A
l nostro arrivo il villaggio si presentò nella sua incantevole bellezza. Inserito
nel verde della natura della costa del Lido
di Pomposa, ai bordi del Parco del Delta, esso apparve subito il luogo perfetto
per trascorrere le vacanze con la famiglia.
Una simpatica ragazza ci accolse e ci illustrò tutti i servizi offerti dal villaggio. Il
vento soffiava leggero sui nostri capelli ed
il profumo di salsedine inebriava i nostri
pensieri.
Una signora ci condusse ai nostri alloggi,
i bambini si rincorrevano spensierati tra
i vialetti del villaggio delimitati da siepi.
Respiravo il profumo del mare, ascoltavo
il rumore delle onde che s’infrangevano a
riva e già m’immaginavo sdraiata al sole
assorta nella lettura del mio ultimo romanzo.

ei unserer Ankunft hat uns das Feriendorf sofort mit seiner Schönheit verzaubert. Uns war sofort klar, dass das Feriendorf
mitten im Grünen an der Küste vom Lido
di Pomposa und am Rande vom Naturpark vom Delta der absolut ideale Ort für
einen unvergesslichen Familienurlaub ist.
Eine freundliche Mitarbeiterin hat uns in
Empfang genommen und uns das Angebot
und Programm vom Feriendorf erläutert.
Eine leichte Brise trug uns den wundervollen Salzgeruch vom Meer zu und wir waren
sofort hingerissen.
Eine Mitarbeiterin hat uns unsere Un-
terkunft gezeigt und die Kinder spielten
ausgelassen Fangen zwischen den Hecken
auf den Wegen der Ferienanlage. Überall
duftete es nach Meer und wir konnten das
Rauschen der Wellen hören. In Gedanken
war ich schon am Strand in der Sonne und
in meinen neuesten Lieblingsroman vertieft.

n our arrival, the village appeared in all its enchanting beauty. Nestled in
nature’s green along the coast of Lido di
Pomposa, bordering the Delta Park, we
immediately realised it was the perfect place to spend our family vacation. A nice girl
greeted us and explained to us all the services
offered by the village. The wind blew lightly
in our hair and the scent of salt air inebriated our thoughts.
A lady guided us to our lodgings, the children
ran carefree between the hedge-lined paths of
the village. I breathed in the scent of the sea,
listening to the sound of waves crashing on
the shore and already imagined myself lying
in the sun absorbed in reading my latest novel.

Im Bungalow gab es eine Klimaanlage,
einen Fernseher, auf dem die Kinder ihre
Cartoons schauen konnten, und praktische
Bettsofas, auf denen sie sich vor dem Einschlafen Geschichten erzählen konnten. Der
König der Löwen, ihr Lieblingsmärchen.

hen we arrived at the bungalow,
the children were ecstatic. “It’s right by the
sea!”, they rejoiced and hugged each other,
“We even have our own garden!”. I was sure
they would have appreciated it. When I choose our vacation spots, I always think about
them and try not to forget the needs of my
husband Paul. He loves sports and nature.
The bungalow was air-conditioned and featured a television for the kids’ cartoons and
comfortable sofa beds where they fell asleep
telling each other a story. The Lion King,
their favourite.

nna e Marco, i miei più cari amici,
con i loro tre figli, avevano scelto di unirsi
a noi. Anch’essi erano stati accompagnati
dalla signora al loro alloggio. Lo chalet
era composto di due camere da letto. Una
per la coppia e l’altra per i figli. Posizionato nella fresca pineta nelle vicinanze del
parco giochi, quell’estate era diventata la
base d’incontro dei nostri figli. Lo chalet
era un caravan dalle grandi dimensioni
con soggiorno ed angolo cottura dal design moderno, era dotato dei più avanzati
comfort e garantiva un soggiorno davvero rilassante. Ricordo le serate trascorse
a lume di candela, le chiacchiere erano
accompagnate dalle prelibatezze di Anna
e dalla simpatia di Marco. Quante risate
con i nostri bambini e che serenità nel saperli al sicuro.

Quante risate con i nostri bambini e che
serenità nel saperli al sicuro.
U
nsere besten Freunde Hanna und
Mark hatten sich dazu entschlossen, ihren
Urlaub gemeinsam mit ihren drei Kindern
hier mit uns zu verbringen. Auch sie waren
von der freundlichen Mitarbeiterin zu ihrer
Unterkunft gebracht worden. Das Chalet
hatte zwei Schlafzimmer, eins für die Eltern und das andere für die Kinder. Mit
seiner Position mitten im schattigen Pinienwäldchen ganz in der Nähe vom Spielplatz
war es in diesem Sommer die Anlaufstelle
und der Treffpunkt für unsere Kinder. Das
Chalet war ein großzügiges Wohnmobil mit
Wohnbereich und moderner Kochnische, das
allen Komfort zu bieten hatte und für einen
wirklich erholsamen Urlaub garantierte. Ich
erinnere mich noch gut an die Abende bei
Kerzenschein, an unsere Gespräche, an die
Leckereien, die Hanna für uns zubereitete,
und an ihren sympathischen Mann Mark.
Wie viel haben wir zusammen mit den Kindern gelacht und wie glücklich waren wir,
dass es uns allen gut ging und die Kinder gut
aufgehoben waren.

nnie and Mark, my dearest friends,
with their three children, had chosen to join
us. They too had been guided by the lady to
their lodging. Their chalet was composed of
two bedrooms. One for the couple and the
other for the children. Located in the cool
pinewoods near the playground, that summer it became our children‘s meeting place.
The chalet was a large caravan with a living
room and kitchenette of modern design; it
was equipped with the most advanced comforts and ensured a truly relaxing stay. I
remember the evenings by candlelight, our
conversations were accompanied by Annie‘s
delicacies and Mark‘s humour. How many
laughs with our children, and what peace of
mind knowing they were safe.

n diesem Sommer trafen wir auch ein
befreundetes Paar. Hans kommt aus München, Emma lebt in London. Er ist Kunstliebhaber, sie wollte der grauen Großstadt
entkommen. Deshalb haben sich die beiden
für Lido di Pomposa entschieden.
Sie hatten ein Doppelzimmer mit Kochnische gebucht. Für das kinderlose Paar, das
den ganzen Tag unterwegs war, war das
eine optimale Lösung. Morgens machten
sie Ausflüge in die umliegenden Städte, am
späten Nachmittag kamen sie zum Feriendorf zurück und genossen in aller Ruhe den
Sonnenuntergang am Strand. Erst bei Dunkelheit waren sie wieder auf ihrem Zimmer,
wo sie auf dem Balkon den Abend ausklingen ließen und über all das sprachen, was sie
tagsüber erlebt hatten.

of friends. John was from Amsterdam, Emy
lived in London. He loved ancient art, she
wanted a break from the metropolitan drabness, for that reason they had chosen Lido di
Pomposa.
They were staying in a double room, with a
small kitchenette. That was fine for them,
they had no little ones to take care of and
they organised all their days. In the morning
they would visit the nearby towns and, in
the late afternoon, they would return to the
Village and enjoy the spectacle of the last sun
on the beach. They returned to their room
only when the sun went down and on their
terrace they shared their impressions of the day.

uell’estate incontrammo anche
una coppia di amici. Gianni era di Milano, Emma viveva a Londra. Lui amava
l’arte antica, lei voleva distaccarsi dal grigiore metropolitano, per questo avevano
scelto il Lido di Pomposa.
Alloggiavano in una stanza doppia, dotata
di piccolo angolo cottura. A loro andava
bene così, non avevano dei marmocchi
da accomodare ed organizzavano tutte le
loro giornate. Al mattino andavano a visitare le città vicine e, nel tardo pomeriggio,
tornavano al Villaggio e godevano dello
spettacolo dell’ultimo sole in spiaggia.
Tornavano in camera solo quando il sole
calava e nel loro terrazzo si raccontavano
le impressioni della giornata.

E
ravamo in molti. Per questo avevamo deciso che il nostro luogo d’incontro
sarebbe stata l’ampia spiaggia del villaggio.
Io e Anna trascorrevamo la maggior parte
del nostro tempo li. I bambini potevano
costruire i castelli di sabbia sul bagnasciuga. Noi potevamo godere del relax
sotto l’ombrellone ed i nostri mariti potevano passeggiare sulla battigia, giocare a
calcetto, pallavolo e beach volley. Potevamo tutti fare il bagno senza troppe paure
perché sapevamo di essere sempre osservati dagli sguardi attenti dei bagnini.

ir waren eine große Gruppe und
haben deshalb den großen Strand vom Feriendorf zu unserem Treffpunkt gemacht.
Hanna und ich verbrachten den Großteil
unserer Zeit am Strand. Die Kinder bauten
Sandburgen und wir konnten uns in aller
Ruhe unter dem Sonnenschirm entspannen,
während unsere Männer einen Spaziergang
am Strand machten oder mit Fußball, Volleyball oder Beachvolley ihren Spaß hatten.
Unter den aufmerksamen Blicken der Bademeister konnten wir alle ganz beruhigt
baden.
W
e were many. For this reason we
decided that our meeting place would be the
village‘s wide beach.
Annie and I spent most of our time there. The
kids could build sandcastles on the shore. We
could enjoy relaxing under an umbrella and
our husbands could walk on the shoreline,
play soccer, volleyball and beach volleyball.
We could all go for a swim without too many
fears because we knew we were always under
the lifeguards‘ watchful gaze.
I
l villaggio era davvero l’ideale per chi
amava lo sport e la natura. Mio marito
Paolo si alzava presto al mattino e praticava lo spinning. Io e Anna, dopo aver accompagnato i bambini al miniclub, seguivamo la lezione di acqua gym sull’ampio
solarium e poi quella di aerobica. Marco,
invece, si dedicava alla sua più grande
passione: il nuoto nella piscina semiolimpionica.
Ogni tanto la sera, i nostri mariti si sfidavano a tennis nel campo illuminato.
Entrambi avevano abbandonato la carriera ai tempi del liceo ma amavano rivivere
l’emozione della competizione.
I nostri bambini avevano scoperto il parco

acquatico con la nuova grande giostra ad
acqua dove era possibile inventare mille
avventure: un‘attrazione irresistibile anche
per i papà. Era un vero piacere vederli giocare insieme!
D
as Feriendorf war wirklich großartig für alle Sportfanatiker und Naturliebhaber. Mein Mann Paul stand früh am Morgen auf und fing seinen Tag mit Spinning
an. Hanna und ich brachten die Kindern
in den Miniclub und konnten dann in
aller Ruhe beim Aquagym auf der großen
Sonnenterrasse und beim Aerobic-Training
mitmachen. Mark zog in der Zwischenzeit
als begeisterter Schwimmer im 25 m Pool
seine Bahnen.
Hin und wieder spielten unsere Männer
abends auf dem beleuchteten Tennisplatz
eine Runde Tennis gegeneinander.
Beide hatten seit der Schulzeit keine Turniere mehr gespielt, genossen aber die Herausforderung, gegen einen guten Gegner zu spielen.
Unsere Kinder hatten das Erlebnisbad mit
der tollen neuen Wasserrutsche entdeckt, die
ihnen niemals langweilig wurde und der
auch die Väter nicht widerstehen konnten.
Es war wirklich schön, die Kinder mit ihren
Vätern spielen zu sehen!

T
he village was truly ideal for lovers
of sports and nature. My husband Paul got
up early in the morning and did spinning.
Annie and I, after dropping off the kids at
the mini club, attended the water aerobics
class on the large sun terrace and then the
aerobics class. Mark, on the other hand,
dedicated his time to his greatest passion:
swimming in the semi-Olympic size pool.
Every now and then in the evening, our husbands challenged each other at tennis on the
floodlit court.
Both had given up the sport in high school
but they loved reliving the thrill of competition.
Our children had discovered the water park
with the new big water slide where they
could invent a thousand adventures:
an irresistible attraction for the dads, too. It
was a real pleasure to see them play together!

e le sfide in famiglia

a quando avevano iniziato
a frequentare il miniclub i nostri
maschietti pronunciavano nomi strani
come Helmut, Ilian, Igor, Steven e
Melanie. Erano quelli degli amici con
cui svolgevano le attività ricreative
durante la giornata. Realizzavano
costumi, ascoltavano favole musicali,
preparavano delle recite e frequentavano
dei mini corsi di lingua . Anche le
nostre bambine partecipavano a quelle
attività ma non erano colpite dai nomi

dei nuovi amici, bensì dalla mini disco
dance. Erano diventate delle pop star,
ballavano e cantavano gironzolando per
il villaggio.
Ogni sera gli animatori proponevano
delle serate d’intrattenimento. Giochi,
balli, complessi dal vivo, feste a tema
e spettacoli di magia ma soprattutto
rendevano la famiglia protagonista
coinvolgendola in gare di castelli, sfide

eit unsere Jungs in den Miniclub
gingen, redeten sie die ganze Zeit von
ihren Freunden mit so ausgefallenen
Namen wie Lorenzo, Sandro, Giulia,
Steven und Melanie, gemeinsam mit
denen sie den Tag mit vielen spannenden
Aktivitäten verbrachten. Sie schneiderten
Kostüme, hörten sich musikalische
Märchen an, übten Aufführungen ein
und besuchten Minisprachkurse. Auch
unsere Mädchen gingen in den Miniclub,
waren aber weniger von den Namen der
Quella conchiglia è la perla bianca, quel gioiello
che le sirene indossavano per attraversare
il mare la notte.
Diese Muschel ist die weiße Perle, die von den
Meerjungfrauen als Schmuck getragen wurde,
wenn sie nachts durch das Meer schwammen.

neuen Freunde fasziniert, als vom MiniDisco-Dance. Sie waren echte Popstars
geworden, tanzten, sangen und zogen
gemeinsam durch das Feriendorf.
Jeden Abend gab es ein Abendprogramm
mit den Animateuren. Spiele, Tanz,
Lifemusik, Feste mit bestimmten Themen
und Zaubervorführungen. Im Mittelpunkt
standen dabei immer die Familien,
die bei den Sandburgenwettbewerben
mitmachten, oder bei Wettbewerben,
bei denen die Eltern gegen die Kinder
antraten, oder die an einem der vielen
Gruppenausflüge teilnahmen.

rom the moment they began attending
the mini club, our boys were uttering
strange names like Lorenzo, Sandro,
Giulia, Franz and Sabine. Those were the
friends with whom they took part in the
recreational activities during the day. They
made costumes, listened to musical stories,
prepared plays and attended mini language
courses. Our little girls also participated in
the activities but they weren’t struck by the
names of their new friends, but by the mini
disco dancing. They had become pop stars;
they sang and danced around the village.
Every night the entertainers proposed the
evening’s activities. Games, dances, live
bands, theme parties and magic shows,
but above all, they made the families the
protagonists, involving them in sandcastle
competitions, challenges between parents and
children and organising group excursions.

a terrazza del ristorante era collocata di fronte all’area dove venivano presentati gli spettacoli serali. Per questo io ed
Anna avevamo organizzato una cena con
Emma e Gianni, volevamo condividere le
bellezze del territorio per organizzare delle
escursioni. Il ristorante era il luogo ideale
per poter trascorrere la serata in compagnia ed allietare i bambini che erano intrattenuti dagli spettacoli.
Il menù era davvero alla portata di tutti.
I bambini adoravano i würstel le patatine
fritte e non si perdevano mai gli abbondanti “kinder-party”, ma noi…
La cucina offriva i migliori piatti della tradizione locale a base di carne e pesce.
Emma era entusiasta di degustare i sapori
di quella terra che le aveva dipinto lo
sguardo di verde. Anna ed io, così attente
alla linea, eravamo particolarmente
soddisfatte di poter mangiare il pesce azzurro del Mar Adriatico ed i nostri mariti
si confrontavano sulle qualità dei vini del
luogo. Dal pane alla frutta, dagli ortaggi al
pesce, dalle specialità di carne ai vini, ogni
assaggio era una scoperta.

hatten deshalb ein Abendessen mit Emma
und Hans geplant, mit denen wir über die
Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Gegend sprechen
und Ausflüge organisieren wollten. Das Restaurant bietet sich für gesellige Abende an
und die Kinder haben ihren Spaß mit dem
Abendprogramm.
Das Menü hatte für jeden das Richtige. Die
Kinder aßen mit Begeisterung Würstchen
mit Pommes und waren ganz wild auf die
tollen Kinder-Partys, und wir...
Für uns gab es leckere Fisch- und Fleischgerichte der lokalen Küche. Emma probierte
mit großer Begeisterung die Spezialitäten
des Landes, das einen so angenehmen Kontrast zu ihrem Großstadtleben bot. Hanna
und ich legen großen Wert auf unsere Linie
und entschieden uns deshalb gerne für den
Fisch aus der Adria, und unsere Männer
genossen die Fachsimpelei über die lokalen
Weine. Brot und Obst, Gemüse und Fisch,
Fleischspezialitäten und Weine, jedes Gericht war ein wahrer Genuss.

he restaurant‘s terrace was located
in front of the area where the evening shows
were presented. For this reason, Annie and I
had arranged a dinner with Emy and John,
we wanted to share the beauty of the area
to organise excursions. The restaurant was
the perfect place to spend the evening with
friends and delight the children who were
entertained by shows.
The menu was very affordable for everyone.
The kids loved the sausage and chips and
never missed out on the abundant „kinderparties“, but for us...
The kitchen offered the best local traditional
dishes of meat and fish. Emy was excited to
taste the flavours of the land that had painted her gaze in green. Annie and I, so conscious of our figures, were particularly happy
to be able to eat oily fish from the Adriatic Sea and our husbands exchanged views
on the quality of the local wines. From the
bread to the fruit, the vegetables to the fish,
the meat dishes to the wines, every taste was
a discovery.

mma e Gianni avevano visitato davvero tutto il possibile. A Ravenna
avevano ammirato i bagliori dei mosaici
bizantini.
Avevano visitato Comacchio e Venezia e
ne avevano colto lo spirito e le somiglianze.
Affascinati dalla storia di civiltà diverse, si
erano recati a Ferrara dove Emma aveva
scoperto le meraviglie degli Estensi, dalle
sale del Castello al Palazzo dei Diamanti.
Avevano praticato il birdwatching nelle
vicine Stazioni del Parco del Delta e raccontavano di aver avvistato un esemplare
raro di Airone Marangone librarsi in volo.
Dicevano che le Valli di Comacchio con
le antiche Saline fosse la terra preferita dai
fenicotteri, li ne avevano notati molti.
Si vantavano addirittura di aver cambiato
stato. Erano entrati a San Marino.
Ma una cosa su tutte non erano riusciti a
fare e la chiesero a noi … “Mirabilandia”
ed i bambini intonarono un “Siiiii”.
Il giorno seguente organizzammo tutto il
necessario. Partimmo con le nostre auto
ed in meno di un’ora raggiungemmo la
nostra meta.
Ricordo ancora quel giorno come il più
divertente. Il sorriso pervadeva i nostri
volti, i nostri figli erano felici ed i nostri
amici finalmente potevano divertirsi con i
bambini. Che gioia!

sich in vieler Hinsicht gleichen.
Ihr großes Interesse an der Geschichte unterschiedlicher Kulturen hatte sie nach Ferrara geführt, wo Emma auf den Spuren der
Estensi gewandert war, von den Sälen in der
Burg bis zum Palazzo dei Diamanti. Sie
hatten Birdwatching in den nahe gelegenen
Stationen vom Park vom Delta gemacht
und erzählten uns, dass sie ein Exemplar der
seltenen Krähenscharbe im Flug beobachten
konnten. Sie erzählten uns, dass die Valli di
Comacchio mit den antiken Salinen Flamingos einen idealen Lebensraum bieten,
von denen sie viele gesehen haben.
Sie gaben sogar damit an, ein anderes Land
bereist zu haben, weil sie einen Ausflug nach
San Marino gemacht hatten.
Aber eine Sehenswürdigkeit fehlte ihnen
noch auf ihrer Liste und so fragten sie uns,
ob wir mit ihnen nach „Mirabilandia“ fahren wollten, was bei den Kindern natürlich
wahre Begeisterungsstürme auslöste.
Am nächsten Tag organisierten wir unseren Ausflug und waren in weniger als einer
Stunde mit dem Auto bereits am Ziel.
Ich werde nie vergessen, wie viel Spaß wir
an diesem Tag hatten! Wir freuten uns, unsere Kinder waren so glücklich und unsere
Freunde hatten ihren Spaß mit den Kids.

my and John had really visited as
much as possible. In Ravenna they had admired the dazzling Byzantine mosaics.
They had visited Venice and Comacchio, feeling the spirit and noting the similarities of
the places.
Fascinated by the history of different civilizations, they had gone to Ferrara where Emy
had discovered the wonders of the Estensi,
from the Castle halls to the Palazzo dei Diamanti. They had gone birdwatching in the
nearby stations of the Delta Park and told
us that they had spotted a rare specimen of
Cormorant Heron take flight. They said that
the Valli di Comacchio with its ancient salt
mines was the land favoured by flamingos;
there they had seen many of them.
They even boasted of having gone to another
country. They had visited San Marino.
But there was one thing they hadn‘t managed to do, and they asked us ... „Mirabilandia?“ and the children shouted „Yaaaaay.“
The next day we got everything ready. We
left in our cars and in less than an hour we
reached our destination.
I still remember that day as the most fun. We
were all smiles, our children were happy and
our friends could finally play with the kids.
What a joy!

Dall’autostrada A22 “del Brennero” uscire a Verona Sud ed immettersi nella superstrada SS
434 fino a Villa Marzana (Rovigo), entrare in
