Project ANSICHTSSACHE
ANSICHTSSACHE is organised by OSTPOL e.V. – which stands for “East Pole” and is located in
Leipzig, where it was established in 2008 as a non-profit association for promoting international
cultural projects. Special focus is on supporting young and upcoming talents.
ANSICHTSSACHE 2 brings together the six best short film scripts - written by students from
Deutsches Literatur Institut Leipzig (DLL) - Germany‘s only school for creative writing and - the
inspiration of young filmmakers from internationally reknowned Polish National Film, Television and
Theatre School PWSFTviT, Lodz.
In July 2009 a jury composed of film experts: Frank Albers (Robert Bosch Stiftung), Dr. Markus
Görsch (Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung), Prof. Sabine Scholl (DLL), Dr. Christian Lüffe (Goethe
Institut), Annegret Richter (Filmfest Dresden) and Dr. Cathy de Haan (DLL) nominated six screenplays from the output seminar on “Scriptwriting” in the summer term of 2009.
During an one week workshop in Lodz, students of directing and production departments of
PWSFTviT and the authors from Leipzig build six teams and worked on the scripts to get them
ready for shooting. They had to face a double challenge: to work inter-disciplinary and think crossculturally. The six short feature films will be produced in Poland from November 2009 till February
2010. The Young directors and producers will be supported by their artistic supervisors.
The finished films will be presented at various international film festivals and special events from
April 2010 on. The special showcase of all six films is scheduled during the International Filmfest
Dresden where the young filmmakers from PWSFTviT will be invited.
ANSICHTSSACHE 2 is supported by Robert Bosch Stiftung, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung,
Polish Film Institute, Sächsische Landeszentrale für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien,
Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Deutsches Literaturinstitut Leipzig, Goethe-Institut and Polnisches

The Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School
“Leon Schiller” Lodz (PWSFTviT)
The film school was founded in 1948 and is internationally renowned. It has produced famous directors like Roman Polanski or Andrzej Wajda. The film school has its own professional equipment
including cameras, studios, editing suites, sound studio, theatre etc. It has basically the set-up of
a small film studio. This means that the school provides ideal conditions in order to support the
completion of the six short films with its own resources. The film school is particularly interested in
co-operating with young talents from Middle Germany, because they are aware of the possibility of
further future projects with this region. Similar to the DLL, the PWSFTviT demands very high entry
qualifications and accepts only a maximum of 12 new students in the department of film direction.
The PWSFTviT generates two thirds of the production costs out of its own resources.

Robert Bosch Stiftung
The Robert Bosch Stiftung is one of the major German foundations associated with a company.
It is both an operative foundation that pursues its aims with the help of its own programmes and a
grant-giving foundation that enables third parties to develop and realize interesting ideas – projects
and initiatives – in order to address social issues in Germany and abroad.
There is a notion of creating a lasting impact, for instance as a platform that enables other people
to do something, and to achieve permanent change. For the foundation, it is very important to
convey knowledge and experience but also to change the attitudes and the behaviour of people.
This is why the foundation does not only award grants but also co-operates with individuals and
organisations that ensure a broader impact of its projects. The artistic director of ANSICHTSSACHE, Dr. Cathy de Haan, has been co-operating successfully with the Robert Bosch Stiftung for
several years. As a consequence, the foundation already supported the project ANSICHTSSACHE
in 2008 very generously. The foundation has a geographical focus on East-European projects and
ANSICHTSSACHE fits into this scheme with its partner countries Ukraine and Poland. What convinced the Robert Bosch Stiftung most was the promotion of the understanding of nations.
According to the foundation, ANSICHTSSACHE’s creative discussion of self-perception and the
perception of others was particularly beneficial in this aspect. In 2008, the Robert Bosch Stiftung
was the main supporter of the project.

Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM)
Since its foundation in 1998, the MDM has supported an average of 100 projects annually with
approx. 12.5 million euros per year. It focuses particularly on the areas of story development, production support, distribution and screening. The MDM is represented at most important festivals,
remains in close contact with producers and individuals or institutions that help to extend its impact
and seeks to establish international co-productions. The MDM is particularly delighted about the
fact that ANSICHTSSACHE 2 is a co-operation between Germany and its neighbouring country
Poland and might set the path for future co-productions. Besides, ANSICHTSSACHE 2 meets the
strategic goal of the MDM to “further establish training courses and further education programmes
related to practical work in the region.”

The Polish Film Institute (PISF)
The Polish Film Institute (PISF) is the most recently founded film institute in Europe. It was established in 2005 in accordance with a new cinematography law passed by the Polish Parliament.
It was set up similar to the mechanisms of support for the film industries in many other countries
in Europe.
Poland has a long tradition of quality filmmaking, marked by names such as Andrzej Wajda,
Krzysztof Zanussi, Krzysztof Kieslowski and many more. Their accomplishments set standards
of excellence that are being followed by the new generation of Polish filmmakers. The Polish Film
Institute exists to help them gain international recognition for their films, and to help Polish cinema
reclaim and maintain its traditional position in the world.
The Polish Film Institute welcomes all foreign partners - producers, distributors and filmmakers
alike – interested in all forms of collaboration with the Polish film industry.
Within the scope of the abovementioned goals, the Polish Film Institute supports the ANSICHTSSACHE project through a grant to the film academy in Lodz for the departments of production,
teaching and administration. The project combines two areas on which the Polish Film Institute
focuses: the promotion of young talents and international co-productions.

Sächsische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien
(SLM)
The SLM is one of 14 state media institutions in Germany. Its main task comprises the registration
and monitoring of private radio and TV programmes as well as media services in Saxony. The
legally required responsibilities include complementary cultural film funding. ANSICHTSSACHE
meets several of the required criteria, e.g. the promotion of young media talents in Saxony and
the setting of quality standards.

Adam Mickiewicz Institute (IAM)
The Polish equivalent to the Goethe-Institut is a state organisation that aims to promote
Polish culture all over the world and to initiate international cultural co-operations.
The IAM funds the project through a grant towards workshop management and translation
services. The IAM will support the presentation of the ANSICHTSSACHE films in Poland
through its wide-reaching network.

Goethe-Institut
The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s globally operating cultural institution.
It promotes the study of German abroad and international cultural co-operations. It also fosters
knowledge about Germany by providing information on its culture, society and politics.
The Goethe-Institut has a large network of Goethe-Instituts, Goethe Centres, cultural societies,
reading rooms and exam and language teaching centres. Together with its partners – the German
Foreign Office or the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations)
among others – the Goethe-Institut organises German film weeks or other non-profit events
abroad. Together with the Goethe-Institut, we will draw up a plan to integrate the short films in the
abovementioned network. We are also exploring the possibility of support for our public relations
work and travel grants for the German authors to attend the festival premiere in Poland in 2010.

Deutsches Literaturinstitut Leipzig (DLL)
The DLL is part of the University of Leipzig and Germany’s internationally most renowned school
for creative writing. Each year, a maximum of only 20 students is accepted. Apart from seminars
on prose, poetry and drama, there are courses on journalism, radio plays or screenplays. The
large number of successful graduates from the DLL (e.g. Saša Stanišić, winner of the Chamisso
Prize, Juli Zeh and Clemens Meyer) represents the vibrant German literature within Germany and
abroad. As the students already have previous knowledge in literature, they are able to produce
competent screenplays for short films within a short time. The DLL supports us with substantial
supplies for the two seminars accompanying ANSICHTSSACHE.

Polnisches Institut Berlin, Filiale Leipzig
The Polish Institute Leipzig has existed since the 1960s as an institution linked with the Polish
Foreign Ministry. After the collapse of Communism, its activities changed crucially. Today, the
Polish Institute focuses on the presentation and promotion of Polish culture in Germany and aims
at awakening interest not only in Polish culture but also in the country’s history, traditions and its
commitment for Europe. The events at the institute include exhibitions, presentations, concerts,
literature readings, music, theatre and visual arts. We co-operate closely with the Polish Institute
Leipzig during the research for the screenplays and will also co-operate in the presentation of the
completed short films.

Filmfest Dresden – International Short Film Festival
Focusing on short films, the festival promotes a film category which is mostly disregarded by
cinemas and television. Since its beginning in 1989, Filmfest Dresden has developed into one
of the major short film festivals in Germany. The festival’s programme reflects the manyfold
aspects of this genre and includes short animated and fiction films as well as documentary
and experimental films.
The International Short Film Festival Dresden is an important strategic partner for ANSICHTSSACHE. The prominent placing within the festival programme reaches the relevant national
and international target groups and is an efficient contribution to our public relations work.
Festival director Annegret Richter is a member of the selection jury for ANSICHTSSACHE 2.

TUTOR Cathy de Haan

RESEARCH AND LECTURES
After years as punk singer and actress de Haan studied at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet and
Hochschule fuer Film und Fernsehen in Munich and finished with a Ph.D. in Film Communications.
In 1995 she started on a current basis as lecturer for film aesthetics, dramaturgy and film history at
the University of Leipzig. Her lectures include topics from “Black is Beautiful - Film Noir and NeoNoir” up to gender studies “Women in Hollywood Films of the 90s” to German Classics as “Rainer
Werner Fassbinder”. In 2008 de Haan became lecturer for scriptwriting at Deutsches Literaturinstitut Leipzig – Germany’s unique school for creative writing. In her research works she explores
myths and fairytales and their relevance for film narration: Myths and fairytals as the very beginning of storytelling are not only a ressource for inspiration - their narrative patterns and archetypes
provide a reservoir for the author.
DRAMATURGY AND MEDIA MANAGEMENT
After finishing her studies de Haan went to the USA where she held numerous assignments as
script editor and production assistant. She created with partner Bavaria Film Studios a private TV
station for HypoVereinsbank and headed as Deputy Director world sales activities at ARD subsidiary Telepool including acquisition, development and sales of films for the international market.
This got her involved in national arthouse productions as well as international blockbusters. In
2004 she set up her own label “Wilde Sterne” and started working as script consultant for national
and international film productions. Her clients include distributors as well as production companies
and World sales outfits.
INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
De Haan – a member of the European Film Academy – is a sought of expert for jurys and international events for up-coming film makers as Berlinale Talent Campus (director 2005 – 2006)
and Young Professional Programms of the goEast Filmfestival (member of pre-selection jury). As
festival curator she has been partner for Goethe Institut in Taschkent, Kaliningrad, Budapest, Barcelona and Kiew. For the MEDIA Programme she created and moderated in 2007 the first student
forum during the German-Polish co-production conference.
In 2008 she was elected CEO of non-profit organisation OSTPOL – a platform for international
cultural projects and is responsible for the intercultural short film programme ANSICHTSSACHE.

TUTOR Wojciech Marczewski
Film director, screenwriter
Born in Lodz in 28.02.1944. Studied history and philosophy at Lodz University and graduated as film
director from the Theatre and Film School in Lodz. He participated as a screenwriter and director
in many film and television projects. From 1972 to 1994 he was a member of Film Studio TOR and
from 1986 to 1990 - Head-Deputy of TOR. From 1980 to 1983 he was the Head-Deputy of Polish
Filmmakers‘ Association and from 1984 to 1986 Head of Polish Cine Club Federation. During Marshall War he began to teach in West Germany and Denmark. Since 1984 he has worked for the National Film and Television School in Copenhagen, Denmark. Between 1992 and 1994 he was Head
of Directing Department in the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, Great Britain.
He has conducted many workshops for film directors, screenwriters and actors in Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Denmark and Poland. Since 1996 he has tought at the National Film School in Lodz
and at the University in Katowice. His films were distributed in numerous countries, have taken part
and were awarded in many international film festivals. The retrospectives of his films took place in:
Bergamo, Copenhagen, Prague, Budapest and Hamburg. He has also directed several TV dramas.

TUTOR Andrzej Bednarek
Professor, Vice-Rector (deputy head) Head of International Relations at the Polish National Film,
Television and Theatre School (PWSFTviT) Lodz, Poland.
Born 1942. 1969-1974 - Studied Film Direction at the Film School in Lodz and directed three
student films. After graduation went on to work in feature film, documentary film studio and public
Polish television. Directed 23 documentary films and 5 theatre plays for television.
Since 1974 - teaching Film Direction and dramaturgy at the Directing Department and the Producing Department at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School Lodz. For the past
fourteen years Vice-Rector, in charge of international relations.

COORDINATION MANAGMENT
Vera Schmidt
Vera Schmidt learned the profession of publishing in an apprenticeship
at a publishing house in Munich. At Leipzig University she studied
Science of Communication and Media Studies, next to Psychology,
English Literature and History. She has been working as First Assistant Director for various film and TV production companies since 1997.
In addition, she works on a freelance basis for cultural institutions, for
example as a seminar tutor of international workshops focussing on
film and TV, initiated by the Goethe Institute. Moreover, she is also
active in the field of coordination management, among other activities.
Since last summer she has operated as Head of Organisation of the
international short film project ANSICHTSSACHE in 2008 as well as
for this year’s follow-up project ANSICHTSSACHE 2.
Marcin Malatyński
Born in 1976. Marcin Malatynski graduated from the Academy of Economics in Poznan and from the Production Department of the Polish
National Film School in Lodz. Film production manager. Since 2003
he has been working as an Assistant at the Directing Dep. and from
2005 to 2008 was a Dean of the Directing Dep. in charge of Film Production. Since october 2008 he is a Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Marketing, Promotion and Distribution. For 6 years he has been Director
of The Student Film Festival ‘Lodzia po Wisle’. He is also Production

DIE GESCHICHTEN DES TAGES

Polen ist ein bisschen wie zu Hause, wie das gemütlichere Russland.
1. Kutno
Bahnhof war klein und unscheinbar, aber es gab einen großen weißen Bus, der uns nach Lodz
bringen sollten. Wir freuten uns und freuten uns noch immer als der Bus zehn Minuten später gegenüber einer pittoresken Kirche und mitten auf der Hauptverkehrsstraße Kutnos liegen blieb.
2. Vor der Kirche
Der Busfahrer öffnete jede einzelne Klappe und schtieß diese laut fluchend zu. Die Dorfbewohner,
die in ihren Sonntagskleidern an uns vorbeimarschierten, musterten uns neugierig. Der Busfahrer
fluchte lauter und sagte, dass es wohl noch mindestens eine Stunde dauern würde, bis ein anderer
Bus käme. Wir boten ihm an, den Bus von der Straße zu schieben, doch er winkte ab, „Mädchen,
das ist ein Bus, kein Kinderwagen.“ Sagte er noch.
3. Die Tankstelle
Wir beschlossen die örtliche Trinkhalle am Bahnhof aufzusuchen. Natürlich fanden wir den Bahnhof nicht, aber dafür eine Tankstelle.
Wir waren uns nicht sicher, ob die Tankstelle geöffnet, denn diese sah recht verlassen aus, doch
nach einer Weile sahen wir Bewegung drinnen. Als wir zaghaft die Tür öffneten, wehte uns schon
ein Schwall aus Zigarettenrauch und alkoholischen Ausdüstungen entgegen. Sieben Augenpaare
beobachteten uns, fünf waren um einen Glücksspielautomaten versammelt und zwei hinter der
Kasse. Der Kassierer konnte sich leider nicht mehr artikulieren, aber hieß uns lallend willkommen,
ein anderer wollte uns erst nicht reinlassen, weil wir ihm Angst einjagten, doch als er erfuhr, dass
wir eine Gruppe Studenten aus Deutschland seien, brach er in Lachen aus und ließ uns rein.
Indessen deckten wir uns mit Bierflaschen, Wodka und Chips ein, der Kassierer war nicht mehr in
der Lage die Preise zusammenzurechnen, weshalb Judith pauschal das dreifache Zahlen musste,
aber das ist uns leider erst später aufgefallen.

4. Im Bus
Als wir in unserem Bus alle Chipstüten, Schokoriegel, Bierflaschen und den Wodka gelehrt haben,
war der Gottesdienst bereits zu Ende. Die Kirchgänger hatte jedoch mittlerweile sämtliches Interesse an uns verloren. Wir gehörten dazu.
Plötzlich tauchte hinter uns ein anderer Bus auf, er hatte riesige Scheinwerfer und fuhr leichte Kurven, doch unser Busfahrer freute sich riesig und winkte seinem Kollegen zu. Der andere Busfahrer
sprang schwankend aus dem Bus aus, und schmiss unser Gepäck in seinen Bus. Dann zündete er
sich eine Zigarette an und beschloss den Bus mit unserer Hilfe zu der Kirche zu schieben. Der Bus
ließ sich sehr leicht schieben, wie Butter, der Busfahrer nahm nicht mal seine Zigarette aus dem
Mundwinkel. Der Vollmond war schön.

Lodz –
am Montagmorgen kennen wir dich noch nicht. Was wissen wir? Allein an gestern erinnern wir
uns, an die feiernden Männer im geschlossenen Tankstellenladen, an den einen, der, sobald er
uns sah, in ein solches Lachen ausbrach, als wären wir eine Pointe, worauf wir lachten, als wäre
er eine Pointe (worauf wir wirklich alle zu einer Pointe wurden), und an den anderen, der mit beiläufigen Schritten hinter die Ladentheke wankte, die Stirn in Falten legte, den Kopf zur Seite kippte
und unsere Chips und Schokoladenwaffeln und die Bierflaschen mit seinen Fingern abzuzählen
versuchte, den Kopf schüttelte, auf einen Preisvorschlag wartete, den er dankend und verwirrt annahm. Unsere Ankunft feierten wir gestern mit polnischem Radio im kalten Bus, der mitten auf der
Strasse geheimnisvoll beschlossen hatte, stehen zu bleiben.
Aber heute, heute ist doch Montag, und wir wissen noch nichts, noch nicht einmal wissen wir von
der Tierhandlung mit den zwei grossen Mäusen im Schaufenster, an denen wir von nun an täglich
vorbeigehen werden.
Ich sehe auf dem Weg zur Filmhochschule zwei Mäuse, die mich aus ihrem Schaufenster heraus zwar anschauen, aber nicht beachten. Ich aber denke an sie.
Die eine Maus steigt auf die andere Maus und bewegt
sich nicht, und das hat, sage ich mir, mit Lodz nichts
zu tun. Und dann merke ich, dass es mit Lodz doch etwas zu tun hat, weil alles, was ich jetzt sehe, mit Lodz
viel zu tun hat, alles, was ich jetzt sehe, hat alles mit
Lodz alles zu tun, darum hat auch die Bäckerei neben
dem dunklen Mäusegeschäft, aus der es nach süssen Hefebroten duftet, mit Lodz etwas zu tun, und die
Presslufthammer, die zum Verkauf auf der Strasse stehen und der kleiner Laden ein paar Meter weiter, in den man nur hereinschauen kann, wenn man
zwischen sich und dem Schaufenster keinen Abstand mehr lässt, und dann die dunklen Bilderrahmen sieht in jeder Grösse und Breite. Während links von uns Autos in kurzen Abständen auf eine
vierspurige Strasse vorbeifahren an vielstöckigen Einkaufszentren, sind rechts auf der Kreuzung
gelbe Erdhügel und Kabel und frei gelegte Schienen und bald die Strasse, in die wir ab jetzt immer
rechts einbiegen, wenn wir zur Filmhochschule wollen.
Da ist also Herr Glinski und er begrüsst uns und führt uns in einen grünen, prächtigen Raum und
sagt, here it is not bad, please, sit down. Er sagt langsam und vorsichtig, als wir alle auf den grünen, mächtigen Polsterstühlen Platz genommen haben: „was eure Drehbücher betrifft...es ist mir
nicht ganz klar: warum. Warum? das wichtigste ist immer die Frage: warum! Nicht das: how! Nicht
das: what! Sondern das: why! Warum! Warum! Warum!“
Wir treffen auf die polnischen Regisseure und wissen nicht so recht, was sagen, und begeben uns
auf einen Spaziergang durch die Schule und laufen in ein paar Schauspieler hinein, die gerade
aus der Turnhalle herauskommen und sich im Gang umziehen. Wir werden in einen dunklen Saal
geführt, in dem ein junger Mann allein auf der Bühne steht und mit einer rauen Stimme ein Lied
in den leeren Raum hineinsingt. Auch später höre ich immer jemanden singen oder summen, singend die Treppenstufen heraufkommen oder summend um die Ecke biegen - und da sind die berühmten Treppenstufen, wie wir hören, auf denen einst Roman Polanski sass und Andrzey Wajda
und Krzystof Kieslowski und Bier tranken. Auch ein altes hölzernes, dunkles Filmstudio sehen wir
mit einer riesigen Zeichnung von Lodz. Schweigend gehen wir nebeneinander her.
Wir sitzen uns gegenüber, die polnischen Masterstudenten, die deutschen Drehbuchschreiber. Wir
fassen unsere Drehbücher auf Englisch zusammen. Bis klar wird, wer mit wem arbeitet, wird viel
und langsam Kaffee getrunken - die Kekse in Blumenform, das Verbrennen der Zunge am heissen
Wasser, das Warten in der Cafeteria auf mögliche Gespräche, das einander Zulächeln, Baguette
mit Pilzen, Käse und Ketchup, Pfannkuchen mit Quark, Erbsensalat mit Mayonnaise, Kartoffeln mit
Dill, Krautsalat, vereinzelte Gespräche. Die anderen und wir.
Das grosse Begrüssungsbuffet am Nachmittag für alle Neuanfänger eines Studiums an der Filmhochschule. Der Raum ist voll, eine fünfstöckige weisse Torte steht in einer Ecke und alle tragen
Gläser mit Saft und Wein, es ist vier Uhr und schwül und draussen sehr kalt.
Am Abend treffen wir uns alle in der Altstadt im „Sofa“ um auf unsere künftige Zusammenarbeit,
zum Beispiel mit Wein, anzustossen. Und da wir uns heute schon so oft begegnet sind, kommen
wir uns ein bisschen bekannt vor. Die Gespräche werden einfacher und der Wein fliesst. Aber
Lodz, noch immer wissen wir nicht viel!

Alle Duschen gleichen einander, alle Badewannen sind auf ihre Art besonders. Und da ich, seit ich
vor zwölf Jahren von zu Hause ausgezogen bin, keine mehr hatte, verbringe ich den Morgen in der
Wanne.
9.30 Uhr
Besuch von Robert Glinski, der seine Meinung über unsere Drehbücher äußert. Allerdings werde
ich das Gefühl nicht los, alles, bis in einzelne Formulierungen, bereits am Vortag gehört zu haben;
und wie sich an den weiteren Tagen zeigen wird, auch nicht zum letzten Mal.
19.00 Uhr
Über die berühmt-berüchtigten Stufen geht es in den Vorführraum der Schule, wo uns die Regiestudenten eigene Filme zeigen. Skurrile, alltägliche Geschichten, handwerklich perfekt.
Mir kommt der Name Kieslowski wieder in den Sinn, ebenfalls nicht zum ersten Mal an diesem
Tag. Aber als ich den Film meines Regisseurs sehe, verschwinden all meine Bedenken und ich
weiß, dass mein Drehbuch in guten Händen ist.
23.15 Uhr
Wieder in der Badewanne. Vor lauter Begeisterung habe ich die ganze Woche über vergessen, ein
Foto von ihr zu machen. Sie existiert nur in meiner Vorstellung und ich bin gespannt, welchen Weg
mein Drehbuch auf die Leinwand finden wird und frage mich, wie weit sich die filmische Realität
mit meiner Vorstellung decken wird.

7 Uhr
Ich erwache in Lodz, zum vierten Mal, zum ersten Mal synchron mit dem Wecker. Ich erwache in
Lodz, frei und friedlich, und keine Unruhe mehr, weil Bartosz Warwas noch von etwas überzeugt
werden müsste. Ich erwache entspannt und in dem Wissen, dass jeder Posten durchgestrichen
ist auf meiner Liste, an der ich sonst bereits erwachend schrieb: Worin Bartosz Warwas um jeden
Preis umzustimmen ist.
Bartosz Warwas, das ist mein Regisseur. Das ist der beste Mann für mein Drehbuch, er fürchtet
nichts, nicht einmal Katzen am Set. Bereits sein Name klingt für mich nach Heldentum. Und seine
Stärke liegt im Lösen von Problemen. Das sagt er mir selbst, kurz bevor ich wieder fahre. Kurz bevor es an ihm ist, etwas zu machen aus diesem Film. Und an mir, ihm zu vertrauen.
Doch erst ist es Donnerstag und bis zur Abfahrt noch etwas Zeit. Bartosz Warwas und ich sind uns
einig. Er wird keinen Psychothriller drehen aus meinem Buch, das ich bisher für eine schwarze
Komödie hielt. Er wird keinen Macho machen aus meinem Hauptdarsteller, und aus dessen Tod
am Schluss kein Happy End. Mit dieser Ahnung von Einklang wache ich auf. Es ist der vierte Tag
in Lodz, mein Hals ist wund vom Umstimmen des Bartosz Warwas. Nun gibt es ein Treatment und
darin ein paar Ideen, für die er hochleben soll, dreimal hoch!
9 Uhr
Wir sitzen im Plenum, und Cathy de Haan stärkt uns den Rücken. Es sind die Autoren, denen sie
das letzte Wort zuspricht, in Sachen Drehbuch und was finale Änderungen betrifft. Ich rutsche hin
und her auf meinem Stuhl. Wo bitte ist Bartosz? Und hätte er das nicht auch hören sollen?
11 Uhr
Wojciech Marczewski bespricht unsere Scripts. So freundlich und vorsichtig, als wäre seine Meinung kaum etwas wert. Auch Bartosz ist nun da, und auch er hängt an seinen Lippen. Wojciech
Marczewski rät uns, die Perspektive zu wechseln. Das leuchtet uns ein, sofort, eine Erleuchtung,
nennt es Bartosz Warwas.
13 Uhr
Ich bin auf dem Weg zu Bartosz, die Piotrkowska hinunter. In einem Abschnitt ist der Asphalt mit
Sternen der Stars geschmückt. Weiter oben der Name unserer Produzentin, Magda, die gerade im
Seminar sitzt, Magda, die gerne öfter bei unseren Treffen dabei gewesen wäre. Bartosz Wohnung
liegt an einem Ende der Piotrkowska, unser Hotel am anderen Ende. Europas längster Boulevard,
ich passiere Bars, Clubs und Restaurants, Europas höchste Dichte an Bars, Clubs und Restaurants, Abends gehen wir hier essen, tagsüber lege ich Kilometer zurück, um zu Bartosz’ Wohnung
zukommen. Dort hat er gekocht: Schlesische Knödel mit Spinat. Zum Essen hören wir Filmmusik:
Horror-Classics, um den Tisch schleichen Bartosz’ drei Katzen.
16 Uhr
Wir schreiben das Treatment um. Die Perspektive wechseln – das hat auch Bartosz mir schon
einmal vorgeschlagen. Da habe ich abgelehnt, vielleicht nur aus Bequemlichkeit, vielleicht aus
Angst vor dem Umfang der Veränderung. Doch inzwischen hat sich auch bei mir etwas verändert.
Endlich geht es darum, ein besseres Drehbuch zu schreiben. Mein Hals ist wund, und es ist längst
noch nicht alles gesagt. Bartosz kocht einen Tee mit Himbeersaft, das soll helfen. Für seine drei
Katzen dreht er den Wasserhahn auf. Auch sie sollen trinken.
19 Uhr
Ich laufe zurück, Piotrkowska. Im Gepäck grobe Sätze für ein neues Treatment. Bartosz begleitet
mich ein Stück. Es ist kalt, es regnet, und wir sind zufrieden.

Wanne. Ich will nicht mehr raus, nur noch baden und dann ins Bett, das neue Treatment schreiben.

Es gibt einen kleinen, grauen Hasen, der zwischen den Autos
über die Straße hoppelt. Es gibt eine Straße, die nicht befahren
wird, weil alle sie befahren wollen. Der Hase kommt heil auf der
anderen Seite an. Es gibt einen leeren Vormittag. Wir schlafen,
essen, verlaufen uns im Shoppingcenter. Am leeren Vormittag
bleibt das Frühstücksbuffet eine Stunde länger.
Es gibt kurz vor dem Mittagessen nichts mehr zu sagen, zwischen meinem Regisseur und mir. Alles in trockenen Tüchern.
Wir trinken einen Karottensaft.
Es gibt ein kleines Mittagessen, und dann noch eins – ich kann
es mir leisten. Es gibt einen freien Tisch in der Ecke. Wir reden
über die Vorteile des Geschichtenschreibens und über Kanada.
In der letzten Gesprächsrunde müssen wir unsere neuen Drehbücher verteidigen. Ich muss immer wieder den Kopf einziehen,
weil ich vor der Tafel mit den Terminen sitze. Cathy zeigt auf
mich und ich denke ich werde angesprochen, aber dann sind
es doch nur die Termine. Ich ziehe immer wieder den Kopf ein.
Mein Regisseur und ich sind von unserem Drehbuch überzeugt.
Wir haben eine politische Botschaft! Der Professor sagt: I don’t
believe in hope.
Das Kaninchen habe ich aus den Augen verloren. Es sitzt auf
der anderen Straßenseite und blickt stolz zurück: sechs Fahrstreifen hat es unbeschadet überquert. Die Autofahrer hupen
und ein dicker Mann droht dem Kaninchen mit der Faust. Das
Kaninchen beschließt, auf dem Rückweg durch eine Unterführung zu hoppeln.
Nach der letzten Besprechung trinke ich einen letzten Karottensaft. Ich will in mein Hotelzimmer zurückkehren, aber auf
dem Weg dahin entdecke ich eine Bar, in der ich zusammen
mit einigen Produzentinnen, Olga, Cathy und Vera einkehre. Es
gibt Bier mit Sirup (so etwas habe ich in meinem ganzen Leben
noch nicht getrunken).
Am Abend werden wir auf einen Empfang gehen, da kommt
auch eine berühmte polnische Künstlerin, die ich nicht kenne.
Sie ist dafür bekannt, sich auf großen öffentlichen Veranstaltungen nackt auszuziehen und Styroporpenisse vor sich herzutragen. Aber vielleicht stimmt das auch gar nicht und mein
Regisseur hat mich angeflunkert. Dann kommt die Künstlerin
tatsächlich, aber sie macht nichts Besonderes.
Es gibt drei Gänge und ich bin – es tut mir leid das zu sagen,
weil es immer so ist – von der Besteckanordnung neben den
Tellern überfordert. Vegetarierinnen und Vegetarier bekommen
ihr Essen immer als erste. Aus Höflichkeit warten wir so lange,
bis die anderen auch alle etwas haben. Ich wollte eigentlich keinen Wodka trinken, aber dann trinke ich doch welchen.

Six German-Polish films recount stories with poetry and passion
An accident that is not so... a young woman at a crossroads... a mysterious journey through time... yearning for a
lost daughter... a killer commando in an old folks‘ home... a calamitous cat paradise.
Six exciting short films provide an insight into the current film scene in both countries by involving some of the
most promising creative talent of both countries. The screenplays – written by up-and-coming writers at the German Creative Writing Program Leipzig (Deutsches Literaturinstitut Leipzig/ DLL) and filmed by Polish masterclass
students at the Leon Schiller‘s National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Lódz (Pa�stwowa
Wy�sza Szko�a Filmowa, Telewizyjna i Teatralna im. Leona Schillera w �odzi PWSFTiTv) – are a direct expression of creatively dealing with the perspectives of the others involved by working together on the screenplays.
Under the supervision of artistic directors Cathy de Haan (DLL) and Robert Glinski (President PWSFTiTv), the
shooting scripts were prepared by the students from both countries during a workshop held in October 2009 in
Lódz and subsequently shot in Poland.
The premiere will be celebrated on Monday, 19. April 2010, 8 p.m. at the Passage Cinemas Leipzig.
The films will also be shown at the International Short Film Festival in Dresden. The special programmes
are on Wednesday, 21. April 2010, 5 p.m. and Saturday, 24. April 2010, 6 p.m. (both Thalia Cinema, Dresden). Further entries at several international film festivals are running.
ANSICHTSSACHE 2/ MATTER OF OPINION 2 is the second edition of a remarkable experiment by the Leipzig
association, OSTPOL. The aim of this educative project is to improve international understanding as well as to
open up professional perspectives for future international coproductions with Germany.
ANSICHTSSACHE 3/ MATTER OF OPINION 3 will likely be realised in 2010 with Turkey.

Sechs deutsch-polnische Filme erzählen mit Poesie und Leidenschaft Geschichten, die im
Nachbarland spielen
Ein Unfall, der keiner ist... eine junge Frau am Scheideweg... eine mysteriöse Zeitreise.....die Sehnsucht nach der verlorenen Tochter... ein Killerkommando im Altersheim... ein verhängnisvolles Katzenparadies
Die sechs wunderbaren Geschichten – von Nachwuchsautoren des Deutschen Literaturinstituts Leipzig geschrieben, verfilmt von polnischen Filmstudenten der Nationalen Filmschule in Lodz (PWSFTiTv) – lassen uns teilhaben
an den Auseinandersetzungen der jungen Generation mit ihren Ängsten und Hoffnungen. Entstanden in einem
gemeinsamen kreativen Prozess stehen sie stellvertretend für den Umgang mit der Kultur und Sichtweisen des
jeweils Anderen.
Die Premiere wird am Montag, 19. April 2010 ab 20 Uhr in den Passage Kinos in Leipzig groß gefeiert.
Anschließend laufen die Filme am Mittwoch, 21. April 2010, 17 Uhr und Samstag, 24. April 2010, 18 Uhr
(beides Thalia Kino, Dresden) im Sonderprogramm „Atelier 1“ auf dem Filmfest Dresden. Die Einreichungen zu internationalen Festivals sind im Laufen.
ANSICHTSSACHE 2 ist die zweite Auflage eines außergewöhnlichen Experiments des Leipziger Vereins
OSTPOL und ermöglichte Studenten aus Polen und Deutschland die gemeinsame Arbeit an sechs Kurzfilmen.
Hierbei standen nicht nur professionelle Perspektiven für zukünftige deutsch–polnische Filmproduktionen im
Vordergrund, sondern die Völkerverständigung in der Praxis. 2010 wird das Projekt mit der Türkei fortgeführt.
Die teilnehmenden Studenten des Deutschen Literaturinstituts Leipzig, haben mit ihren Drehbüchern einen Wettbewerb im Vorfeld in Leipzig gewonnen. Die 12 Studenten der PWSFTiTv sind Mitglieder der im letzten Herbst
begonnenen Masterstudiengänge. Anfang Oktober 2009 wurde an der Filmhochschule PWSFTiTv in Lodz der
gemeinsame Workshop des Projektes ANSICHTSSACHE durchgeführt, wobei jeweils ein Student der Film und
Fernsehregie- und sowie der Produktionsfakultät mit den Autoren in Teams zusammenarbeiteten. Ergebnis sind
sechs spannende und frische Kurzfilme, die einen Einblick in die aktuelle Filmszene beider Länder geben.

ANSICHTSSACHE 2009 – Startschuss für die Dreharbeiten
Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss des deutsch-polnischen Filmworkshops können die Dreharbeiten beginnen: Vom 4. bis 11. Oktober 2009 fand in Lodz der Workshop des Projektes ANSICHTSSACHE 2009 statt. In dieser Zeit arbeiteten deutsche Drehbuchautoren –
Studenten des Deutschen Literaturinstituts Leipzig mit den Studenten der Staatliche
Hochschule für Film, Fernsehen und Theater „Leon Schiller“ (Pa�stwowa Wy�sza Szko�a
Filmowa, Telewizyjna i Teatralna im. Leona Schillera w �odzi – PWSFTiTv) in Lodz an
gemeinsamen Kurzfilmprojekten.
Das Prinzip ist ebenso einfach, wie spannend: Die sechs Nachwuchsautoren aus Deutschland hatten
ihre Drehbücher im Gepäck. Nach der Ankunft in Lodz wurden die Skripte vorgestellt und es bildeten sich schnell sechs Teams, bestehend aus deutschem Autor, polnischen Regisseur und polnischen Produzent, die gemeinsam die Drehbücher weiterentwickelten. Der Workshop fand unter der
künstlerischen Leitung von Robert Glinski (Direktor der Filmhochschule in Lodz) und Cathy de Haan
(Deutsches Literatur Institut Leipzig) statt. Im Lauf der Workshopwoche hatten die Studenten die
Chance, ihre Drehbücher und Ideen mit weiteren Profis zu diskutieren: Regisseur und Autor Wojciech Marczewskis, Autor und Dramaturg Wojciech Lepiankas und Regisseur und Produzent Andrzej
Bednarek.
„Im gemeinsamen kreativen Prozess konnten die Studenten lernen, wie sie mit Kritik und Ideen der
Teilnehmer aus dem Partnerland umgehen: Autoren arbeiteten zum ersten Mal mit Filmregisseuren, Filmregisseure zum ersten Mal mit den Drehbüchern von anderen. Der interkulturelle Kontext
ist dabei nicht nur eine Bereicherung für beide Seiten, er schafft den Spielraum für spannende neue
Ansätze für Kurzfilme“, freut sich Cathy de Haan.
Neben der intensiven Arbeit an den Drehbüchern, hatten die Teilnehmer wiederholt Gelegenheiten
zum gegenseitigen Kennenlernen. So hatten die polnischen Studenten für ihre deutschen Gäste
eine filmische Stadtführung zu Drehorten von Wajda, Lynch etc. in Lodz vorbereitet, die eine zusätzliche Inspiration für die Drehortwahl war. Höhepunkt der Workshop-Woche war das finale Präsentieren der gemeinsamen Projekte und die anschließende Abschiedsfeier mit allen Beteiligten.
Ehrengast war dabei die Künstlerin Katarzyna Kozena, die aus Warschau angereist war, um das
Projekt und seine Mitwirkenden persönlich kennenzulernen.

Aus den im Workshop überarbeiteten Drehbüchern werden von Dezember 2009 bis Januar 2010 in
Polen sechs Kurzfilme gedreht. Die Filme werden ab Februar 2010 auf nationalen und internationalen Festivals gezeigt und als Sonderprogramm im April 2010 auf dem Internationalen Kurzfilmfestival Dresden aufgeführt.
