Dose gefunden. Besonders ist allerdings nur der geforderte Preis US $ 599,99. Ob der Verkäufer die Auktion
selbst beendetet hat, weil sich kein Käufer meldete, ist
unbekannt.

purchased many moons ago at a live estate auction and
I got it at a nice price, since it had a chip on the bottom
left side, shown in the last picture is the chip, about 1/2"
cut. I have not had an issue with it, looks gorgeous in
the curio [als Rarität], just need to downsize. Take note
of the bronze ball clasps, they close and open nicely.
The pattern is buttons and bows and there is a brilliant
cut starburst in the bottom.

Hello Siegmar, The latest PK 2005-2 arrived today and I
am thoroughly enjoying it as always.
The uranium glass „Fußschale mit Griffen und Deckel“ on page 298 was manufactured by the Belmont
Glass Works of Bellaire, Ohio circa 1885. This is their
Pattern No. 100. Collectors call it Belmont or Belmont’s Daisy and Button. I believe that the piece
shown is the Comport covered dish [Kompottschale].
In der Mitte des Bodens ist eine eingepresste Marke
„B“ erkennbar. Es ist ganz sicher, dass es sich nicht um
eine Marke von Baccarat, Frankreich, um 1900, handelt. Das Pseudo-Schliffmuster mit 8-eckigen und 4eckigen Diamanten war eine einfache Variante eines um
1900 in den USA vor allem bei Uranglas / Vaseline
Glass sehr weit verbreiteten Musters und wurde dort
„Daisy and Buttons“ genannt. (Siehe dazu PK 2000-2,
S. 123, „Daisy and Button“ forever and every where!)
Es handelt sich also wahrscheinlich um die Marke eines
US-Glaswerks. Die Montierung und der einfache Verschluss könnte von einem Fabrikanten aus der Region
um Gablonz, Böhmen, um 1900, stammen, aber auch
von einem US-Fabrikanten.
Der Anbieter haut wirklich stark aufs Blech! Bei der
Montierung handelt es sich nicht um Bronze, sondern
um ein sehr dünnes Messingblech, das mit Gips oder
ähnlichem Material auf das Glas geklebt wurde.

PK 2008-1, Lethbridge:
Siegmar I don’t think so. To my knowledge, Belmont didn’t
mark any of their glass. The practice of glass factories
marking their product didn’t occur until well after Belmont closed in 1892. The pattern on this box is similar
to the 810 aka Tudor pattern made by Central Glass
Co. of Wheeling, West Virginia, USA, circa 1887; the
Diamond pattern made by the Nova Scotia Glass Co. of
New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada, circa 1880s, but
I doubt that either of them made this. It is also similar to
the 204 aka Hobnail pattern by George Davidson &
Co. of Gateshead on Tyne, England. I believe that
some of that line can be found with metal fittings - but
the “B” is not a mark that I would associate with
Davidson.
