Lifeline - Calvary Apostolic Church
CALVARY APOSTOLIC CHURCH, UPCI La Crosse, Wisconsin The Basic fundamental doctrine of this organization shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for remission of sins, and baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. We shall endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit until we all come into the unity of the faith, at the same time admonishing all brethren that they shall not contend for their different views to the disunity of the body. Ephesians 3:20 Calvary Apostolic Church Rufus M. Parker, Pastor 1353 Charles Street La Crosse, WI 54603 http://www.caclacrosse.org 608-782-6497 ACTUAL CHURCH SIGNS: Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the snake, and the Solid Foundation "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ" 1 Corinthians 3:11 Every building that is built is set on a foundation. The foundation is the most essential part of the construction process. If the foundation isn't laid correctly or if the wrong ingredients are used in the cement mixture, the building is sure to fall. Paul goes on to tell us, "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is" (1 Corinthians 3:10-13). He said that he had laid the foundation. So many people are trying to build their lives, but they are not building it on a sure foundation. A sure foundation has proven that it can stand and withhold the weight that is placed upon it. A sure foundation has weathered the storms. Jesus tells us to cast our cares upon Him. No matter how much weight we may be carrying, Jesus can bear the load. Paul’s ministry was all about Jesus Christ, the foundation of the church. This foundation is under constant scrutiny by so many today as being wrong. And from every aspect of the world, it is under attack to be broken up and discarded. snake didn't have a leg to stand on! GUYS’ PRAYER 1st & 3rd SATURDAYS May 4th & 18th 7:00 am Sunday School We have started a new series entitled, “Faith, Hope and Love.” If all people lived by the golden rule “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” there would be heaven on earth. Learning to love your neighbor and treat each other with honor and respect should begin when you are a tiny child. Bad habits are hard to break later. During the month of May our lessons and memory work will focus on these central truths: May 5: Love your neighbor Memory Verse: Matthew 7:12(a) May 12: Love your enemies Memory Verse: Matthew 5:44 May 19: Love the brethren Memory Verse: I John 3:16 May 26: Hope, the expectation of good Memory Verse: Romans 12:12 Parents and Grandparents: Each week the children are given a take-home sheet that contains their memory verse and a word search. The word search contains key words and phrases that have been taught during the lesson, puppet show, Bible story, and object lesson. Completing and discussing the activity sheet will allow you to review the concepts taught with your child. These are great conversation starters and also reinforce the lesson! I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 1 Timothy 2:8 Guys G.R.O.W. (W.O.W. is for all kids ages 5 to 12.) “Christianity was always intended to be a verb. We’ve got to act on God ideas. We’ve got to obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit. We’ve got to seize opportunities to serve. Talk is cheap, and we have cheapened the gospel long enough.” Mark Batterson, Primal: A Quest for the Lost Soul of Christianity A HUGE thank you to all those that helped with the “Ties That Bind” Hyphen Event! MISSIONS SUNDAY is May 5th FOCUSED MISSIONARY: Kay & Ken Burgess COUNTRY OF APPOINTMENT: El Salvador Ken and Kay Burgess were appointed missionaries in October, 1991, this after 27 months on the AIM program. The Burgesses have one son, Kameron, who is currently attending Indiana Bible College. These servants of God began their 5th term as Career Missionaries in Argentina in February, 2010. After serving as president of Argentina for 7 years, once they arrived back on the field, Br. Burgess stepped down. So, the Burgesses transferred to the small but revival-packed nation of El Salvador in the Central American Region. As Missionary Supervisor in El Salvador, Br. Burgess serves as Director of the Pentecostal Bible Institute and on the National Board of El Salvador, and together these missionaries are currently working with the Iglesia Pentecostal Unida Internacional de El Salvador and the Instituto Bíblico Pentecostal Nueva Vida of El Salvador. Sis. Burgess was named Director of a National Pastors’ Wives Ministry and manages the National Bookstore. Together, they travel throughout the nation teaching, preaching, and speaking in special events and local churches.” A song...I want to sing to you....
