Getting Started
We love the question, “Where do I start?” because everything at Princeton
Alliance Church (PAC) starts with Jesus. If you’re new to church life, we want
to introduce you to Him. If you’ve heard of Jesus but haven’t experienced His
love and forgiveness, we want to show you how you can. If you know Jesus
and want to deepen your relationship with Him, we want to walk alongside
you on your journey.
As your first step toward feeling at home at PAC, stop by our Welcome
Center in the main lobby for information and answers to your questions.
From there, join us any Sunday at 9:30 am for Starting Point, where you can
meet a pastor and chat with other newcomers as you enjoy a light breakfast.
Then, for a more in-depth look at PAC and our denomination, attend our
quarterly “Discover PAC” class.
Discover PAC
Single session offered twice
Sunday, February 24 • 1–3 pm • Room 212
Monday, April 15 • 7–9 pm • Room 203
Facilitated by Lead Pastor Boyd Hannold, here you’ll discover what we
believe and how we work together to carry out the vision and mission of
the church. This class is not only informative, it’s your first step toward PAC
membership. Free onsite childcare is available on request up to four days
prior to the class. Register online at princetonalliance.org/classes.

Getting Started
Once you’ve gotten started, we want you to get connected and involved in
the life of the church. That’s where this Growth Guide comes in. Its purpose
is to help you find practical ways to know God, develop community and
bring hope. To keep things simple, we’ve organized the content that way.
So take some time to see how we can serve you and you can serve others.
Opportunities exist for every member of your family.
If you need guidance, our pastors are available after any worship service to
personally speak to you and pray with you. You can also contact a pastor by
email at [email protected] or by calling the church office at
609.799.9000.
2
Everything we do stems from knowing God and being in relationship with
Him. He calls us into His presence for worship, conversation and a continual
discovery of who He is. This is where we find the grace, love and strength
required for living life to the fullest in Jesus.
Worship
Worship is our soul’s response to what we value most... Jesus. Corporate
worship as a church family provides a consistent way for us to celebrate who
He is, and to be edified and equipped by hearing His Word.

You are awesome,

Spiritual Development
2013 “Every Word” Series
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every
word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4
One-hour of weekly worship isn’t enough to build a meaningful, powerful,
personal relationship with Jesus. Take a moment to let that sink in.
We need daily spiritual nourishment. Every day we need to spend time
praying, reading Scripture and seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit. These
are among the fundamental disciplines of a fully devoted follower of Christ.
Because I believe this is critical to the life of PAC, starting January 1 we’ll
spend the year reading through the Bible together. All of us. You, me and
1500+ PAC family members. Our goal: To develop the daily habit of
spending time in God’s Word so we can know Him more fully.
Printed daily reading plans are available at the Welcome Center and in the
lobby literature racks. If you prefer to go digital, you can download the free
smartphone app called “YouVersion (Bible)” by LifeChurch. Or you can visit
youversion.com online. In either case we’re using the Chronological Bible
plan to help us understand the context of the Scripture we read. Each Sunday
as we gather for worship, the message will relate to a portion of what was read
during the week.
For those of you who join us as newcomers after January 1, simply start with
the current day’s reading. If you fall behind at some point in the year, don’t give
up. Start again with the current day’s reading. Keep in mind that YouVersion
also offers an audio option that can help you keep up or catch up.
I’m really excited to see how we grow as the Body of Christ from this
experience. I believe that if we spend the year faithfully reading God’s Word
and seeking His presence, our lives will be forever changed.
Dr. Boyd Hannold
Lead Pastor

Spiritual Development
Adults
Because knowing God is at the heart of our mission, we take your spiritual
development seriously. We offer two types of classes to adults each quarter:
CORE classes and LIFE classes
Our CORE classes are designed to help you grow in your faith. They are
fundamental in that they offer you the tools you need to become a fully
devoted follower of Jesus Christ. CORE classes are for all adults, regardless
of your age or stage of life. Although they complement one another, they
can be taken in any order.
• The Story: Discovering God’s Big Idea
• The Walk: Learning the Art of Discipleship
• The Church: Living in Community*
• The Book: Listening to the Voice of God*
• The Mission: Uncovering the Heart of God
Our LIFE classes are designed to help you take a Christ-centered approach
to the practical areas of life. Applying biblical principles, they address
common life issues such as parenting, marriage and finances. LIFE classes
are situation-specific, meaning they are relevant based on your stage of life.

Children (newborn–5th grade)
PAC parents agree that it is important for their children to know and
follow Jesus. We believe the church plays a signficant role but parents take
the lead. Children’s Ministries seeks to partner with you and serve as a
resource to your family as you guide your child into a growing relationship
with Jesus. We do this through our Promised Land and Crosswalk Sunday
programs, monthly Family Time Live! events, and parents’ resources
available at princetonalliance.org/children.
Crosswalk: Kindergarten–5th grade
Sundays, 10 & 11:30 am • Great Room
Crosswalk is designed to help your child discover Jesus through
teaching, worship, skits, games and other fun, engaging interactions.
We’re committed to providing relevant, age-appropriate experiences,
so Kindergarten–2nd grade and 3rd–5th grade each have their own
large-group environment. Small groups are also a part of the Crosswalk
dynamic. Here children can comfortably pray, establish meaningful
relationships, and share their thoughts on life applications of lessons
learned from the large-group teaching.

Life to the fullest in Jesus involves community. We believe community is
best described as a group of believers learning, serving and growing in
faith together.

Small Groups
Doing life is easier with friends, don’t you agree? At PAC, small groups
are about getting connected and doing life together. We believe your
involvement in a small group is integral to living life to the fullest in Jesus.
Why? Because it’s in the context of spiritually accountable relationships
that we best learn and grow while being challenged and encouraged.
Our small groups meet at different times and locations throughout the
week. Discussion content varies, but all groups include four key elements:
study, prayer, fellowship and service. Join a small group and make friends,
grow in your faith and become involved in the life of the church.
Visit princetonalliance.org/smallgroups today to find a group that’s right
for you.

marriage mentors to encourage and guide couples to a Christ-centered
married life.

Marriage Mentoring
Every marriage needs to be surrounded by people and principles that reflect
God’s unconditional love. Whether you would like to serve as a mentoring
couple or are a couple that would like to be mentored, this process is a great
way to be encouraged through friendship and equipped through discipleship.

9:30–11:30 am • Chapel
MOPS provides support and community for moms with newborn-topreschool-age children. The MOPS theme for 2012–2013 is “Plunge,” with
the goal of teaching us how to plunge into special relationships that can
change our lives as mothers. We meet for fellowship, crafts, refreshments
and to gain insight from experienced, godly speakers. During our meetings,
our children enjoy a fun, age-appropriate lesson of their own. (Cost for this
care is $5 per child).
MOPS also offers a monthly Mom’s Night Out and impromptu play dates at
local parks. So get involved... because better moms make a better world.

Give it away. Because we have a vibrant relationship with God and have
discovered how His truths have transformed our lives, we give it away.
Hope. Joy. Forgiveness. Freedom. Truth. Blankets. Lunch. A ride. This is the
fruit of a life that is full in Jesus Christ. Whether the giving is of your time,
talents or treasures, it reflects His transforming love for people.

He Cares, We Care
Making God’s Love Tangible
[email protected] • x 11
He Cares, We Care is PAC’s benevolence ministry. Our goal is to move
families from a place of hurting to a place of spiritual, emotional, financial
and physical healing. We do this by:
• Assisting with immediate needs for food and clothing
• Partnering with other agencies to assist families who are being
threatened with utility shut-off and/or eviction
• Helping individuals and families with budgeting, single-parenting
issues and career assistance
• Praying with and for the families we serve

He Cares, We Care, continued
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
People do not remember what they are told about God’s love during trying
times. They remember what they experience. Our prayer is that each life
touched by He Cares, We Care will be a life that has been shown God’s love
and grace.

single moms and others in need.
Our CARS volunteers meet in the garage every Wednesday at 7 pm to work
on vehicles. Change some oil or detail an interior. No experience necessary.
We will train you. Men, women and teens welcome. Every other Wednesday,
we start a little earlier at 6 pm, and meet for Bible study first.

• Welcome Center volunteers who provide information about our ministries
and show guests how to get from here to there

Missions
God’s global mission––sharing the transformational love and grace of Jesus
around the world––is a vital part of who we are at PAC. It’s so important that
we want everyone in the church family to be involved by praying, giving or
going in 2013.
In faith and humilty we’ve accepted God’s call to cross-culturally share the
Gospel. Our emphasis is on passionately serving and sharing Jesus while:
•
•
•
•
Preventing the prostitution and trafficking of children
Providing food, housing and a nurturing environment to street orphans
Assisting families in crisis due to poverty or natural disaster
Creatively planting new churches
Keep an eye out for our 2013 Go Guide, which includes a complete schedule
and summary of the 15 PAC-led, short-term mission experiences we’re
offering this year. Copies will be distributed to the church family in January.
Throughout the rest of the year the guide is available at the Welcome Center
and in the literature racks in the church lobbies.
This year our key mission Sundays are January 27, February 3 and February
10. During these services we’ll be challenged to see the world through God’s
eyes and personally take part in His global mission. On Saturday, February
9, we’ll observe our second-annual, churchwide Day of Prayer & Fasting.
We’ll each ask God where He would like us to go this year and what He would
like us to give to the Great Commission Fund through a Faith Promise pledge
on February 10.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very
end of the age.” Matthew 28:19–20

Church Planting
In 2009 PAC began a church planting movement to reach those in need of
the Gospel. 217church, which meets at the AMC Theater in Hamilton, is

In February of 2012 PAC lauched Element Church in North Brunswick.
Under the leadership of Pastor Matthew Murphy, Element Church now
