August 21 - 24, 2014: EBS Pilot Safety Training/Stendal ( EDOV )

Another yearly EBS event is the EBS Pilot Safety Training with the Special arrangement of a so
called "Pinch Hitter" Course. This kind of an emergency training is especially designed for
accompanying partners in case of the pilot gets unconscious or cannot complete the flight without
assistance. “Pinch Hitters” are trained to use some basic communication and navigation equipment
in order to support or even complete the flight with a landing preferably on an airfield.

Participants of the PST have to undergo an
intensive and demanding training program,
which is not offered anywhere else in Europe.
Designer and head of this training program is
Flight Instructor Hermann Schmoeckel. His
professional status is chief test pilot at ATR /
Toulouse. The Pinch Hitter Course is designed
an conducted by flight instructor Bernd
Herrmann/Berlin. Further flight instructors are
commercial pilots. Organisation and Logistics
are in hands of Uwe Lutz/Guderhandviertel
Class Rating Instructor (CRI).

Die European Bonanza Society veranstaltet wie schon
seit 2008 auch in diesem Jahr wieder ihr Piloten
Sicherheitstraining auf dem Flugplatz Stendal Borstel.
Als besondere Aktion wird, wie schon seit 2010 ein
„Pinch Hitter“ Kurs durchgeführt. Dieses Notfalltraining
ist hauptsächlich für mitfliegende Partner des/der
Piloten/in gedacht, der, falls der/die Pilot/in z.B. wegen
einer Ohnmacht oder aus anderen Gründen ganz oder
teilweise ausfällt, das Flugzeug zur Landung bringen
(vorzugsweise auf einem Flugplatz) oder dabei
unterstützen kann. DieTeilnehmer an dem Piloten
S i c h e r h e i t s Tra i n i n g u n t e r z i e h e n s i c h e i n e m
anspruchsvollem Trainingsprogramm, wie es mit
diesem Inhalt kaum sonst wo in Europa angeboten
wird.

Leiter des gesamten Programms ist der Berufspilot/
Fluglehrer Hermann Schmoeckel (FI), im Beruf ChefTestpilot bei ATR in Toulouse.
Der „Pinch Hitter“ Kurs wird zusammengestellt und geleitet von Fluglehrer (FI) Bernd
Herrmann/Berlin. Die weiteren Fluglehrer sind alle Berufspiloten. Organisation und Logistik des
Sicherheitstrainings liegt in den Händen von Uwe Lutz/Guderhandviertel (CRI).

September 11.-13. / EBS Annual Fly In 2014 to Vilshofen, Germany

Annual EBS Fly In 2014 is scheduled with a Fly In to Vilshofen (EDMV) / Germany. Vilshofen is
one of the most beautiful Airfields in Germany. It is located next to the Danube river 15 Nm
north of Passau. Vilshofen a picturesque old town in the Donau Valley can be reached
comfortably by a 5 minute walk across the Danube bridge.
As the program of that weekend is not finally set, further information will be distributed within
the next few weeks.

In general it will look like our past events in Stade, Wilhelmshaven, North Weald or Linkoeping
with arrival at the Friday, followed by welcome babecue party at or next to the airfield. For
Saturday we have planned a short flight to Salzburg/Austria including a visit to the famous Red
Bull Museum/Hangar. We still have to have some thoughts about the Saturday Night event. The
sunday is scheduled for departure as usual.

11. - 13.September "Jährliches EBS Fly In" in 2014 nach Vilshofen / Deutschland

Das jährliche EBS Fly In ist für 2014 nach Vilshofen / Deutschland geplant. Vilshofen (EDMV)
wird als einer der schönsten Flugplätze in Deutschland bezeichnet und liegt nur ca. 15 Nm
nördlich von Passau. Die malerische Innenstadt Vilshofen liegt nur wenige Gehminuten über die
Donaybrücke hinweg vom Flugplatz enfernt. Das Programm ist noch nicht voll entwickelt, wird
aber in den kommenden Wochen veröffentlicht.
Der Ablauf unserer EBS Fly Ins ist im Grunde genommen immer ähnlich. Der Freitag ist der
Ankunftstag mit einem Grillabend am Flugplatz. Für Sonntag ist ein Ausflug in die Alpen mit
Landung in Salzburg und einem Besuch des brühmten Red Bull Museums/Hangars auf dem
Flugplatz. Für die Party am Sonnabend müssen wir uns noch etwas Besonderes einfallen lassen.
Doch darüber in den kommenden Wochen mehr und weitere Details. Der Sonntag ist dann wie
gewohnt unser Abschiedstag.
