PSA Releases the 2015 Philippine Standard

The philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has completed the online database of the
2015 Phiiippine Standard Commodity Classification (PSCC), integrating-the
Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Harmonized Tariff
Association
(AHTN)
based on the Harmonized Commodity Descriptio_n and
Nomenclature
Coding System (HS) issued by the World Customs Organizations (WCO) and
Standird internationalTrade Classification (SITC) by the United Nations Statistics
Division (UNSD). The 2015 PSCC replaces the 2004 PSCC which was aligned
with the 2002 HS and20Q4 AHTN.

T'he online database is now available on the PSA website and can be accessed

The pSCC is a detailed classification of all commodities on imports and exports
being used for tariff and statistical purposes. lt serves as a standard statistical
nom6nclature for economic analysis as well as for planning and policy formulation;
as a standard scheme on commodity groupings or classes necessary for
maintaining continuity of existing series on trade statistics and for international
comparabillty of the iountry's trade statistics; and as an aid in the implementation
of tariff and trade regulations.

The 2015 pSCC now includes one-to-one correspondence with the 2004 PSCC,
2007 AHTN, and the 2012 AHTN which is in line with the ASEAN's thrust to
harmonize commodity classification towards the ASEAN regional integration.
The interagency PSA Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and
Classificatiins (1CSSC) and its Technical Working Group on Commodity
Classification tiWCCCi chaired by the Tariff Commission reviewed and
recommended the adoption of the 2015 PSCC in the Philippine Statistical System
(PSS).

The PSA Executive Board approved the 2015 PSCC and prescribed its adoption in the PSS
on December 28,2015 through PSA Resolution No. 5, Series of 2015.
