Here are some ideas for potential opportunities to support Coffee Break in your school community: Course Project Bake Sale Challenge Days Incorporate into the curriculum! Some schools have used this as a marketing or culinary program project (e.g., market coffee/tea/hot chocolate stations as a school buyout opportunity with culinary assistance). Bake sale with donation box and profits going towards Coffee Break. Staff vs. Students in competitions Dress up/down Day Baseball game Movie Day Basketball game Students make a donation to the Coffee Break and can get out of class to watch a movie with their friends in the gym or specified classroom enjoying a bag of popcorn while they watch. Volleyball Game Floor Hockey Soccer Game Chess Games Checkers Games Crazy Hat Day Hawaiian Day 80’s Day Special Days Tacky Day Profits made from special days are donated to Coffee Break. PJ Day Pizza Day Princess/Superhero Day Hot Dog Day Ice Cream Day Popsicle Day Drink Days (Juice Pop Milk etc.) Flea Market Art Day Students and teachers bring in used toys, books, or other items to offer for sale with proceeds supporting Coffee Break. Games Day Staff or students plan the certain day in advance and have students pay a certain amount to participate. A-Thons Students get pledges for participating and then take part in the event. Dance-a-thon Walk-a-thon Read-a-thon Admission is charged to watch the challenges with proceeds benefiting Coffee Break. Spelling Bee Run a spelling bee within each class where students buy into the challenge. Then host a class vs. class championship in an assembly to raise the challenge. Fun Fair Partial funds from the event are donated to Coffee Break. Trivial Pursuit All of the funds raised throughout the Niagara Region stay here for our Client Services Programs that provide quality of life for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias as well as their families and partners in care. Students, staff and parents can buy into playing other parents and families in Trivial Pursuit or other games for a night. You could have coffee and treats for sale as another bonus to boost donations. Car Wash IDEAS On How Your School Can... The profits or partial profits can be donated to Coffee Break. This can be done as an after school or weekend event with parents. Cup Collection Each class has a coffee cup in their class room for a certain amount of time and they put their donations in the cup. The challenge to each class would be how many cups of money they can donate. Guess How Many Candies in a jar Pencils in a holder without counting Pay .25 or .50 to guess.
