Jedes Jahr dürfen wir als Festival uns neu
erfinden und neue Wege gehen. Die Filmauswahl blieb bis zum letzten Augenblick spannend. Welche Filme machen das Rennen und
schaffen wir es, allen unseren Favoriten den
Weg auf die Leinwand des Cinema Rex freizuräumen? Zuweilen direkt von der Berlinale
oder dem Sundance Festival zu uns.
Wir können uns mit dem Programm und
unseren Juroren und Jurorinnen sehr glücklich
schätzen. Anhand unseres dritten Filmjahrgangs können wir erneut menschliche Höhen
und Abgründe ausloten. Die Filmemacher und
Schauspieler beweisen Mut und Phantasie.
Dieses Jahr haben wir als Neuerung einen
Schauspielworkshops von unserer Jurorin
Sigrid Andersson, und wir konnten den wunderbaren Pianisten Murat Parlak für unser
Festival gewinnen.
Des Weiteren sind wir erfreut, neue Partner gefunden zu haben wie die Ernst Göhner
Stiftung, die PostAuto Schweiz AG und Helvetia Versicherungen.
Beim Saas-Fee Filmfest haben Sie die
einmalige Chance, die Filme mit unseren
Jurys zu sehen und Schulter an Schulter mit
bekannten Schauspielern und Regisseuren
zu sitzen. Wir haben national und international treue Fans gewinnen können und freuen
uns, Sie alle wieder im Cinema Rex begrüssen zu dürfen, wenn es heisst: „Film ab“!

As a festival every year we have the
chance to reinvent ourselves. Selecting the
programme was exciting until the very last
moment. Which films are going to make it
into the selection and can we pave for our
favorites the way to the screen of Cinema
Rex? Sometimes coming straight from Berlinale or the Sundance festival.
We are very happy with this year’s programme and with our wonderful jurors. The
films of the third edition once again provide
us with a glimpse of the extremes of human nature. The filmmakers and actors have
shown a lot of courage and imagination.
As a novelty in this year’s programme we
are offering an acting workshop lead by our
jury member Sigrid Andersson, and we are
glad to have Murat Parlak as a fantastic pianist at our festival.
Furthermore, we can present some new
partners such as Ernst Göhner Stiftung,
PostAuto AG and Helvetia Insurances.
At Saas-Fee Filmfest you have the unique
opportunity to watch the films together with
our juries and to sit next to famous actors
and directors. Together with national and
international fans we are looking forward to
meeting again in Cinema Rex, when we call:

Stéphane Brizés Film LA LOI DU Marché identifiziert und macht zum Thema,
was in vielen anderen Filmen im diesjährigen
Wettbewerb als Seitengeschichte oder Subtext vorkommt: Die Enge des Kapitalismus
spiegelt sich etwa in WILD in Form der rigiden
Arbeitshierarchie im kreativen Start-up, in JE
SUIS UN SOLDAT in dem Raster, durch das
die Hauptfigur fällt, in DEUX RÉMI, DEUX in
einem absurden Büroalltag oder in SUPERWELT im feinsäuberlichen, bonbonfarbenen
täglichen Horror, aus dem die Protagonistin
ausbricht. Es scheint, als ob die Zwänge, die
LA LOI ... artikuliert, das kinematographische
Auge dieses Filmjahrgangs radikalisieren und
ganz entgegengesetzte filmische Strategien
hervorbringen. Einerseits den unerbittlich
forschenden Blick, der sich nicht abwendet
und sich in fast dokumentarischer Weise an
die Realität anheftet, wie dies neben LA LOI
DU Marché auch NAPOLI JUNGLE wagt,
und andererseits die traumähnliche Entrückung aus derselben Realität durch oftmals
nur kleinste Verschiebungen, wie sie die Kinoträume WILD, DER NACHTMAHR und
ALOYS voller Lust zelebrieren.

mit uns, unseren wunderbaren Jurys und

Stéphane Brizé’s film THE MEASURE OF
A MAN identifies and thematizes what appears
in many other films in this year’s competition
as a side story or subtext: the narrowness of
capitalism is reflected for example in WILD
in the shape of the rigid working hierarchy in
the creative start-up, in JE SUIS UN SOLDAT
in the protagonist’s fall through the cracks, in
DEUX RÉMI, DEUX in an absurd office routine
or in SUPERWELT in the neat, candy coloured
day-to-day horror, the protagonist breaks out
from. It seems that the constraints articulated
by THE MEASURE ... radicalize the cinematographic eye of this film year and produce
the most contradictory filmic strategies. On
the one hand a relentless exploring gaze, that
doesn’t look away and glues itself to reality in
an almost documentary style, like besides THE
MEASURE ... NAPOLI JUNGLE dares to show.
And on the other hand the dream-like state of being elevated from reality, often only
through a minimal shift, as celebrated in
the sensual cinematic dreams WILD, DER
NACHTMAHR and ALOYS.

ist eine schweizerisch-französische Regisseurin. Sie studierte Regie am Institut des
Arts de Diffusion in Belgien. Sie war SecondAssistent bei zwei Filmen von Alain Tanner
und inszenierte selbst mehrere Kurzfilme.
Ihr erster Langfilm HOME feierte seine Premiere 2008 auf der Critics’ Week in Cannes.
Ihr zweiter Film L’ENFANT D’EN HAUT wurde im Wettbewerb der Berlinale 2012 gezeigt
und gewann dort einen Silbernen Bären.
Beide Filmen wurden als schweizer Beitrag
für den Besten fremdsprachigen Film für die
Oscars 2009 bzw. 2013 eingereicht.
In Wien geboren, lebt er heute in Berlin
und ist einem internationalen Publikum vor
allem durch seine Hauptrolle in Benjamin
Heisenbergs DER RÄUBER (2010 im Wettbewerb der Berlinale) und seine Rolle in Götz
Spielmanns REVANCHE (Oscar-Nominierung für besten ausländischen Film 2009)
bekannt geworden. Für DER RÄUBER wurde
er 2011 mit dem Österreichischen Filmpreis
als bester Schauspieler ausgezeichnet. Neben zahlreichen anderen TV- und Kinofilmen
seit 1993 ist er seit Jahren auch ( 4. Staffel
wird ab Mai gedreht )in einer durchgehenden
Rolle der bekannten ORF TV-Serie SCHNELL
ERMITTELT zu sehen.
Nach ihrem Schauspielstudium wurde
Andersson 2 Jahre lang von George Shdanoff an der Los Angeles Theater Company
zum Filmcoach ausgebildet. 2002 gründete
sie Die Tankstelle - für Künstler zum Auftanken! Seit über 28 Jahren coacht Sigrid
Andersson Schauspieler und Regisseure und
hat diese bei ihren Drehvorbereitungen für
mehr als 400 Kino- und Fernsehfilme unterstützt. In den letzten 9 Jahren hat sie 14
Coaches jeweils über ca. 1,5 Jahre nach dem
Andersson-System ausgebildet.

is a Swiss-French director who studied
film at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion in
Belgium. She was second assistant director
on two films by Alain Tanner while also making her own short films. Her first feature
for cinema HOME premiered at the 2008
Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week. Her next
film SISTER was shown in Competition at the
2012 Berlinale and won a Silver Bear Special
Award. Both films were the Swiss submissions for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar,
HOME in 2009 and SISTER in 2013.

Die Pariserin Caroline (Isabelle Carré) fährt in ein kleines
Dorf im Süden Frankreichs, um dort die Beerdigung für ihre
verstorbene Mutter, eine kapriziöse Anwältin, die sie kaum
kannte, zu organisieren. Nach ihrer Ankunft wird Caroline
direkt von Pattie (Karin Viard), einer Freundin der Mutter,
willkommen geheissen, die es liebt von ihren Affären mit den
Männern des Ortes zu berichten. Während sich das ganze
Tal auf das traditionelle Mittsommernachtsfest vorbereitet,
verschwindet die Leiche von Carolines Mutter spurlos. Die
Polizei hat gerade die Theorie aufgestellt, ein abgewiesener
Liebhaber könnte hinter der Sache stecken, als der mysteriöse Schriftsteller Jean (André Dussolier) auftaucht ...

Parisian Caroline (Isabelle Carré) travels to a little village
in the South of France, to organize the funeral of her mother,
a capricious lawyer, whom she barely used to see. Caroline is
welcomed by Pattie (Karin Viard), who likes to talk about her
love affairs with the local men.
While the whole valley gets ready for the traditional midsummer dance, the body of Caroline’s mother disappears without a trace. It’s not long after the police comes up with the
theory of a rejected admirer being responsible for the crime,

Aloys Adorn is a middle aged private detective who lives
and works with his father. He experiences life from a safe distance, through a video camera he keeps recording 24 hours
a day, and the massive collection of surveillance tapes he organizes and obsessively watches at home. But when his father
dies, Aloys is left on his own and his sheltered existence begins to fall apart. After a night of heavy drinking, Aloys wakes up on a public bus to find that his camera and precious
observation tapes have been stolen. Soon after, a mysterious
woman calls to blackmail him. She offers to return the tapes
if Aloys will try an obscure Japanese invention called ’telephone walking’ with her, using his imagination as their only
connection. As he is drawn deeper and deeper, falling in love
with the voice on the other end of the phone, the woman
opens up a new universe that may allow Aloys to break out of
his isolation and into the real world ...
From Aloys’s point of view we experience, how against
his will his very own world bends outwards, for the first time
towards a counterpart, in an infecting debut feature, that
blurs the boundaries between day and dream.

Drei Kapitel, drei Generationen. Giggino, ein 50-jähriger Hansdampf in allen Gassen, Restaurantpoet und kleiner
Strassendieb. Sein Vater Antonio, ein pensionierter Stahlarbeiter um die 80, der nostalgisch an seine Arbeitsstätte zurückdenkt und an das, was sie einst repräsentierte. Antonio
ist aber auch Maradona-Experte und lässt sich nicht lange
bitten, wenn einer seine Heldentaten während seiner goldenen Neapolitaner Jahre erzählt bekommen will. Und schliesslich Marco, ein 18-jähriger Lehrling in einem Feinkostladen,
der sich eine Zukunft aufbauen will, ohne zu wissen, wie man
es anstellt. Alle drei inmitten des Dschungels von Bagnoli, einem bevölkerungsreichen Viertel der Grossstadt Neapel, in
dem der Lebenssinn verlorenging und noch kein Ersatz dafür
gefunden wurde.
Antonio Capuano ist immer für eine Überraschung gut,
mit diesem berührenden und schrägen, aus der Hüfte geschossenen Stück direct cinema erfindet er sich nach diversen Teilnahmen im Wettbewerb von Venedig neu.

Tina is 17 years old and seemingly has everything a girl her
age could wish for. But one night after an intense party, she
begins having severe nightmares. From this point forward she
is haunted daily by a profoundly hideous creature. The only
one with whom she talks about her fears is her psychiatrist,
who encourages her to get in touch with the creature. Out
of fear of being taken for a freak by her friends and family,
she hides the creature in her room. And as time goes by she
is less and less disgusted by it. The creature turns out to be a
friendly, polite fellow, although a bit autistic. A trusting relationship develops between Tina and the creature, much like
with a stray pet ...

A luxury ski resort in Switzerland. 12-year-old Simon (Kacey Mottet Klein) lives in
the industrial valley below, with his jobless
sister, Louise (Léa Seydoux). Every day, he
takes the ski-lift to the opulent ski world above, stealing equipment from the rich tourists
to resell to the local kids back down in the
valley. As he partners with a crooked British
seasonal worker, Simon loses his boundaries,
which affects the relationship with his sister.
Confronted with a truth they had both been
escaping, Simon seeks refuge up above.

Die Techniken und Methoden, die ich als Schauspielerin, Regisseurin, Set-/ Schauspielcoach und CoachAusbilderin lernen durfte, habe ich selektiert und mit
meinen eigenen Erfahrungen verknüpft. Daraus habe
ich das Andersson-System entwickelt, eine Art Werkzeugkasten für Schauspieler und Regisseure, mit dem
sie ihre Arbeit effizient leisten können. Das Paradoxon,
hohe Präzision zu erreichen bei gleichzeitiger Freiheit
und Authentizität, war mein Ziel. In diesem Workshop
möchte ich ein paar Kostproben geben, die ihr dann
gleich für euch nutzen könnt.
I selected the techniques and methods which I learned as an actress, director, coach and coach instructor
and linked them to my experiences. Thereof I developed
the Andersson-System - a sort of tool box for actors and
directors with which they can achieve their work efficiently. The paradox of accomplishing high precision while
having freedom and authenticity at the same time, was
my goal. In this workshop I will give you some sampling
demonstrations that you can deploy straight away.

Following the publication of a study that announced the
possible disappearance of a part of humanity between
here and 2100, Mélanie Laurent and Cyril Dion set out with
a team of four people to carry out an investigation in ten
countries in order to understand what could provoke this
catastrophe and, above all, how to avoid it. During their
journey, they meet pioneers who are reinventing agriculture, energy, the economy, democracy, and education.
By putting these positive and concrete initiatives together,
