BOARD OF TRUSTEES GARDINER SCHOOL DISTRICTS 7&4 GARDINER, PARK COUNTY, MONTANA 59030 §20-9-204(3) MCA Ken Ballagh’s Award & Retirement Yellowstone’s Wonder Revealed in New Geology Film Behind a great school lies a great principal. Ken Ballagh, principal at Gardiner Schools for the past 18 years, received the Montana Council of Administrators of Special Education (MCASE) Distinguished Service Award at the Montana Council of Exceptional Children (MCEC) Conference in Missoula, on April 16th. Ken was granted this award in recognition and appreciation of his leadership and commitment to the students and staff at Gardiner Schools and his support and effort in providing good, sound, and solid educational programs to all students. Ken will be recognized for this award again at the School Administrators (SAM) Evening of Excellence on June 16. Although there are too many to include, Ken has many outstanding qualities as a school administrator, which many admire and respect. Leland Stocker, the superintendent in Gardiner stated, “Ken is humble and possesses a servant’s heart.” This is apparent in the things Ken does behind the scenes for the students and staff in the school and programs he oversees. Laurie Smith, the special education teacher stated. “In short, Ken ‘walks the walk’ when it comes to caring for the welfare of his students.” He believes in the ability of every child to succeed and supports this through the implementation of the Response to intervention process in grades kindergarten through 6th grade, as well as other programs and activities that have been introduced over his tenure. His expectations are high for students and staff alike, but he provides the support needed for success. Failure is not an option. His belief is find the correct intervention and the learner will be successful. Sadly, Ken is retiring at the end of this school year. He will be greatly missed and leaves behind a legacy that will be difficult to follow. 2 SERAFIN CONSTRUCTION Gardiner Pharmacy SERVICES & ADVERTISEMENTS 406.848.9430 * New Construction * Renovations *Restorations * Design/Build Fill your prescriptions Monday thru Friday 9am-6pm (Lunch 1-2:30) Service Master Of Livingston Livingston, MT 59047 406.222.5865 SPRING INTO SUMMER CLEANING Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Offering you a great Vitamin selection and fulfilling your Electronic needs.
