“Pure Michigan” campaign and how it has helped to market Michigan and
grow the economy.

VanAire, Incorporated
Achieves ISO Registration Status
Delta Manufacturing Recognized at a
Regional and State Level
GLADSTONE, MICHIGAN (May 1, 2012) The employees of VanAire, Incorporated, gathered on March 27, 2012 to proudly
raise a flag identifying the company as being an International
Organization for Standard or ISO 9001:2008 registered company.
Escanaba, MI- On May 3, 2012, Delta Manufacturing will be honored during the 8th Annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business
awards ceremony with two awards. The Escanaba manufacturer has
been named one of 2012’s“Michigan 50 Companies to Watch” for
being a potential significant driver of Michigan’s economy and has
been recognized with the 2012 Small Business award from the
Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center’s (MI
SBTDC).
“Raising this flag is a declaration, not only to Gladstone but to
the world, that we accept the responsibility to be customer focused and to strive to continually improve our products and services,” stated Quality Manager Steve Hughes.
Companies included in the prestigious “Michigan 50 Companies to
Watch” list are noteworthy second stage companies that represent
various industries in Michigan. A second stage company is defined
as generating $750 thousand to $ 50 million and employing 6-99
full time equivalent personnel. The awards program is sponsored
by the Edward Lowe Foundation.
The ceremony marked the culmination of a two-year process of
developing and implementing a comprehensive quality management system. Independent auditors conducted two examinations and found no major or minor findings in either audit, a
rare accomplishment for companies completing this process.
“Companies that become registered are held in higher regard
because it signifies inner discipline and a company-wide culture
of continuous improvement,” Hughes continued.
Continuing celebrating their achievements, Delta Manufacturing
has been awarded the 2012 Small Business award from the MI
SBTDC. This exclusive award seeks to recognize 12 small businesses that have made the greatest strides towards accomplishing
their goals and growing the Michigan economy. MI-SBTDC assisted
over 14,000 businesses throughout Michigan; each region office
selects one business from thousands to be recognized for their efforts and hard work. Both awards will be presented during the
Michigan Celebrates Small Business award ceremony.
The ISO process required extensive involvement by the employees and management of VanAire. The company was assisted by
M-TEC at Bay College and Nicole Brown of Northern Quality
Solutions in formulating and evaluating the quality system. VanAire manufactures valve automation hardware, waste water
treatment and by-product recovery systems, and cement chutes.
In 2005, the company was named one of Michigan’s Top 50
Companies to watch. The Delta County manufacturer distributes
their products throughout North America and regularly exports
to China, Finland and India.
Since 2006, Delta Manufacturing has serviced the railroad industry,
and since then, has introduced a revolutionary new portable Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lathe that turns locomotive wheels
in a shop without moving the wheel set. Their product has offered
an affordable option to prevent companies from spending precious
time and spending millions from their budget. Delta Manufacturing
offers training, technical, and internet support of their product. The
manufacturer maintains a sustainable business growth without
loosing their focus on their community. Delta Manufacturer is a
proud employer of veterans; 3 of 18 employees have served their
country. With these awards, Delta Manufacturing is being recognized for their innovation and creativity, competitive improvements, and entrepreneurial leadership along with their commitment
to Delta County.
