October 2 Feast of Guardian Angel
Today we celebrate the Feast of our Guardian
Angel. Let us reflect on this beautiful Prayer to the
Guardian Angels below:
Prayer to the Guardian Angels
My good
comest from heaven; God
LiturgyAngel,

HC (Explore)
has sent thee to take care of me. Oh, shelter me
under thy wings. Lighten my path, direct my steps.
Do not leave me, stay quite near me and defend
me against the spirit of evil. But above all come to
my help in the last struggle of my life. Deliver my
soul so that with thee it may praise, love and
contemplate the goodness of God forever and
ever. Amen
MAP Testing
MAP testing will be starting next week Monday,
October 6, for students in kindergarten through
grade 8. Please make sure your child gets plenty
of rest and a good breakfast so they can perform
to the best of their ability.
Fire Prevention Week October 5-11
Working smoke alarms can make a life-saving
difference in a fire. That’s the message behind this
year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Working
Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every
Month!” Kaukauna Fire Department will be visiting
classrooms throughout the month of October to
promote fire safety to students. Our
prekindergarten class will be taking a field trip to
the Kaukauna Fire Department on October 15 to
learn about fire safety. This is a good time to go
over your home fire escape plan and test your
smoke
alarms
with
your
family.
To learn more about smoke alarms and “Working
Smoke Alarms Saves Lives”, visit NFPA’s Web
site at www.firepreventionweek.org

Mission Statement: Kaukauna Catholic School System ~ Excellence in Education and Catholic Faith
Monday
The Cardinal Virtue of Prudence aims to perfect the natural power of
judging correctly, or to put it simply, it aims to perfect “common sense”
choices. Example: When we see a flame we do not touch it because we
know it will harm us because it is hot.
Tuesday
The Cardinal Virtue of Prudence guides us in making good moral choices.
Example: You are taking a test in school and not sure of an answer so do
you put down your own answer or do you look over at your classmate’s
answer? Which do you think would be a good moral choice?
Wednesday
In the Book of Tobit, we are advised: “Seek advice from every wise man,
and do not despise any useful counsel. Bless the Lord God on every
occasion; ask him that your ways may be made straight and that all your
paths and plans may prosper” (The Book of Tobit 4:18-19).
This passage encourages us to learn and take counsel from others in true
humility. It also encourages us to seek the Lord’s assistance. Through the
gift of counsel, one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, prudence is purified and
directed toward our ultimate good, God Himself.
Thursday
Prudence is often called the first of the cardinal virtues. As the “charioteer
of the virtues,” it guides the other virtues and guides the judgment of
conscience. Indeed, there is no way we can have a well-formed conscience
without the virtue of prudence.
All Kaukauna Catholic School System families with children ages Preschool through Grade 5
are invited to a Halloween party on the KCSS playground at the Holy Cross parish parking lot
on Thursday, October 23rd. The evening includes fun for the whole family. We will have a
pizza dinner, car decorating contest, and of course, Trick or Treat! Adults are encouraged to
dress in costume too!
The schedule for the evening is as follows:
5:00-6:00
Arrive, decorate vehicles, and eat dinner
6:00-7:00
Trick or Treat and announce the winners of the car decorating contest
$7 will reserve your spot on the parking lot AND dinner for the ENTIRE family. Dinner includes
pizza, fruit, and beverage.
Guidelines for trick or treating:
1. If you wish to trick or treat, come dressed in a costume. Parents are encouraged to
dress in costume also!
2. Visit each haunting spot only once.
3. Be courteous to others. Wait your turn, no running, no butting in line, etc.
Families can outfit their vehicle with any Halloween or themed decoration; the more creative,
the better.
Remember to bring:
 Treats for the trick-or-treaters – plan for about 250 students.
 Chairs to set up by your trunk for giving out treats and eating dinner.
 Other beverages/snacks for your family during trick or treating. No alcohol, as this is a
family school activity.
 Lantern to help light you’re spot in the parking lot.
Trunk N’ Treat will be moved inside if the weather is not opportune for outdoor activities.
Questions? Contact Melanie Heindl [email protected] or 920-540-0419.
