both Kottayam
andIdukki.Situatedatanelevationofabout1100meter
above the sea level, it is famous as a trekkersʼ Paradise.
Wagamonalsohasthedistinctionofbeingoneofthe“50
must see sights in the world” according to National
GeographicMagazine.Alsoitisahillstationnotedforits
misty meadows, splashing waterfalls, and exciting
trekkingpaths.
VEMBANADLAKE‒50KMFROMTHEVENUE
VembanadisIndiaʼslongestlake,andKeralaʼslargestlake.
The Vembanad wetland system covers an area of over
1512km.ThelakeisborderedbyAlapuha,Kottayam,and
Ernakulam districts. It lies at sea level, and is separated
from the Arabian Sea by a narrow barrier island. Several
riversflowintothelakeandCanalslinkthelaketoother
coastallakesoftheregion.

SkirtingtheKottayamDistrict arethebeautifulvalleysof
Elaveezhapoonchira, spread over thousands of acres in
MelukavuvillageofMeenachilTaluk.Thepristinebeauty
ofnatureispreservedalmostintacthereintheimposing
mountainrangeswithrockycliffs.Thedifferentelevations
ofthemountainrangeswithcontrastingshapesgivethis
hill station a dramatic and distinctive outline of great
scenic splendor. Just below the hill, there is a small
perennialpondlikewaterbodycalledʻpoonchiraʼ.
GRAMPIHILLSTATION‒35KMFROMTHEVENUE
ThepicturesquehillstationofGrampi,situated5kmsfrom
PeerumadeisalsoknownastheParunthupara,meaning
theeaglerock.Rockyplains,lushhillsides,forests,trekking
trails and picturesque views lend charm to this
destination. The road to Grampi is flanked by unending
stretchesofcardamom,teaandcoffeeplantations.
