Die Ausstellung zum Thema «Mischtechnik» mit
internationalen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern im
Galeriehotel!
Die aktuelle Ausstellung im Galeriehotel ist dem Thema «Mischtechnik» gewidmet.
Die künstlerische Person, die in diesem Bereich kreiert, arbeitet und erkundet, ist
experimentierfreudig und schöpft alle Möglichkeiten der Materialien aus, denn in diesem
Bereich gibt es keine Grenzen, alles kann und darf im Kunstobjekt eingearbeitet werden.
Mischtechnik bedeutet lediglich, dass mehr als zwei Medien im Kunstobjekt verarbeitet
und schliesslich noch sichtbar sind. Mischtechnik-Künstler und -Künstlerinnen entwickeln
mit ihren eigenen Material-Verbindungen neue Techniken.
Diesen wundervollen, grenzenlosen und unglaublich weitläufigen Bereich der Kunst haben
wir einmal kreuz und quer durchforstet, sind tief in ihn hinabgetaucht und haben eine
Ausschreibung lanciert, um Künstlerinnen und Künstler zu finden, die Kunstwerke kreieren
und dabei verschiedene Techniken, Materialien, Instrumente und Anwendungen nutzen.
Eine grosse, farbige, gemischte Palette voller Möglichkeiten!
Dabei haben wir 16 wunderbare, internationale Künstler und Künstlerinnen gefunden die
ihre Bilder nun im Galeriehotel ausstellen. Die 56 Kunstwerke sind ab sofort in den 24
Hotelzimmern und den Gängen des Galeriehotels für ein Jahr zu sehen.

the gallery hotel at the Teufelhof
The current exhibition is dedicated to „Mixed Media.
The artistic person that works, creates and explores in this area is adventurous exploits all
possibilities of materials. In this area there are no limits, everything can and must be
incorporated in the artwork. Mixed Media simply means that more than one media is used
in the artwork and is visible at the end. Often Mixed Media artist develop their own
techniques with their own material connections.
We criss-crossed this wonderful, limitless and incredibly expansive field of art, dived deep
into it and launched an open call to find Mixed Media artists, who create artworks with
various techniques, materials, tools and applications. A large, colourful, mixed range of
possibilities!
We found 16 wonderful, international artists, who are now exposing their works at the
Gallery Hotel. The 57 artwork are exposed in the 24 rooms of the hotel and in the
hallways. You can see and buy these works during one year.

Bistra Bakalova
Bistra Bakalova wurde in Bulgarien geboren. Im Jahr 1992 absolvierte sie die
Kunstakademie Kiew in der Ukraine. Jetzt lebt und arbeitet sie in Prag/Tschechische
Republik.
Die Bilder von Bistra führen uns in eine Frauen-Welt, eine Welt voller Spontanität und
Irrationalität. Ihre Träume, ihre Kindheit und ihre Erinnerungen bettet sie in ihre
Kunstwerke.
Ihre Werke wurden ein Teil ihres Wesens, sie sind ihre Ausdrucksform und irgendwie ein
Weg, um ihren Sorgen zu entkommen. Sie will Menschen erreichen, und diese ihre Kunst
fühlen lassen.
Bistra stellte ihre farbenfrohen und emotionalen Gemälde in ganz Europa aus, in Prag,
Frankfurt, Genf und Basel. Viele von Bistras Bilder befinden sich in Privatsammlungen auf
der ganzen Welt.
Bistra Bakalova was born in Bulgaria. In 1992 she graduated from the Kiev Academy of Art
in Ukraine. Now she lives and works in Prague / Czech Republic.
The paintings of Bistra lead us to a women’s world, a world full of spontaneity and
irrationality. Her dreams, childhood and memories are imbedded in her artworks.
Her paintings became a part of her being, her form of expression and somehow a way to
escape. She wants to reach out people and make them feel her art.
Bistra exhibited her colourful and emotional paintings all over Europe, in Prague, Frankfurt,
Geneva and Basel. Many of Bistra´s paintings can be found in private collections all over
the world.

Chloë Feldman Emison
Chloë Feldman Emison konnte ihre Zeichnungen in den Vereinigten Staaten und
Grossbritannien bereits weitläufig zeigen, währenddessen arbeitet sie auch als Animator
und Illustrator. Sie studierte Kunst am Williams College und an der “Ruskin School of
Drawing and Fine Art“ und an der Universität Oxford, sowie Animation an Forkbeard
Fantasy in Devon. Sie war Gastkünstlerin bei Wespen Studios in Glasgow, und absolvierte
Austauschprogramme in den verschiedensten Ländern.
Sie lehrte Animation an der Eagle Hill School in Hardwick, Massachusetts. Sie erhielt den
Mixed Media Artist of the Year der Cambridge Art Association im Jahre 2009.
Sie hat mit der Elements Contemporary Ballet Company in Chicago an der Gestaltung
eines neuen Balletts für das Jahr 2016 gearbeitet. Ihre Illustrationen wurden in
verschiedenen Literaturzeitschriften, darunter Kansas City Voices und Graze Magazine,
veröffentlicht. Die "Grinn Märchen" von Alan Proctor mit ihren Illustrationen werden im
Herbst 2014 veröffentlicht.
Chloë Feldman Emison has shown her drawings widely in the United States and Britain,
while working also as animator and illustrator. She studied fine art at Williams College and
at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University, and animation at
Forkbeard Fantasy in Devon. She was a visiting artist at Wasps Studios in Glasgow, and
completed residencies in various countries.

She has been collaborating with the Elements Contemporary Ballet Company in Chicago

Corey Breneisen
Corey Breneisen wurde in Pennsylvania/USA geboren und zog 2010 nach
Kingston/Jamaika um. Kunst war nicht ihre erste Wahl, als sie im Jahr 1998 ihr Studium
mit einem B. A. in „Liberal Arts“ am William Smith College in New York begann. Später
studierte sie Kunst am Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Zurzeit unterrichtet sie Kunst an einer
High School und in einem Kunst-Atelier in Kingston.
Ihre Arbeit reflektiert ihre Philosophie, welche durch Meditation, Yoga und Feng Shui
beeinflusst wurde. Ihre Kunstwerke sind abstrakt und widerspiegeln ihre Leidenschaft.
Ihre Farbkompositionen sind harmonisch und ausgewogen.
Corey stellte ihre Kunstwerke hauptsächlich in und um New York aus, aber auch in ganz
USA und war eine der ausgewählten Künstlerinnen an der Biennale der National Gallery in
Kingston. Nun sind ihre Arbeiten zum ersten Mal in Europa zu sehen.
Corey Breneisen was born in Pennsylvania/U.S. and moved to Kingston/Jamaica in 2010.
Art was not her first choice as she graduated in 1998 with a B.A. in the Liberal Arts from
William Smith College in New York. She later studied art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
At the moment she is teaching art at a High School and an Art Studio in Kingston.
Her artworks reflect very much her philosophy influenced by meditation, yoga and Feng
Shui. Her artworks are abstract in nature and express her passion. The colour
compositions are harmonic and balanced.
Corey exhibited her work in and around New York, in the States and was one of the
selected artists at the Biennal of the National gallery in Kingston Jamaica. For the first
time her work can be seen in Europe.

Daniela Brugger
Die Baslerin Daniela Brugger erhielt ihren Bachelor of Arts an der ZHdK in Zürich im Jahr
2009, studierte jeweils ein Semester in Budapest und Brüssel und absolviert zurzeit den
Master of Fine Arts an der HGK in Basel.
Ihre Bilder verbinden diverse Zeichnungsutensilien wie Tusch, Grafit, Filzstift und Leinöl
auf kariertem Papier. Seit 2013 sind die Zeichnungen ein fester Bestandteil ihrer Arbeit
und setzen sich mit der Welt des 21. Jahrhunderts auseinander, sprich der digitalen Welt.
Ihre Bilder reflektieren die (scheinbar) geordnete Welt.
Daniela setzt ihre Ideen, Gedanken und Ansichten mit hoher Bereitschaft künstlerisch um,
dies unter anderem auch in Form von Installationen.
Ihre Werke waren bereits in Galerien und Ausstellungen in der ganzen Schweiz,
Deutschland und Österreich zu sehen.
The artist from Basel Daniela Brugger got her Bachelor of Arts at the ZHdK in Zurich in
2009, studied one semester in Budapest and in Brussels and is currently graduating her
Master of Fine Arts at the HGK in Basel.
Her paintings combine various drawing materials like ink, graphite, felt-tip pen and linseed
oil on graph paper. Since 2013, those drawings are an inherent part of Daniela’s work and
deal with the world of the 21st century, which is the digital world. Her artworks reflect the
(apparently) sorted world.
Daniela translates her ideas, thoughts and sights into artistic works, including the form of
installations. She does this with high willingness and great effort.
Her artworks were exhibited in galleries and exhibitions all over Switzerland, Germany and
Austria.

Ellen Scobie
Ellen Scobie ist eine Künstlerin aus Vancouver, welche die traditionellen Kunstformen der
Fotografie, Druckgrafik und Malerei vereint. In ihrem zweiten Jahr an der University of
Victoria wechselte Ellen zum Studium der Kunstgeschichte und schloss an der University
of Manitoba mit Auszeichnung ab. Danach ging sie nach England, wo sie historische
Kalligraphie und Buchgestaltung an der London School of Printing studierte. Die
Verlockung der Sonne zog sie nach Spanien, wo sie in ihrer eigenen Grafik-Design-Firma
einige Jahre arbeitete. Zurück an der Westküste von Kanada, arbeitete Ellen im Marketingund Kommunikationsbereich und verbrachte dabei Stunden in der Bearbeitung und
Retusche von Fotos.
Seit 2008 hat sie ihre Handschrift durch Experimentieren mit digitalen Werkzeugen
entwickelt. Jedes neue Kunstwerk wird mit fotografischen Fragmenten aus ihrem
digitalen Archiv aufgebaut. Diese dicht geschichteten, digitalen Mischtechnik-Werke
navigieren in den Gebieten der Fotografie, Druckgrafik und der Malerei.
Zwischen 2008 – 2012 wurden Ellens Werke in über 30 Ausstellungen in Kanada und auch
international ausgestellt.
Ellen Scobie is a Vancouver artist whose process unites the traditional art forms of
photography, printmaking and painting. Ellen switched to studying art history in her
second year at the University of Victoria, eventually graduating with honours from the
University of Manitoba. After graduation, she set off for England where she studied
historical calligraphy and book design at the London School of Printing. The lure of the sun
drew her to Spain where she ran her own graphic design firm for a number of years. Back
on the west coast of Canada, working in marketing and communications, Ellen spent
hours editing and retouching photographs.
Since 2008, she has developed her signature style through experimentation with digital
tools. Each new artwork is composed of photographic fragments sourced from her digital
archive. These densely layered, digital mixed media works navigate the territory between
photography, printmaking and painting.
Between 2008 – 2012, Ellen’s work was exhibited in over 30 shows in Canada and
internationally.

Evelina Velkaité
Die in Litauen geborene Künstlerin Evelina Velkaité lebt und arbeitet heute in Basel und in
Essen. Von 2012 bis 2014 absolvierte Evelina den Master of Fine Arts an der Hochschule
für Gestaltung und Kunst in Basel. Sie erhielt das Stipendium der Rotary International und
gewann den Förderpreis DEW 21 (2012) und bekam auf der grossen Kunstausstellung
NRW 2014 in Düsseldorf den Preis für junge Künstler.
Die Bilder von Evelina lassen Landschaften sowie Innen- und Aussenräume erahnen. Im
künstlerischen Prozess reduziert sie die Vorlagen bis zur Unkenntlichkeit und verweigert
somit jegliche Lesbarkeit des Gewohnten.
Ihre scheinbar harmonischen Bildkompositionen wurden bereits in vielen Ausstellungen in
der Schweiz, Litauen und Deutschland gezeigt.
Evelina Velkaité was born Lithuania and now lives and works in Basel and in Essen. In
2014 Evelina graduated from the Master of Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Gestaltung
und Kunst in Basel. She received a scholarship from the Rotary Club, in 2012 she won the
“Förderpreis” of the DEW 21 and at the “Grossen Kunstausstellung NRW” in Düsseldorf
in 2014 she won the the price for “young artists”.
In the pictures of Evelina one can guess landcapes, as well as indoor and outdoor spaces.
During the artistic process, she reduces the original model beyond recognition and thus
denies any readability of the familiar.
Her seemingly harmonious visual compositions have already been showed in many
exhibitions all around Switzerland, Lithuania and Germany.

Felix Stern
Felix Stern ist gelernter Rechtsanwalt und war u. a. Geschäftsführer der Magnolia
Americas Inc. in New York. Seit 2012 ist er selbstständiger Künstler und hat in diesen
zwei Jahren bereits in der Cargo Bar in Basel, an der Grafik 13 in Zürich und in einer
Galerie in St. Petersburg/Russland ausstellen können. Ab Oktober werden seine Werke an
der „Kunst Zürich“ zu sehen sein.
Während seiner Tätigkeit in New York wurde er für die Serie „Stamps“ im National Postal
Museum inspiriert. Seither hat er über 3 Mio. Briefmarken erworben, nach Farben sortiert
und verschiedenste Techniken ausprobiert, um die Briefmarken neu in Szene zu setzen.
Seine Arbeit ist ein Tribut an die Briefmarke, welche er in seinen Kunstwerken in einen
neuen Kontext stellt.
Felix Stern worked as lawyer after his law studies and among other things worked as CEO
at Magnolia Americas, Inc. in New York. Since 2012 he’s working as an independent artist
and during these 2 years he could exhibit his artwork at the Cargo Bar in Basel at the
“Grafik 13” in Zurich and in a gallery in St. Petersburg/Russia. His pictures will be exhibit
at the “Kunst Zürich” as of October 2014.
He got inspired for his “stamps” series during his time in New York at the National Postal
Museum. Since then he acquired over 3 million stamps, sorted them by colors and tried
various techniques to set the stamps in a new scene.
His work is a tribute to stamps, cherishing the fragile object in a new context.

Florian Tenk
Florian Tenk wurde in München/Deutschland geboren. Schon immer hatte er den Drang
zu künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen, jedoch war dies nicht erste Wahl in seiner
beruflichen Laufbahn. Seit 2011 studiert er an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in
München. Er lebt und arbeitet in München und Berlin und sein Ziel ist es, zeitgenössische,
fotografische Kunst zu kreieren.
Im Fokus seiner Arbeit steht der Mensch. In seinen Arbeiten möchte er die Gefühle der
Menschen einfangen, ihre Bewegungen und ihre innere Schönheit. Seine Kunstwerke
sind ein Versuch zu zeigen, wie Menschen ihren Körper behandeln, ein Versuch, die
Sexualität und die sozial-kulturelle Identität eines Menschen zu zeigen. In diesem
Zusammenhang entstand die Serie „Never. Naked.“, eine Serie von Fotografien, die mit
Acryl übermalt wurden. Zwei Kunstwerke der Serie sind nun im Teufelhof ausgestellt und
zum ersten Mal sind damit Florians Werke in der Schweiz zu sehen.
Florian Tenk was born in Munich, Germany. He always had the urge to artistic
expressions, but it was not his first choice in his working career. Now he is studying at
the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich since 2011. He lives and works in Munich and Berlin
and his aim is to do contemporary art photography.
In his work he is mainly focussing on people. In his photographs he is catching their
feelings, their movements and their inner beauty. His artworks are often an attempt to
reveal how people handle their body, sexuality and social-cultural-identities. Within this
context the series “Never. Naked.” originated. “Never. Naked-“ is a series of photographs
that are painted over with acrylic. Two artworks of them are issued at the Teufelhof and
for the first time his artwork can be seen in Switzerland.

Fotini Hamidieli
Fotini Hamidieli wurde in Griechenland geboren und studierte Kunst in den USA. Heute
gibt sie Kunstunterricht und arbeitet mit der Central Public Library der Stadt
Veria/Griechenland zusammen. Sie organisiert verschiedene Veranstaltungen, hält
Vorträge und leitet Kunstprogramme, die an Kinder gerichtet sind. Sie arbeitet im
graphischen Bereich, kreiert Plakate, Broschüren und Zeitschriften, und hat auch schon
Kunstartikel geschrieben. Fotini stellt seit 1978 ihre Kunstwerke aus, dies in über 90
Gruppenausstellungen und über 40 Einzelausstellungen in Griechenland, Deutschland,
Italien, Spanien und weiteren Ländern.
Die weibliche Form ist der Grundstein in ihrer Arbeit. Sie neigt dazu, Themen zu Papier
oder auf die Leinwand zu bringen, mit denen sie zu „kämpfen“ hat, Themen, die um sie
herum passieren und in ihr stecken. Die weiblichen Formen, die in ihren Kunstwerken
erscheinen, stellen manchmal sie selbst dar.
Fotini Hamidieli was born in Greece and studied art in the U.S. She is involved in teaching
art lessons and collaborates with the Central Public Library of the city of Veria/Greece,
organizing various events, lectures and art programs directed to children. She does
graphic work designing posters, brochures and magazines and has written articles on art.
Fotini has been showing her work since 1978, participating in over 90 group shows in
Greece, Germany, Italy, Spain and several other countries. She has had fourteen one
woman shows.
The female form is basic in her work. She tends to put down on paper or on canvas things
she is ‘’fighting’’ with, dealing with what is happening around and inside her. The female
forms appearing in her artwork sometimes represent her.

Gabriel Salgado
Gabriel Salgado wurde im Dezember 1987 in Arlesheim/Schweiz geboren und studierte
bildende Künste an den Fachhochschulen Bern und Basel.
Zurzeit ist er dabei, sich selbst zu verwirklichen und dies mit seinem beruflichen
Werdegang zu verbinden. Auf diesem Weg möchte er den Menschen aller Gesellschafts-,
Bildungs- und Sozialschichten einen Bezug zur Kunst und Kultur ermöglichen.
Das Bild „Clouds“ ist ein Farbenspiel, welches aus dem Konstruktivismus und der
urbanen Kunst entstanden ist. Es ist ein Versuch, unterschiedliche Stilrichtungen zu
verbinden, und markiert den Beginn einer neuen Bilderserie.
Gabriel Salgado was born in December 1987 in Arlesheim/Switzerland and studied fine
arts at the “Fachhochschule” Bern and Basel.
Currently, he is fulfilling himself and tries to combine it with his professional career.
Within that path, he would like to allow people with all kind of social and cultural
backgrounds to establish a relationship to art and culture.
The artwork "Clouds" is a play of colors, which has its origin from the constructivism and
urban art. It is an attempt to combine different styles and the start of a new series of
paintings.

Mariana Carolina Wüthrich lebt und arbeitet in Basel und machte ihren BA in Fashion &
Design in Hamburg/Deutschland im Jahr 2012.
Inspiriert von der Ambivalenz zwischen Natur und Industrie, setzt sich die vielseitige
Künstlerin intensiv mit der Malerei und Illustration, bis hin zur Fotografie und Skulptur
auseinander.
Mariana Carolina hat ihr Atelier in der St. Alban-Vorstadt, Basel. Sie wurde im 2013
eingeladen, an der Messe Muba Frauen in der Kunst zum Thema „Kunst und Kommerz“
zu repräsentieren.

Marie-Sophie Buxbaum lebt und arbeitet in Wien/Österreich. Sie ist aktiv in den Bereichen
der bildenden Kunst, der Kunstvermittlung, der Modetheorie, sowie der kontextuellen
Gestaltung. Zudem arbeitet sie immer gerne bei sozialen Kunstprojekten mit, u. a. mit
Kindern, und bringt Kunst und Kunsthandwerk einander näher.
Kennzeichnend für Marie-Sophie Buxbaums künstlerische Arbeit ist die konsequente und
leidenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit dem Medium Siebdruck. Zum einen erreicht sie
ihre Images über Collagen mit Fremdmaterial, analog und digital; zum anderen über
eigene Fotografien, die sie wieder neu kombiniert. Text und Sprache sind ebenso wichtige
Elemente ihrer Arbeit, manchmal ist sie mehr Text als Bild.
Für Marie-Sophie Buxbaum war menschliches Verhalten schon immer ein Faszinosum, sie
versucht von jeher, Mensch und Welt zu verstehen, hinterfragt permanent, ist
wissbegierig, sehr kritisch, manchmal zynisch und sarkastisch-humorvoll, was sich auch in
ihren Arbeiten widerspiegelt.
Marie-Sophie Buxbaum lives and works in Vienna/Austria. She is active in the areas of fine
art, art education, fashion theory and contextual design. In addition, she always likes to
work in social art projects, among other things, convey art and craft to children.
The characteristic of Marie-Sophie Buxbaum's artistic work is the consistent and
passionated examination of screen printing. On the one hand she gets her images from
external material, analogue and digital; on the other hand from her own photographs,
which she is then combining again. Text and language are also important elements of her
artwork, sometimes her images are even more text than image.
Marie-Sophie was always fascinated by human behavior. She always tries to understand
people and the world, questioning constantly, is inquisitive, very critical, sometimes
cynical and humorously sarcastic, which is all reflected in her work.

Marta Giselbrecht
Marta Giselbrecht ist in Gdańsk im Norden von Polen geboren und in der Schweiz
aufgewachsen. Die Ausbildung zur Grafikerin hat sie in Zürich absolviert, doch auch
Illustrationen und alles, was mit Gestaltung zu tun hat, fasziniert sie enorm.
Da sie sehr gerne in verschiedenen Medien arbeitet, wie zum Beispiel mit dem Computer,
mit Acryl oder mit dem Kugelschreiber, nutzt Marta die Mischtechnik, um Collagen zu
kreieren. Für sie ist alles Kunst, was ihr Herz höher schlagen lässt. Ob das Illustrationen,
Filme, Gemälde oder Bleistiftskizzen sind, spielt keine Rolle.
Die Philosophie ist Martas zweite Leidenschaft. Ihre Bilder sollen die Betrachter zum
Denken anregen und vielleicht die Menschen animieren, die Welt einmal anders zu sehen.
Marta Giselbrecht is born in Gdansk in the Northern part of Poland and grew up in
Switzerland. She completed her graphic design education in Zurich. She is fascinated by
illustrations and everything that has to do with design.
She likes to work in various medias, such as the computer, acrylic or ball pen. Marta uses
mixed media to create collages. According to her, when it makes your heart beat faster, it
is art, irrelevant what kind of art it is, photographs, films, paintings or pencil sketches.
The philosophy is Marta's second passion. With her art, she wants to provoke people to
think about and animate to see the world from a different angle.

Stjepko Mamic
Stjepko Mamic ist Maler und Schiffskapitän und wurde in Dubrovnik/Kroatien geboren,
einer alten Stadt voller Kunst und umgeben von Meer. Seit seiner frühen Kindheit wurde
er inspiriert und motiviert, sich als Maler zu beweisen. Seine Bilder sind farbenreich und
mit Spachtel in starken Strichen aufgetragen, voller Licht und positiver Energie.
Nach dreissig Jahren Dienst auf See, kehrte er in den Heimathafen zurück, um dort als
Vollzeit-Künstler zu arbeiten. Seine Werke waren sowohl in Gruppen- wie auch
Einzelausstellungen in seinem Land und im Ausland zu sehen, können aber auch in
Privatsammlungen auf der ganzen Welt gefunden werden.
Stjepko Mamic, both a painter and ship captain was born in Dubrovnik/Croatia. An ancient
city full of art and surrounded with sea. From his early childhood he was inspired and
motivated to express himself as painter. His paintings are colourful and created with a
palette knife in strong strokes, full of light and positive energy.
After thirty years of sea service, he returned to homeport and continues to work as a full
time artist. Having both, group and individual exhibitions in his country and abroad, his
artworks can be found in private collections all over the world.

Bucht in Australien oder in ihrem lila Studio im Hinterhof mit Farbe um sich wirft, kann
man Tracy mit zwei grossen Koffern zankend vorfinden, im Versuch, an Bord der BART in
San Francisco zu kommen, um an einer Kunst-Veranstaltung zu lehren, oder in einem
Kreis sitzend in St. Pete Beach Florida, den Frauen und ihren kreativen Sehnsüchten
zuhörend.
Tracy ist eine Inspiration, eine Anstifterin, produktive Malerin, Singer/Songwriter und
Liebhaberin der geschriebenen Worte, eine verliebte Reisende. Sie saugt alles auf, was
schön ist. Ihre Werke sind lebendig und mit Freude erfüllt, inspiriert sowohl von der
Familienreise nach Mexiko als auch von der Schönheit des Alltags. Seit 2000 hatte Tracy
14 erfolgreiche Solo-Ausstellungen. Ihre Werke sind in Sammlungen in Australien und
Übersee zu finden.
When she is not hanging out with her family in their artsy adobe home in a small village
on the shores of Jervis Bay, Australia, or throwing paint around in her little purple studio in
their backyard, you may find her wrangling with two large suitcases attempting to board
the BART in San Francisco “en route” to teach at an art retreat or sitting in a circle on St
Pete Beach Florida listening intently as women share their stories of creative longing.
Tracy is an inspiration instigator, prolific painter, singer/songwriter and lover of the written
word, smitten traveller and soaker up of all that is beauty-full. Her works are vibrant and
filled with joy, inspired both by family travels in Mexico and the beauty of everyday life.
Since 2000 Tracy has held 14 successful solo exhibitions and her works are held in

Yota Tsotra
Yota Tsotra wurde in Griechenland geboren lebt und arbeitet heute in Basel. Sie arbeitet
interdisziplinär zwischen Kunst und Wissenschaft. Besonders interessieren die Künstlerin
die Verbindungen zwischen den Atomen, Komponenten und Wesen, die Energie
benötigen, um dann diese Verbindungen zu brechen und das Potenzial nach dem
Auseinanderbrechen zu untersuchen.
2014 hat Yota Tsotra eine neue Reihe von Arbeiten begonnen, die sich, wie der Titel der
Serie „Repair“ verrät, mit dem Prozess der Reparatur befasst: Bruchstücke aus
verschiedenen Ländern, die die Künstlerin auf ihren Reisen sammelt, werden vorerst nach
Material, Grösse und Fundort geordnet, bis sie in einem zweiten Durchgang auf
unterschiedliche Weise zusammengefügt bzw. repariert werden.
Yota Tsotra was born in Greece and now lives and works in Basel. She works
interdisciplinary between art and science. She uses a variety of media - painting, drawing,
objects, installations, video and sound - to explore the overall concept of life, the
connections between the atoms, components and beings, the energy required to break
these relationships and the potential of a new perspective after the breakage.
Research is an important part of her work, while the transactional practice of art, science
and philosophy is her main concern and focus.
