An all American holiday
Thanksgiving
In 1620 the Mayflower landed on the east coast of North America. On board
of the ship were about 100 English people. They wanted to start a new life
in the ”New World” and practice their religion. The first winter was very hard
for these Pilgrims. Their neighbors, the Wampanoag – a Native American
tribe, taught them how to grow corn.
So the next year in the fall the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag
celebrated the good harvest. There was a big feast with lots of
food. The Pilgrims gave thanks for the food,
od, tthe friendship and
for peace.
Unfortunately the peace didn’t last long

Redewendungen an.
