MARCH LODGE NEWS
Exalted Ruler’s Message
This will be my last newsletter as
your Exalted Ruler. It has been an
honor and a privilege to serve as your
ER a second time this past year. My
family and I are extremely appreciative
of the dedication that our members
have to the noble causes of Elkdom.
Our lodge is truly blessed to be one
of the best in this great nation and we
should be very proud!
Get out your electronic devices,
grab your pens or pencils, and “save
the date” for some of the following
exciting events at our lodge! This winter
has been one of the coldest in recorded
history, so let’s kick off the month
of March with our annual Chili and
Soup Cookoff on Saturday, March 1st.
Even though we haven’t seen much of
the mercury in our thermometers, that
doesn’t mean these soups won’t be
out of this world! Come out, taste test,
and vote for your favorite homemade
recipes. Our annual Fin & Feather will
be held on Friday, March 21st. Calling
all hungry stomachs!!!...We will be
having an All You Can Eat Pancake
and Sausage Brunch on March 30th,
serving from 9:00-12:00. Kids 10 and
under are FREE and adults are only $7.
Do you ever wish you could rewind
the clock a few years and go back
to the good old days? Do you ever
reminisce what it would be like to go
back to Prom and NOT as a chaperone
or parent? Well, my friends, that time
has come. On Saturday, April 12th,
we are having our first ever Adult
Prom! The DJ will be spinning all your
favorite tunes from the past several
decades. There will be dinner, dancing,
games, and yes, a king and queen from
each decade! This will definitely be a
night to remember, unless you hit the
spiked punch bowl too often. In that
case, the photo booth pictures can bring
flashes of memories back to you. Please
check out the Adult Prom box for more
information.
The beginning of March also marks
the beginning of our golf season.
Ron and his crew have been working
around the clock to get the course ready
for another beautiful season of golf. It
has been a brutal winter season and
what better way to beat the cabin fever
than to hit the links for a few rounds.
Please stop by the pro shop or contact
the lodge to make arrangements for our
summer leagues.
As we near the end of our lodge
year (March 31st), please make sure
that you are current and up-to-date
with your membership dues. The only
way that we can continue to grow
and thrive as a lodge is if we have all
of our members paid up, participating
in our functions, and becoming active
members in our Order. If you chose the
early bird paying option, did you also
make any contributions to the Elks
National Foundation, Children’s
Care Corporation, or our Capital
Improvement funds? Many members
just paid their dues portion to receive
their gift certificates, but did not
contribute to these important programs.
If you are wishing to donate to one of
these funds, but have already paid your
yearly dues, please stop by the lodge or
contact our office and we will be glad
to get you a dues statement in which
all you would need to do is fill in your
donations.
With a new lodge year quickly
approaching on April 1st, Don Paris
will be serving as your next Exalted
Ruler. Please show him the same
support you have given me as he leads
Pontiac Lodge #1019 into another
successful year.
In closing, please make sure
you take the opportunity to thank our
“unsung heroes” of our lodge – the
trustees, managers, workers, and
volunteers. They do so much work
that is unseen, underappreciated, and
too often left thankless. Without them,
our lodge would not be what it is today.
I want to thank them for everything that
they have done as they have made my
service much easier this past year. We
owe them a great deal of appreciation
for their hard work and dedication to
our lodge. I also want to thank all of
our volunteers for their countless hours
of dedication to improving the lives of
those around us. You signify the motto
that I close each of my letters with....
