DULUTH ENTERTAINMENT CONVENTION CENTER
350 Harbor Drive, Duluth, MN 55802
HOSTED BY:
Welcome to duluth
How to Get Here
By Air
Duluth International Airport is conveniently located just 10 minutes
from downtown. Daily flights are provided by Delta Airlines and
United Airlines to three major hubs, Minneapolis, Detroit and
Chicago—with connections to more than 120 domestic cities and
over 20 international destinations. Additional flights are available on
Allegiant Airlines through hubs in Las Vegas and Orlando.
About the Hosts
Harbor City Roller Dames’ (HCRD’s) wheels first started spinning
in January 2007. Bringing the fastest growing sport in the nation
to the Twin Ports began to seem like merely a hard-hitting dream
as we skated up against a number of obstacles along the way. But,
thankfully, we could never shake the passion and commitment to
seeing our league succeed. In October 2009, we became skaterowned and hit the track for our first official competitive season!
We have invited leagues from around the Midwest and Canada
to skate by the lake. We have also traveled to compete against
neighboring leagues in Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Iowa, as well as
Ontario, Canada. We were accepted as a member of the Women’s
Flat Track Roller Derby Association (WFTDA) in June of 2013.
HCRD is owned and operated entirely by dedicated skaters.
As a league, we work to give back to our community by making
donations and taking part in events that benefit local, charitable,
nonprofit organizations.
There is also the option of flying to Minneapolis Airport [www.
mspairport.com/] and then driving or shuttling to Duluth. Skyline
Shuttle offers affordable daily shuttle vans between Duluth and
Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and there are six daily
departure times to choose from. Call (888) 354-2677 to reserve
your seat or visit Skyline Shuttle for online reservations. They
provide direct drop off to the Duluth Entertainment Convention
Center (DECC) and surrounding hotels.
By Bus
Jefferson Busline has limited hours and locations available; however,
to see if they can help with your travel needs, go to their Website
[www.jeffersonlines.com/book-your-trip.asp] and click on “book
your trip.” It will take you through the steps to help you decide if
Jefferson Busline is the right travel option for you.
By Car
From eastern Canada, follow the edge of Lake Superior along the
internationally renowned North Shore Drive, otherwise known as
Scenic Highway 61, approximately 194 miles southwest of Thunder
Bay, Ontario. From western Canada, travel Highway 53 through
the iron-rich Iron Range of northern Minnesota—the iron that
built a nation—just 397 miles from Winnipeg, Manitoba. From
points south (and much of the world is south of Minnesota) you’ll
probably come through the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul,
Minnesota, 156 miles on Interstate 35; or through Chicago, 465
miles northwest across Wisconsin. But no matter which way you
come, it’s a beautiful drive with a breathtaking destination.

Registration
Team Rooms
Credentials must be worn at all times in order to obtain access
to the venue and to participant-only areas. There is a $30 fee to
replace lost or stolen credentials.
There will be designated areas to leave your gear when not assigned
a locker room and these will be in credential-only areas. The
DECC, the WFTDA, and HCRG assume no responsibility for
items left unattended.
Registration will be held on Thursday, at the Holiday Inn & Suites
Downtown Duluth, from 7 PM to 10 PM, at which time skaters,
officials and other credentialed participants will complete required
paperwork and receive their tournament credentials.
Track Floor, Warm-Up Space, and
Warm-Up Times
“The DECC skating surface is polished concrete, with a slick and
smooth slide to it. The venue is climate controlled, so the floor does
not sweat in the summer. Skaters generally wear 88 to 93 wheels
with comfort on this surface.”
- Violent Baudelaire, Harbor City Roller Dames
The venue will be open by 8:00 AM Friday morning for skaters and
officials who wish to test the floor.
There will be a warm-up area closed to the public. It will not be a full
regulation track, but will be pillar-free and on the same surface as
the regulation track. Teams will be allowed to warm up on the actual
track during the half-time of the game prior to their own, as well as
in the 20-30 minutes before the start of their bout.
Medical Assistance
The WFTDA Emergency Action Plan requires the WFTDA, as
tournament host, to provide trained, certified emergency medical
responders should an injury occur on the track. Only the WFTDAprovided EMTs may go onto the track or players benches to access
or treat a skater or official. Once removed from the playing area, if
the skater or official wishes to use their own medical provider, s/he
may refuse additional treatment.
There are built-in locker rooms and these will be assigned based on
the tournament schedule. Please note these rooms will be shared
by all teams. Please leave the team rooms in better condition than
you found them.
There will be a designated area for officials, announcers, and
credentialed photographers and media. Please clean up after
yourselves since there are quite a large number of you using s
hared space.
WFTDA Rules

to your belongings at any time without warning. Trackside
seating is at your own risk.
•
You must remain seated in the trackside seating area. Keep your

Event Transportation
Around Town
Once you get here, getting around couldn’t be simpler. You’ll find
convenient parking, taxi service, and bus transportation provided
by the Duluth Transit Authority. In the summer, you can take a
leisurely ride on the Port Town Trolley around downtown and Canal
Park. Most places, however, are just as easy to get to by walking—
don’t worry, most everything downtown is linked by a climatecontrolled skywalk. And remember, motorcoach parking is always
available and always free at all Duluth hotels and motels.

506 W Michigan St, Duluth 55802
History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore
Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a
day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through
downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior
and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell
the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads
that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.
