Dear Friends,
Another year passes by, and the children of Mount Kisco Child Care Center continue to receive the highest quality early care and education through our stimulating and
creative curriculum. Our outstanding teachers, under the direction of Dawn Meyerski„s
skilled leadership, helps put MKCCC a cut above the rest. The Center could not run
smoothly without the support of a very dedicated and committed administrative staff.
We also recognize our amazing kitchen staff that live and breathe our mission of sustainable food service and programming.
Reflecting back on 2010, MKCCC is so fortunate to be the beneficiary of a very
philanthropic community. Likely to be remembered as “The Year of the Donor,” the year
began with a very comprehensive fundraising plan.
We started the year by developing an outstanding award winning DVD called
Amelia that depicted the life of a child and her family as they struggle to make ends meet
and the importance that MKCCC played in their lives. We mailed the DVD to both new
and old friends. We also held our first phonathon, with great success.
In June, we honored an important friend and former board member, Jane H.
Beusman, with the Children‟s Fund Celebration at the Saw Mill Club. Jane was a strong
supporter and advocate for children and believed strongly in providing financial support
to working families in need of assistance. Through the Children‟s Fund, MKCCC is now
able to set aside money through its fundraising efforts to build this initiative and help
sustain the Center and its programs for years to come.
The Feed Me Fresh Gala event in September brought more people than ever and
raised much needed money for our scholarship fund. We owe its success to the Feed Me
Fresh committee, led by co-chiars Lauren Schwarzfeld and Lauren Wysmuller, two working MKCCC parents. This year‟s honorees included Cynthia and Patrick Brennan, Mimi
Edelman and Pam Moskowitz.
In October, I was honored for my 25 years of dedicated service to MKCCC. With
a special gathering of close friends and former board members, it is with sincere gratitude that I thank all for being so generous. After all this time, I still find joy and meaning in the work and mission of MKCCC.
We remain ever grateful to the many foundations and individuals who continue
to support our Scholarship Fund, our JEWEL Intergenerational Program and our Feed Me
Fresh Garden and Nutrition Program. MKCCC received a first time grant from the Ronald
McDonald House Foundation for implementing a social skills and anti-bullying curriculum
for preschool and school age children.
Our partnerships with My Second Home, a program of Family Services of Westchester, and The Children‟s School for Early Development are integral to the success of
MKCCC. We also thank The Junior League of Northern Westchester for their continued
help of families most in need through their Annual Holiday Gift Drive.
Volunteers are the core of Mount Kisco Child Care Center, and we are so very
appreciative of the time and effort they give to the Center. From the middle school students to older adults to special events committees, we thank you for all that you provide
to the Center.
Lastly, on behalf of the children, families, and staff, we are forever grateful to
Steven Wysmuller, our Board President, and the Board of Directors of Mount Kisco Child
Care Center. You are the true guardians of the children and families we serve. Our children couldn‟t be in better hands.
