A newly ordained deacon was assigned to his first parish at Easter time. When Sunday came, the congregation was eager to form their initial judgment. To their relief and delight, his homily was excellent. The following Sunday, the crowds increased significantly because the news had spread throughout the town. To the surprise of those who attended the first Sunday, the deacon proceeded to give the same homily. Some people thought that the homily was so good that it deserved repeating, but others were confused. The third, fourth and fifth Sundays were all the same repeated homily. Finally, the congregation approached the deacon, thanked him for his message and asked him whether he had other homilies and when they would hear these. “Of course, I have many other homilies.” The deacon continued, “I promise that I will move to my next sermon as soon as I see you doing some good in response to my first homily. But until we grasp the truth of the Resurrection and allow our lives to reflect it, what would be the point of any further discussion?” The point of story is that need to live challenges of Gospel with Easter joy of resurrection. this we the the the His PEACE BE WITH YOU!
