Situated 26 kilometres south of Vienna, in the heart of the winegrowing Thermenregion (literally: Thermal Region) in the Vienna Woods, the elegant city of Baden is a wonderful events venue, enticing the visitor with ideal facilities for conventions, conferences, and seminars. First-class accommodation, cultural and culinary delights, gaming and excitement at the Grand Casino or the historic harness races, and the modern wellness oases provide the perfect framework. Baden benefits from its quiet location in green nature, from its excellent convention centres and hotels, and from creativity in the designing of incentive programmes. In addition, it is advantageously close to Vienna. It takes only 40 minutes to reach Vienna from Baden by car or bus, and 25 minutes by train, while the Baden-Vienna tram service runs every 15 minutes, taking just 60 minutes to arrive directly outside the Wiener Staatsoper. Baden also enjoys excellent international transport connections. Vienna International Airport is just 33 kilometres away, and connected directly to Baden bei Wien via the S1 train line. Conventions fit for a Kaiser – everything is possible! Tradition and incentives need not be opposites. Many a person enjoying a stroll through the city has encountered the Kaiser. Or at least, that’s how it felt that way at the time. Magnificent edifices from the Biedermeier era, such as the StadtTheatre-style Baden and the Sommerarena with its retractable glass roof, as well as smaller buildings, such as the one in which Beethoven composed his 9th symphony, or the Arnulf Rainer Museum, are available as venues for incentive events. The traditional spa city has always placed great importance on culture – the roots of the Stadttheater Baden date back to the 18th century! The Stadttheater received its splendid present-day appearance in 1909. Alongside productions from all genres of culture, it was and still is the venue for numerous large events such as awards ceremonies, product presentations, and film recordings. Since September 2010, the Max-Reinhardt Foyer, which offers nearly 100 seats, has also been available for smaller events. And in the summer months, Bühne Baden’s Sommerarena can also be hired as an event location. The retractable glass roof allows for unique events under the stars, and, if necessary, provides protection against rain. Grasmuck In 1338, Duke Otto the Merry presented the Carthusian monks of Gaming with a present fit for a king: He gifted them his “Badener Berghof” and all its lands. One key part of this gift was the Badenerberg vineyards. The forest-covered hill on which we now stand, and which adjoins the vineyards, was also included. To this day, its name is the Gamingerberg. When the municipality of Baden built a forest inn here in 1881, its intended name was the historicising “Berghof”. But then came the wedding between Crown Prince Rudolf and the Archduchess Stephanie. In the blink of an eye, the Berghof became the Rudolfshof. Once again, the city of Baden had done honour to its nickname “Schwarzgelbowitz” (“Black-andYellow-Ville”, after the colours of the House of Hapsburg). The seminar room is on the 1st floor of the building, and features 2 roofed terraces and a balcony. It is possible to use sun-blinds to protect the south-facing windows against direct sunlight. What makes Baden’s harness-racing track so special is that the seats are situated very close to the race track, so that the public get to see the horses and racers up close. This is especially the case in the VIP boxes, which can be hired for exclusive use. For the truly discerning, the Kaiserloge (“imperial box”) is surely one of the most beautiful places from which to experience an exciting harness race up close. From June to early September, the harness racing track is the scene of popular races, with around 100,000 visitors per racing season. Participate in your own horse race on the historic harness-racing course – with the double sulky!
