This also has no effect on the bike/pedestrian trails (Interurban, Wabash, Lost Bridge and Bunn to Lost Bridge) owned and or maintained by the Park District. Park District Waiver: A Waiver and Release of All Claims form must be signed when registering yourself or your minor child for Springfield Park District programs and/or memberships. Registration waivers are available at all Park District facilities or online at www.springfieldparks.org. Photo Disclaimer: Registrants and participants of programs and special events permit the Springfield Park District to take photos and videos of themselves and their children for publication in the program catalog, website and additional uses as the Springfield Park District deems necessary. Residency Policy: The Springfield Park District is committed to serving the residents of the Springfield Park District. A resident is defined as anyone living within the boundaries of the Springfield Park District. Residents support the Springfield Park District facilities and programs through property taxes and therefore receive preferred rates for many of the services provided by the Springfield Park District. Thank you for your cooperation. Warning of Risk: Recreational activities/programs are intended to challenge and engage the physical, mental, and emotional resources of each participant. Despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any recreational activity/program. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. Depending on the particular activity, participants must understand that certain risks, dangers, and injuries due to inclement weather, slipping, falling, poor skill level or conditioning, carelessness, horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision, instruction or officiating, and all other circumstances inherent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities/programs exist. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Springfield Park District to guarantee absolute safety. Facilities Policy: All facilities participants are expected to follow the rules of the facilities. Specialty areas of the facilities have posted signs stating special rules specific to that area. Disregard or abuse of facility rules may result in removal by staff or police from the facility for a designated length of time or permanently. Vandalism Alert: The Springfield Park District has experienced vandalism within several of its parks and buildings. We need your eyes and your help to stop these criminal acts. If you witness the act of vandalism please call the police immediately and report it by calling 911. If you notice graffiti and property damage in the parks or district buildings please call the Springfield Park District Police at 698-6030. You may also make a report on the comment area on the website at springfieldparks.org. Any assistance from our residents would be greatly appreciated in reporting and putting an end to these crimes. The Springfield Park District will prosecute these senseless acts to the full extent of the law. L.E.A.P. programs are for individuals from pre-school through adult. Special populations we serve include but are not limited to: learning disabilities, physically impaired, behavior problems, visually impaired, multiple disabilities, or those with any other special needs. All attempts are made to place participants in programs according to their disability, age and peer group. ATTENTION CHATHAM RESIDENTS! Through a strong partnership with the Village of Chatham, the Springfield Park District jointly provides a wide range of programming for individuals with disabilities. Transportation to our after school program is also available through the Ball-Chatham school district. The Alley Catz bowling league offers a great opportunity for socializing. All participants must register one week in advance. Location: King Pin Lanes Age Day Time Date R/NR Fees (per session) 8+ Tue 3:15-4:45pm 9/6-11/29 $16/24 WEDNESDAYS Game Night Come join us for a night of fun and games such as BINGO, card games, and board games. This program is geared to a group setting and involves some physical activity. Participants must register one week in advance! This class will teach the basics of independent cooking with a focus on learning to use small kitchen appliances, cooking hygiene and safety, and healthy eating. Special Olympics is a way to promote fun, sportsmanship, friendship, independence and good health for the special needs population. Along with the Springfield Park District, Special Olympics Illinois is offering year-round programs with a wide range of sports for athletes to choose from. With instruction in beginning skills to world-wide competition, athletes are invited to explore this program. Registration Registration and medical physicals are required. These may be acquired through Annette Reese. For any questions or concerns please contact Annette at 585-2941 ext. 2303 (office) or 306-6122 (cell). Practice times and locations will be given to each individual participant upon completion of all forms. YOU MUST HAVE A VALID SPECIAL OLYMPICS PHYSICAL ON FILE prior to the start of each program. Join skills or team. THIS PROGRAM IS HELD OUTSIDE. You do not need to compete in Special Olympics to be in this program. Location: Lincoln Park (next to the pool) Snowshoe Age Day Time Date R/NR Fees 8+ Sat 9-10:30am 2/4-6/10 $20/25 Love the winter months? Then Snowshoe is the sport for you! This program will teach even a beginner the fundamentals of snowshoeing. No previous experience is needed! Learn how to race in snowshoes. You do not have to compete in Special Olympics to be in this program. Location: Erin's Pavilion Age Day Time Date R/NR Fees 8+ Sat 10:30-11:30am 10/1-1/10 $20/25 Softball Softball skills; T-ball and team play is offered to keep busy during the summer months. Just for fun and exercise or competition in Special Olympics we invite you to join the program, available starting in June and running to the Fall for state games in September. Location: Lincoln Park Age Day Time Date R/NR Fees 8+ Sun 9-10:30am 4/3-7/30 $20/25 Bocce A great one-on-one event or a doubles effort. Learn the game of Bocce, where throwing a little white ball, and then trying to throw the red and green balls to get as close to it as possible while standing 60 feet away.
