Chamber looking for new leaders Member News
New year of Leadership Somerset County begins in September
Recruitment is underway for
the 2015-2016 class of Leadership
Somerset County.
This unique, 10-month program is
designed to nurture new
community and business
leaders by providing
an overview of specific
areas of the region
and to prepare them to
face future challenges,
thereby
ensuring
Somerset County is led
by able, resourceful
individuals.
The class begins with an overnight
retreat at Indian Lake Resort in
September. This two-day, teambuilding and networking session allows
participants to meet and bond with their
fellow classmates and is facilitated by
professors from Allegany College of
Maryland. Their enthusiastic approach
sets the tone for the remainder of the
program.
Other sessions are typically held on
the third Wednesday of each month
and focus on a variety of topics,
including: community and economic
development,
local
government,
the
judicial
system,
business
development, healthcare, education,
energy and natural resources, nonprofit organizations and our heritage
and quality of life.
Each session features
qualified panelists who
share their expertise
in these chosen areas
and give complete
overviews of the issues
they face.
Class participants also
take part in communityoriented group projects before the
course culminates in a graduation
ceremony in June.
