Since the laws of the European Union regarding the environmental
protection are very strict, and Serbia is contractually obliged to comply
with such laws, much attention is paid to environmental protection
programs. In Mining Basin “Kolubara”, the largest coal producer in
the Serbian Electric Power Industry, in addition to regularly meeting
the production schedules, the Management of the company stresses
the great importance of environmental protection improvement and
mitigation of the effects on the environment. According to Mr. Milorad
Grčić, Director of the Mining Basin “Kolubara”, the global trends of
making the coal and electricity production “clean” as much as possible,
have been taken in “Kolubara” very seriously, so the corresponding
activities have been initiated.
As Mr. Grčić pointed out, the people employed in the Department
who in charge of this area did a lot to raise the awareness about the
importance of protecting the environment and lifting ecological
standards for the production in the previous period. The first “green”
project in MB “Kolubara” - “Environmental Protection Improvement in
the Mining Basin “Kolubara”, is worth 182 million euros. It is funded
by a loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(EBRD) in the amount of 80 million, the German Development Bank
(KfW) with 74 million, and proper funds of “Electric Power Industry of
Serbia” amounting to 28 million. According to the envisaged schedule,
the implementation will take three years and a half.
Cooperation with the banks, EBRD and KfW is very important to MB
“Kolubara” – said Director Grčić. – The project teams of MB “Kolubara”
meet all obligations with high level of efficiency and accountability, and
the regular internal weekly meetings on progress of the project show a
high level of responsibility of MB “Kolubara” towards the international
creditors.
It is estimated that in the last twenty years, this was the largest
investment in the Serbian mining. It will serve for providing modern
equipment to MB “Kolubara” for overburden excavation in the
eastern part of the deposit, and by installing the system for coal
homogenization, the first of its kind in the “Electric Power Industry of

Serbia”, in the western part of the deposit, the guaranteed quality of the
coal for thermal power plants will be ensured.
– The objective of the project is to secure the coal standardized
quality by implementing the homogenization system, which will, among
other things, contribute to the reduction of environmental pollution. It is
estimated that it will reduce SO2 emissions by 3,650 tons, NO2 by 21,370
tons, and CO2 emissions by 555,350 tons per year, while the amount of
ash and slag will be reduced by 885,000 tons per year in TPP “Nikola
Tesla”, in Obrenovac – said Mr. Gričić explaining the project goals - The
great importance of the “green” project of MB “Kolubara” has also been
confirmed by a presentation at the conference “Rio +20”, within the
Serbian national report on sustainable development .
Our interviewee announced that it was expected the Environment
Monitoring Project for the whole area of MB “Kolubara” to be finished in
October.
– In June, as part of the activities planned for the final project
realization period, the consultations with the Ministry of Energy,
Development and Environmental Protection were initiated in order
to clarify the obligations as per regulations governing the quality
of environmental parameters with respect to a new obligation of
the business entities to consult with each other prior to establishing
environmental self-monitoring on site and significant amendments of
regulations governing this area – explained Mr. Grčić.
MB “Kolubara“ is one of the first two companies in Serbia, where
the TEAMS software application was implemented in practice. The
TEAMS software has been donated by the Norwegian government and
was fully implemented within MB “Kolubara”. The staff members for
qualitative and continuous data input (data on the quality of air, water,
soil, and waste) was trained last year. This software will be immediately
applied within the project - Monitoring Plan of the Environment in
MB “Kolubara”, which will speed up the start of the environmental
monitoring implementation in the company for at least one year.
According to Mr. Slobodan Radosavljević, Head of the Department
for the Environmental Protection and Improvement, the portable system
for measuring of environmental noise was purchased and installed,
and regular measurements are performed by trained operators. The
complementary laboratory accreditation is planned for the noise
measuring format and built-in flow meters of wastewater, pumped from
the open pit mines into the surrounding recipients.
The project named “Technical-Economic Analysis of the Possibilities
for using of Woody Biomass from the area of open pit mines of MB
“Kolubara” for heating purposes”; next year follows the purchase
of the first boiler fired by wood chops, thus announcing the start of
implementation of renewable energy sources in the company. The
General Design on solving the issue of waste water in the industrial
compound of “Tamnava”, and its technical check has been performed.
In the course of this year, the elaboration of Conceptual Design will be
started.
The partnership of MB “Kolubara” Management with civil associations
at local and national level, determines its high degree of social and
community responsibility. In this year, in MB “Kolubara” has started
the implementation of the first “green” project, and all other projects,
started in the previous period, are continued. With the investments in
the new mining equipment and the coal homogenization in order to
modernize the production process, it is realistic to expect the largest
coal producer in the country to keep its mainstay position in the field
of power supply, with more stringent enforcement of environmental
standards.
The overall six-month financial result of the MB “Kolubara” business
activities is positive, and the profit made amounts to 1.5 billion RSD,
as stated in the Business Report adopted at the 56th Session of the
Meeting of the Company, held on September 20th in Lazarevac. After
the correcton of the total financial result made by deducting the tax and
deferred tax income, net total financial result for the above mentioned
period amounts to about 1.3 billion RSD, as Mr. Miodrag Mitrović,
Assistant Director for economic affairs stated. Business results for the
past six months have been significantly better than in the same period
last year. Total incomes amount to about 2.9 billion RSD or 9.7% more
than planned, while book-entered expenses are about 20.4 billion RSD,
which is by 8.8 % less than envisaged.
According to the Report, at the OPMs, as of 30th June this year, more
than 14 million tons of coal were produced, that is about 4.2% more
than planned. Out of this amount, about 6.5 million tons were produced
at the “Tamnava-West Field”, almost 18 percent more than planned for
this period. Good production results were recorded also in the Field “D”,
where the plan was overfulfilled by about 24%, and almost 4.2 million
tons of lignite were produced. Total coal production in “Kolubara” is by
3.1% higher than that achieved in the same period last year.
Production of overburden during the first six months was also higher
than planned by 4.5 %, and 34.6 million cubic meters of overburden were
produced. The largest share in this result had “Tamnava-West Field”
(14.6 m3) and Field “D” (12.5 millions m3).
The plans for the supply of raw coal and dry coal to industy and
consumer goods were overfulfilled by 74.9 % and 37.8% respectively.
In the Report, the situation regarding maintenance of the capacities
for coal production in the period from January to the end of June this
year was analyzed in detail. It is estimated that the maintenance of the
means participated with 7.2% in the planned total business expenses
for this period, and that 1.3 billion RSD was spent or 30.5% less than
envisaged by the plna (that is flexible). Also, it is about the amount that
is by 33% lower than the amount spent in the same period last year. It
was found that the overhauls of the equipment at the OPMs, despite all
the difficulties, were performed successfully, and that the quality of the
performed works is satisfactory.

Mining basin Kolubara 56th General Meeting,
Positive bussiness results
When it comes to the investments, in the adopted Report it was
mentioned that total realized investments at the level of MB “Kolubara”
for the period from 1st January to 30th June this year, amount to 1.9
billion RSD, that regarding the annual plan of the first priorities amounts
to about 21%. The funds appropriated for this field in the Branch
“Open Pit Mines” amount to about 1.8 billion RSD, while for the Branch
“Prerada” they amount to about 36 billion RSD.
At the Session of the General Meeting of MB “Kolubara”, beside the
Business Report for the first half of the year, i.a. also the Decision on the
assigning the lots at the location “Nursery garden” to the former owners
of the expropriated properties from Zeoke, the Decision on paying out
the compensation for the non standard surface structures at the old
cemetery in Baroševac as well as the Decision on expenditure of fixed
assests in the OU “Tamnava East Field”.
Records on eight-month production results,
the best results of “Tamnava-West Field”
The eight month production of overburden and partings in “Kolubara”
amounted to 45,316,337 cubic meters, or approximately 4% above the plan.
In the Tamnava mines (“Tamnava-West Field” and Field “Veliki
Crljeni”) it has been excavated 2,642,831 cubic meters of interburden.
The open pit mine “Tamnava-West Field” has achieved the highest
overburden production of 21,358,354 cubic meters and the highest
overfulfillment of the plan of over 28%. In the Field “D” it was excavated
and dumped 16,366,468 cubic meters of solid mass, by which the
plan was overfulfilled by about 5%. In the Field “Veliki Crljeni” it was
excavated 1,528,258 cubic meters of overburden, by which the plan was
realized with of about 69%. The mine Field “B” produced 6,063,257 cubic
meters of overburden, realizing the plan with 66%.
In total it was excavated about 19.6 million tons of lignite and 45.3
million cubic meters of overburden. In August, the coal balance was
overfulfilled by about 3%.
Also in August, the open pit mines of MB “Kolubara” excavated
4,895,880 cubic meters of overburden, which is close to the balance
amount. Out of this amount, partings of interburden excavated in
Tamnava amounted to 395,465 cubic meters.
The highest over-fulfillment of the plan, by over 39 percent, was
that achieved by OPM Field “B”, where it has been excavated and
dumped 1,211,541 cubic meters of overburden. “Tamnava-West Field”
has produced 1,890,637 cubic meters of overburden or approximately
94% of the planned amount. In the Field “Veliki Crljeni”, where the
overburden production ceased in the mid of May, 13,582 cubic meters of
the interburden has been excavated on the coal benches. In August, Field
“D” produced 1,780,120 cubic meters of overburden, by which the plan
was realized with 81%.
According to the data provided by the Production department, the
OPM “Tamnava-West Field had the greatest portion of 9,129,728 tons
of coal produced, which was about 14% above the plan. The highest
over-fulfillment of the plan of about 25% had Field “D” with extracted
5,766,194 tons of coal. At the Field “Veliki Crljeni” it was excavated
3,053,332 tons of lignite or about 95% of the planned amount. Field “B”
achieved production of 1,648,573 tons of coal.
In August, the four open pit mines of MB “Kolubara” was excavated
2,767,754 tons of lignite, which is over 3% more than planned.
The mine “Tamnava-West Field with 1,304,642 tons of lignite
produced recorded the highest production and over-fulfilled the plan by
about 11%. The highest over-fulfillment of the plan of 28% was achieved
by Field “D”, which excavated 806,402 tons of coal in August and thus
made up for a below-the-plan output of Field “B” that produced only
224,980 tons of lignite. Field “Veliki Crljeni” with 431,730 tons of lignite
produced has over-fulfilled the plan by about 8%.

Production by mid-September
In the first half of September, according to the Production
department, the Mining Basin “Kolubara” excavated 1,374,908 tons of
lignite and 2,596,327 cubic meters of overburden. The coal production
plan was overfulfilled by approximately 1%, and overburden
production is at the level of the plan.
The availability of coal stockpiles in TPP NT is near the balance
amount, while that for TPPK and TPP “Morava” are 35% and 15%
respectively higher than planned for this time of year.
The Minister of Energy, Development, and Environmental Protection,
Prof. Zorana Mihajlović PhD, has exclusively spoken about the arrests
made in MB “Kolubara”, strategic development, but also about new
technologies and their impact on the Serbian energy future.
In the last two years even three Directors of the MB “Kolubara”
were arrested, as well as a great number of their closest Assistants.
In what way do these arrests affect the reputation of EPS and
“Kolubara”?
The arrest of the former “Kolubara” leaders means that the
prosecution service and the Police are finally doing their job. As long as
the investigation is in progress, there is still the possibility that there
are more persons involved in the scandals connected with this company.
However, it is not the job of the politicians and executive authorities to
speculate on this matter. Therefore, I do not understand the attitude
of Mr. Dragan Đilas, who, criticizing the Government, actually puts
pressure on the judical system, and in doing so, prevents shedding some
light on the theft committed in “Kolubara”. Everyone who can put two
and two together, must realize that the millions were paid out for the
land expropriation to the people who were neither in the first nor in
the second zone of expropriation, which means that they would not be
relocated in the next seven to eight years.
The persons who allowed millions of dollars to end up in the pockets
of their suspicious business partners are the ones who should have
thought about the reputation. Unfortunately, “Kolubara” is not an
isolated case, because Serbia is full of state-owned companies in which
the business was not run in a proper manner. Prosecution of those who
were working illegally and the bringing large economic systems back to
the legal framework of doing business, will be, in my opinion, the best
way to rehabilitate their rocky reputation.
Are the Government officials and management structure of the
time are also to be responsible for the failures of this company? Why
have not they been investigated by the Police yet?

I have no doubt that the responsibility should be borne by all those
who were involved in the embezzlement of “Kolubara”, or knew about it,
but did nothing to prevent the theft. In this and every other case, when
it comes to robbing Serbian citizens, nobody must not be protected, no
matter what party they belong to, and whoever appointed them at those
positions.
It must never happen again that the people who abuse their
authorities for personal gain decide about the money of Serbian citizens.
Maybe it wouldn’t have happened if EPS had been privatized. Will
the adoption of the Energy Development Strategy in Serbia by 2025
speed up this process?
I have said on many occasions that the Government is not considering
the privatization of EPS, but that for some projects, we will try to find
strategic partners. In Serbia, the conditions for public energy enterprises
must be created first for their independent and successful operation in
the market, and to be able to use their own income to make investments
into the development and environmental protection. The prerequisite
for this to happen is to complete the process of corporatization of
EPS, which will allow to the company to become more efficient and in
capacity to deal with the competition.
Adoption of the Energy Development Strategy in Serbia until 2025
will resolve many dilemmas. How is the public hearing on the draft of
this government's document progressing?
The draft has been presented in Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac and
Belgrade until now. Experts and the general public will give the final
judgment on this document at the meeting, to be held on 11th October
in Belgrade.
Strategic directions of the development include the construction
of new energy facilities, the development of the national and regional
energy markets, greater utilization of the potential that lies in renewable
energy sources and the increase of energy efficiency. In the field of
electric power industry, the strategy envisages that by 2020 we will
have at least 2,000 megawatts of new capacities, including thermal
power plants, hydro power plants and renewable energy sources. The
construction of new storage capacities is planned in order to make
the required reserves of oil and oil derivatives. One of the priorities
will be the optimal use of the gas pipeline “South Stream” and the
interconnections to Bulgaria. Changing the structure of consumption
in order to spend more energy in the economy and industry and less in
households, is also an important task.
When will the last version of the new strategy be adopted?
While the public debate is on, the Ministry is preparing the drafts of
the Action Plan. I expect that everything will be completed by the end of
this year. The Action Plan is a binding document and it will have a precise
time period. The scenario with the TPP “Kolubara B” cannot happen again.
This TPP should have been connected to the network in 2007 according
to the plans, and its construction has not been completed yet. We must
not allow any gap between the construction of new power plants and the
development of the mines neither, as it was the case a decade ago.
Will EPS be exposed to great tests in the next two years?
The big test for the EPS will follow in a few months, on 1st January
next year when more than 4,000 companies will be in the free market,
because then, EPS will have to fight to keep its customers. Since the
beginning of the year 2015, the households will also have the possibility
to choose their suppliers and therefore the financial, organizational and
technical state of EPS in that moment will be very important.
Therefore, I have been insisting for a long time now, on solving
problems of queues at the counter windows, of enabling regular payers
to pay their bills when it suits them, not EPS, and that owners can
reschedule their debts. EPS must get ready for open market competition

much faster. The scenario of late public supplier formation must not
be repeated, in order to avoid the total chaos with the bills, and that
consequences are borne only by the consumers in the end.
If the workers in mines and thermal power plants, working under
much difficult conditions, manage to maintain or even increase
production levels in the winter months and to provide enough energy,
I see no reason why the companies for the distribution and supply
of electricity shouldn’t show the same responsibility. I'm glad that
the Management of EPS decided to analyze all these omissions and
determine the responsibility, but it would be much better if EPS had
been ready for the beginning of the public supplier work.
At this moment, Serbian energy production is based on so-called
“dirty technologies“. In what way and to what extent will the new
Energy Development Strategy enable greater investment in the
production of pure and renewable energy?
We can significantly reduce imports and increase energy security
of Serbia by using the renewable energy resources, which is why the
renewable energy is one of the priorities in the new strategy.
Investors have a complete idea of the ambitions of the state after the
adopting of the National Action Plan for Renewable Energy at end of
June, which have clearly defined goals and time frame for achieving the
2020th year. In the past year, completes the legal framework, as adopted
amendments to the Energy Law, Regulation and the four model contract
to purchase power from the privileged producers. This has created the
conditions for what we have so far been only a potential start to turn
into real investments. Improving regulation and greater transparency in
the procedures are recognized by investors, which shows nearly 1,500
applications for the first public call for the construction of small hydro
power plants on the basis of which has been signed 212 memorandum to
potential investors and local governments.
What is the situation with complicated procedure?
The second phase of simplyfing the procedures for obtaining all
permits required for investing in OIE is ahead of us. We are working
with European bank for reconstruction and development on this task. In
the first phase, we have recorded the institutoin and procedures, which
affect the time for permits obtaining. In the second phase we will strive
to change regulations and make the job easier for the Investors.
Naturally, in all that, we take care of both the interest of the Investor,
and the interests of the State and the citizens who are paying the price
so that Serbia could get higher percentage of “green energy“ in the
final consumption until 2020. It is our obligation to provide a steady,
predictable legal framework for investments and for the institutions
to work efficiently, but we cannot take all the risk of a project, which
some Investors attempted to work out by ways of lobbying and putting
pressure.
Kosovo-Metohija Coal Basin contains as much as 76% of total
Serbian coal reserves. Could the recently signed Energy Agreement
between Serbia and Kosovo affect the question of ownership of those
coal reserves, and in what way?
Brussels Agreement on the energy does not comprise the issues of
property, therefore not even the ownership of mineral resources in
Kosovo and Metohija. Regardless of that, these negotiations required
a lot of courage and readiness to agree to compromises which were not
easy, but they were in Kosovo Serbs’ best interest. The most important
thing for us is that we have provided the stable electricity supply at the
North of Kosovo and Metohija, since we had the problem with electricity
supply every year, and it almost reached the level of humanitarian
disaster. At the North of Kosovo and Metohija “Elektrokosmet” will
become the electricity supplier and distributer, thus we will secure its
legitimacy and reliability of supply.

Annual overhauls in OPM “Tamnava West
Field”, ready for the winter conditions
By the completion of annual investment overhaul of the two
overburden systems of the OPM “Tamnava West Field”, the preparation
of the machinery for the operation during the winter conditions was
over.
For the first time a regular annual overhaul of the II ECS system was
performed. The works lasted from 25th of July until 20th of August,
while the First overburden system overhaul started on 22nd August, and
was over on 17th of September.
II overburden system during the whole year worked with the capacity
engagement of 30% above planned, and after the investment overhaul
it is expected to continue in the same way, on which Mr. Goran Tomić,
technical director of the OPM said:
There were no major problems during the overhaul. However, we had
a problem in early December, when the gear of the slewing drive gearbox
broke . We worked for three days with the 50% capacity, i.e. with one
gearbox, but “Metal” performed the repair and put also the other
gearbox back to the order.
Mr. Tomić pointed out that it is very important for this system to
operate with full capacity because it is necessary to open enough
quantities of coal timely for the future period.
On the older overburden system of this OPM, the annual overhaul
was shorted from 30 to 25 days because of the lack of the spare parts.
In order to provide the best possible operational readiness of the
equipment for the winter, all the works that have not been done during
the overhaul, will be completed in ten days of November.
Mr. Milomir Ivanković, the Head of Mechanical department, informed
us that on the BWE “Glodar 2000” operation ropes had been replaced,
cams on the three slewing drive gearboxes, two BC gearboxes, while two
slewing drive gearboxes underwent the regeneration in “Metal”. Other
more and less complicated jobs were also done.
Relocation of the road section

At the Open pit mine “Tamnava-West Field”, the works have been
continued on the final final relocation of the regional road RadljevoSkobalj since 1st August. If these activities are not completed by the end
of the year, the First overburden system will stop operating.
Ground works on the relocation have started last year and have been
performed by the mine employees so that the significant financial funds
could be saved. These works were continued on 1st August this year, and
the contractor is “Kolubara- Građevinar”, who made the most favorable
bid at the tender. The deadline for completion of the works is 135 days.
Three and a half up to four kilometers of the road will be relocated
to the southern area out of the mine. At the same time, water supply
network will be relocated.
Mining basin Kolubara introduces integrated
production system management for lignite
open pit mining

Overburden system of the Open Pit Mine “Veliki Crljeni”, which was
transferred to the OPM “Tamnava West Field” in the mid June when
investment repairs were carried out on the coal systems, still operates
in the combined operation mode. Three months after the integration
of the two Tamnava OPMs, production results show that the complete
procedure, strategically wieved, was absolutely justified.
Manager of the OPM “Veliki Crljeni”, Mr. Miloš Stanojević points out
that the comprehensive task of the excavator “glodar 2” relocation from
the OPM ”Tamnava East” to the “Tamnava West” was important for the
implementation of the combined production.
The system of a total length of 1540 m is set to perform combined
operation i.e. to produce both overburden and coal; with the difference
that coal is transferred onto the belt conveyor of the OPM “Tamnava
West Field”. This move has proved to be completely justified because in
the last three months we managed to maintain the production of the
BWE “glodar 2”, which was necessary taking into account the delayed
works of the second phase of the Kolubara riverbed relocation caused by
the problem of unsolved expropriation issues.
The integration of the systems of OPMs “Tamnava East” and “Tamnava
West” resulted in increased level of production. All this affected the
planned coal production from our OPM for this year so that four million
tons of lignite is going to be produced at the OPM “Veliki Crljeni” this year
out of the planned five millions. Simply put, we still save the coal from our
OPM exclusively for the process of coal homogenization and improvement
of quality of the coal being transported to the TPP “Nikola Tesla” in
Obrenovac - explains Mr. Stanojević.
Technical services of the OPM “Veliki Crljeni” and the overburden
system employees are working every day on the second phase of the
Kolubara riverbed relocation, helped by mechanical and electrical
support. Also during the year, two draglines took part in the operations
of the systems “101” and “103”, and from the mid August, the fault
occurred on the dragline 101, known as the “Big ten”, only one dragline
has been the part of the production process, which has additionally
slowed the operations.
“Dragline 10” that underwent the investment repair in the beginning of
the year, had in the meantime an accident caused by weld cracking on the
plate of the excavator structure. Discussions on further reparation process
with the expert sevices representatives of “Kolubara Metal” are under way,
and according to the preliminary defects lists, the repair of this machine is
going to include welding works in the duration of several days.
The dragline EŠ 103 has been engaged to serve chain conveyor
(“raker”) on coal retail, which is this year again organized in three shifts
due to a jump in coal demand that has come in respond to the good
quality of coal. The daily delivery from the loading point of the OPM
“Veliki Crljeni” was between 800 and 900 tons of high quality lignite.
Good quality of coal is recognized through the increased demand that
exceeds the quantities of coal available. At the end of September, the
loading point at the OPM “Veliki Crljeni” was closed, and the so called
consulmer consumption line was switched to the OPM “Tamnava West
Field”. However, what remains a major problem in the regular production
of coal in the youngest OPM of MB “Kolubara” is unresolved issue of
expropriation associated with this part of the coal basin since the very
beginning of lignite exploitation.
The exploitation of about half a million tons of coal is currently
blocked at a site near the Ibarska main road, within the “islands”. The
problem is also associated with setting up the mining system for which
the complete infrastructure that has not been expropriated has to be
fully observed, thus requiring additional organizational efforts.
An estimated amount of 10,219,000 tons of coal remains to be
excavated until the closure of OPM “Veliki Crljeni”, and according to Mr.
Stojanović the quantities of coal opened for mining currently amount
to 9,700,000 tons. These quantities will allow for the continuous, stable
and regular supply with high quality lignite for TPP “Nikola Tesla”, hence
ensuring stability of the national power industry.
Monitoring the OPMs development, design
engineering using company’s own resources
projects under the new Regulations, which will further enhance the
business reputation of this part of MB “Kolubara”.
Mr. Zoran Ilić points out that “Projekt” is the only organization which
by preparation of the main, additional and simplified mining designs
ensures the successful operation of the open pit mines of “Kolubara”.
– About the significance of our branch speaks the fact that about
40 engineers and 30 technicians are maximally engaged in developing
numerous documents for the purposes of MB “Kolubara”. Considering
that the average age of the employees was 44 years at some point, we
can proudly say that the young engineers are coming who will certainly
continue the successful path of their colleagues – says Mr. Ilić, who has
recently become the head of “Projekt”.

All designers and technicians of the Branch “Projekt”, which employs
more than 100 workers, are currently fully engaged working on different
tasks in the Mining Basin “Kolubara”. The Branch director, Mr. Zoran Ilić,
grad.min.eng, talks about the “Projekt” activities:
– As for the technical documentation, development of design
documents for the mining projects regarding ECS system of the
OPM “Veliki Crljeni” is in progress, as well as of the Field “D” in the
northwestern part, the external dumpsite of the First ESC system of the
Field “C” and the Main design of the OPM Field “G”.
Apart from mining, the “Projekt” experts also perform designing for
electrical engineering projects. That say, they are currently developing
the technical projects to relocate a section of the transmission line 35
KV “Mine 5” and “Mine 6”, transformer station “new” 35/6 KV, as well
as projects for relocating transmission line 35 KV “East 1”, “East 2” and
“East 3”. The technical design of the transformer station “Radljevo”
35/20/6 KV has been completed recently.
For the purposes of the Branch “Processing”, it has been worked on
the Technical mining project for the construction of the new cassette for
the ash and slag disposal for the Heating Plant.
Within the Main mining design of the industrial and infrastructural
facilities for the OPM Field “E”, the “Project” experts have completed 17
projects. In preparation of this document all the available services that
include architectural, construction, geological, electrical and mechanical
were engaged. Development of the Main design for relocation of the part
of the road Baroševac-Zeoke-Medoševac and fire station at the North
main road in Lazarevac, has started.
Among different projects, the designers currently work on
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study of the coal preparation
plants, as well as on Program of measures to mitigate the environmental
impact of the OPM Field “C” and “Tamnava-West Field”.
Following the adoption of the Low on Environment protection
and Law on Assessment of the Environmental Impact, the scope and
complexity of works of the employees have been increased. Since 2008
nine EIA studies and two Waste Management plans have been developed
successfully for the purposes of the Mining Basin “Kolubara”. “Project”

The Director of “Projekt”, Zoran Ilić, has been working in this
company for more than ten years; from 2002 to 2004 as a leading
designer, and from 2004 to date as Technical Director. After
graduation from Faculty of Mining and Geology in 1983, he starts
his working career two years later at the open pit mine “Field D”, as
the shift superior. He is the author of numerous papers and studies
as well as the participant in professional and scientific symposia and
conferences.
