Over thirty years experience in conceptual and applied medical illustration. Thirty years clinical experience in facial
epithetics and somatic prosthetics for cancer, trauma and congenital malformation patients. Successfully combines
knowledge of surgery and anatomy with art to educate physicians, surgeons, patients and healthcare providers.
Experienced in design and fabrication of externally worn facial epitheses and partial hand/finger prostheses.
Acquired additional specialization in the fabrication and fitting of bone-anchored craniofacial epitheses. Taught
graphic designers, dental technicians and medical artists in private and medical university settings. Skills include
creation, organization and coordination of illustrations for textbook production; writing and presentation of technical
papers at international medical conferences; coordinating clinical care and prosthetic treatment planning for patients.
Built successful business supplying medical illustrations and models and craniofacial prostheses in Europe and the
United States. Recognized for ability to communicate with patients in stressful and difficult circumstances.
Excellent speaking and public relations skills. Working knowledge of German.
PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS: PAST AND PRESENT
•
Established and managed Graphica Medica, a studio/practice for medical illustrations, models and facial
prosthetics. Built successful practice in Germany, serving clients/patients in Germany and Europe. Sold
practice in Germany and reestablished Prosthetics at GM, LLC in USA.
•
Served as consultant in medical illustration and craniofacial epitheses to Head and Neck, Plastic, Oncology,
Burns/Trauma, Orthopedic, Neurosurgical, Oral and Maxillofacial departments of European hospitals.
•
Produced illustrations and coordinated design and production of illustrations for publishers of multiauthored surgical textbooks in both German and English languages.
•
Pioneered use of American made silicone materials, adhesives, and coloration systems for prosthetic use in
Germany.
•
As President (1995-96) brought about a collaboration between the American Anaplastology Association
and German counterpart (Gesellschaft für chirurgische Prothetik und Epithetik) group to co-sponsor an
international professional conference and journal. Held various Board and committee positions within
AAA.
•
Facilitated patient groups in hospital seminars to discuss their disability and the different types of medical
aids prescribed to help the transition from hospital to home.

Taught dental technicians in laboratory and educational settings, the fabrication and fitting of facial epitheses.
•
Participated as designer and consultant on European team marketing surgical laproscopic simulators.
•
Participates as designer and consultant on training models and 3-D projects for the Mayo Clinic.
•
Participated as medical illustrator on team producing 1st & 2nd Editions of Neurosurgical Atlas-Mayo Clinic.

Participated as consultant and director of the Facial Prosthetics/Anaplastology Dept at the Huntsman Cancer
Institute, Salt Lake City, UT • Developed training program for an on-site anaplastology technician;
responsible for oversight of prosthetics services including on and off site telephone and email consultation;
teamed with architect & engineers on lighting/layout of new prosthetics office and lab; procured equipment,
and materials.
