emotional resources of each participant. Despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning
and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any recreational activity/program. Understandably,
not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. Depending on the particular activity, participants must understand that
certain risks, dangers, and injuries due to inclement weather, slipping, falling, poor skill level or conditioning, carelessness,
horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision,
instruction or officiating, and all other circumstances inherent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities/programs exist. In
this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Springfield Park District to guarantee absolute safety.
Facilities Policy: All facilities participants are expected to follow the rules of the facilities. Specialty areas of the facilities

SESSION ONE August 24 - September 28
Basic Ballroom
There is no prerequisite for this class. Learn the basics of Waltz, Foxtrot,
Rhumba, and a “taste” of Swing. This "jumpstart" class will get you
dancing to several types of music quickly and is the prerequisite for all
Rhumba, Waltz, and Foxtrot classes that follow. A perfect place to
get started.
6-7pm
Basic West Coast Swing
There is no prerequisite for this class. This medium tempo swing can be
danced to rock n’ roll, swing and blues music. This class will cover all
the 6-count basic step patterns and more; it is the basis for West Coast
Swing I next session.
7:15-8:15pm
Rhumba II (2)
The prerequisite for this class is Rhumba I skills. This “dance of love”
class will add step patterns and technique to your Rhumba I skills. Rhumba, a slow – moderate tempo Latin-based dance, can be danced to all
your ballroom and contemporary favorites, with or without a Latin beat. This class will definitely take your ‘moves’ to the next level. 8:30-9:30pm
SESSION TWO October 12 - November 16
Nite Club 2-Step
There is no prerequisite for this class. Nite Club is a great dance for any
social occasion; informal and easy to learn. Dance Nite Club to slower
contemporary rock and to your favorite romantic oldies. A dance you will
use a lot.
6-7pm
West Coast Swing I
The prerequisite for this class is Basic West Coast Swing skills. Continue
your West Coast skills with more advanced 6-count and 8-count patterns
and techniques; a must for those with basic skills and for those who want
to “up” their presence on the dance floor.
7:15-8:15pm
All Samba
There is no prerequisite for this class. Samba is an upbeat and lively
Brazilian dance that can be danced to both traditional and contemporary
Latin-style music. It is a favorite of ours and will soon be a favorite
of yours.
