European Athletics
The Braunschweig 2014 European Athletics Team
Championships are just around the corner – and as we
approach the fifth edition of the event I am pleased to say it is
becoming stronger and stronger.
We enjoyed an excellent European Athletics Team
Championships in Gateshead in 2013 and I am very confident
we will see an exceptional event in Braunschweig, with the
highest-level conditions for athletes, large crowds, excellent
performances and strong television and media coverage.
There is no doubt that the European Athletics Team
Championships continue to be the premier team athletics
event in the world. From when the event changed from the
European Cup, it has proven to be an extremely exciting proposition for spectators, TV viewers, media and athletes alike.
On behalf of European Athletics, I would like to thank the
Braunschweig Local Organising Committee and the German
Athletics Federation for all their hard work so far on the
organisation of the championships. We are all looking forward
to another outstanding athletics event in June 2014.

2.Message from
the City of
Braunschweig
I am very pleased that Braunschweig is the venue for the 2014
European Athletics Team Championships. To host these championships in our city was our big goal. And we are proud that
we, as a city rich in sports tradition, have achieved this.
We would like to thank the council of the European
Athletics (EA) that they encouraged us, after we were not
chosen in 2011, to stand again as a candidate and that they
then chose us. Along with Dr. Clemens Prokop, the President
of the German Athletics Association, I was part of the delegation that presented Braunschweig as the German candidate
city in Bucharest, Romania, two years ago. After the announcement of the very gratifying results, the work for this important
European competition started immediately. I would like to
thank everyone who has contributed.
In the name of all citizens of Braunschweig I would like to
warmly welcome all participants, functionaries, and spectators
to this top-class international sports event and would like to
wish success to all participants of the twelve competing
countries.
We are presenting ourselves across Europe as the cosmopolitan and modern center of the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg region.
The expectations that the European Athletics Association
have placed on Braunschweig as venue are high after the successful previous Team Championships held in Leiria, Portugal,
in Bergen, Norway, in Stockholm, Sweden, and in Gateshead,
England. Braunschweig will fulfill them with its sports-enthusiastic spectators and the special stadium atmosphere. I am
sure of this.

Eintracht Stadium offers a fitting setting for these European
Team Championships. The new expansion of the stadium to a
multifunctional stadium over the past years did not meet with
unanimous approval in the city. However, because of events
such as the Athletics Team Championships, the city council
decided against converting the Eintracht Stadium into a pure
football stadium.
Luckily, because today we can draw a satisfactory conclusion
since the cinder track around the pitch did not hurt the “passionate” atmosphere during football matches but it offers us
the possibility to be a good host to Europe’s best track and
field athletes and to see them jumping, throwing and running
in our city. As a big sports fan I am looking forward to the fantastic athletics weekend and the wonderful international flair
in our city.

3. Message from
German Athletics
Federation
The German Athletics Federation is delighted to welcome
Europe‘s twelve leading athletics nations to the European
Athletics Team Championship in Braunschweig. This event
is one of the most important championships of the continent and, only a few weeks before the European Athletics
Championships in Zürich, another highlight of European
Athletics in this year.
For the competing athletes the participation is a great
challenge because they do not fight for themselves but for
every point of their national team score.
The German Athletics Federation and the town of
Braunschweig are proud to have been chosen to host this
event. Between 1965 and 2007 the former Super League of
the European Cup took place in Germany five times. Every
time it was a big success with outstanding results and a
fantastic crowd.
I am sure that this year’s European Athletics Team
Championships will bring exciting and high-class competitions
to a fully packed stadium and that the spectators will
remember this weekend in Braunschweig for many years.

4. General Information
The history of the European Athletics Team Championships is a young one.
Braunschweig public will witness the fifth edition of this fairly new competition only
since the inaugural 2009 event in Leiria/Portugal, where the German team dominated.
Bergen/NOR, Stockholm/SWE and Gateshead/GBR were the other host cities
to the spectacular competitions in the Super League meetings of the twelve best
ranked member federations teams. The league system of Super, First, Second and
Third League includes promotion and relegation in between the leagues. And, this
can be regarded as a milestone, the results of men and women in the 20 competitions are then combined. As in the Super League, twelve teams compete in the First
League, eight teams in the Second League and the remaining teams in the Third
League. The European Athletics Team Championships are an annual event but not
staged in the years of the Summer Olympic Games.
The European Athletics Team Championships‘ predecessor was the European Cup,
which was staged for the first time in 1965 in Stuttgart (men) and Kassel (women)
and for the last time in Annecy/FRA in 2008 with its 29th edition. In its final format, the European Cup was also staged in different leagues, the top league named
the Super League and contained eight male and eight female teams. The male and
female teams were separate teams, which meant that the female team of one country could get relegated while their male counterpart would stay in the Super League
as long as they had enough points. Below the Super League were the First and
Second Leagues, which contained other European countries that did not qualify for
the finals.
European Athletics is the governing body of athletics on the continent. The
President and three Vice Presidents plus the Director General (ex officio) form
the Executive Board of the Council, the 13 other members which are elected by
the representatives of all member federations (one member – one vote) at the
European Athletics Congress each year preceding the year of the Summer Olympic
Games. The President of athletics world governing body IAAF also is an ex officio
member of the European Athletics Council.

The European Athletics President, Hansjörg Wirz, is Swiss and is in his fourth and
final term as President. The former 400m hurdler, multiple Swiss Champion, Swiss
Record Holder, Olympian and Member of the IAAF Council was first elected
in 1999. Before, the father of two children from Schaffhausen served European
Athletics as its Treasurer.
Since 2004, the European Athletics Headquarter with 18 staff is based in Lausanne/
Switzerland. Headed by the Director General, the team covers the fields of
Event Operations, Competition, Communications, Finances & Administration and
Development.
Originally, in 1932, the then International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF)
created a special committee to explore the possibility of organising a European
Championships in Athletics. In 1933, a permanent European Committee was
appointed. One year later, the inaugural
European Athletics Championships was staged in Torino/Italy.
Since 1966, exclusively the IAAF‘s European Member Federations appointed
the Committee members. This Committee expanded the European competition programme by adding the European Cup (first staged in 1965) and then the
European Indoor Games (first staged in 1966), which later became the European
Athletics Indoor Championships. It was in Bucharest on 1 November 1969 only,
that the Association of the European Members of the IAAF was formed from the
Committee.
The role of European Athletics includes the further development of the European
competition programme and several tasks in servicing the Member Federations.
A new Constitution, reflecting various changes to the organisational structure and
working practices, was adopted by an Extraordinary European Athletic Association
Congress on 15 October 2005.
4.2. The City of Braunschweig
Braunschweig, with its population of around 250,000, is the largest city
between Hanover and Berlin. It is an attractive city for shopping, has

lively cultural scene and is the centre of Europe’s most concentrated research
> aregion.
A modern urban lifestyle can be experienced in this pulsing shopping city.
Everything is easy to get to, which is characteristic of a big city, while the wonderful
parks and nature offer peace, quiet and balance along the banks of the Oker river.
Centre of Europe‘s largest scientific research area
Braunschweig is the vivid, future oriented and ambitious metropolis in the car
manufacturing area Braunschweig-Wolfsburg, which is clearly affected by world
famous enterprise Volkswagen. Internationally oriented, the metropolitan area gives
home to about a million people and is the frontrunner to all European research centres, focussed on aviation and aerospace together with mobility services. In 2007,
Braunschweig was rewarded the „City of Science“.
Braunschweig was founded in the 9th century already. It was Duke Henry the Lion
who made the township flourish in the 12th century. His son Otto IV. as the later
Emperor of the then German empire provided international recognition to the city.
Even today the numerous traditional buildings at Burgplatz, Magniviertel or Old
Market mirror the former importance and the special charisma of these and later
days. The old residence of the Braunschweig Dukes, damaged and demolished during the war, was reconstructed in 2007.
Together with the affiliated mall, nowadays it is centre again to shopping city no. 1
in Lower Saxony and combines traditional and modern elements: owner-run shops,
small boutiques and attractive chain stores offer a comprehensive list of choices.
Light-flooded indoor malls and modern stores fill the gaps between the historic
buildings in the pedestrian zone. The appealing shopping opportunities and a wide
range of places to eat invite you to stroll through the city streets. In the summer,
the sun and the Lion City can be enjoyed from the seats outside the inviting cafés,
bars and restaurants, while one of the most spectacular Christmas Markets in
northern Germany is simply a must during the festive season.
Also thanks to the University of Technology and the University of Fine Arts,
Braunschweig displays as a young city with a high recreational value and quality of
life. Up and coming, more and more congresses and conventions are being staged
in the city. Diversified cultural events attract the public. Places to see include The
Braunschweig State Theatre but also Wolfsburg‘s Museum of Arts with its exhibi-

tions of contemporary arts and the World Cultural Heritage Rammelsberg with a
mine open to visitors in nearby Goslar.
The people of Braunschweig are passionate about sports – both as sportsmen
and women and as fans. Besides the premier league (Bundesliga) football team
Eintracht Braunschweig, which enjoys an absolute cult status, sporting highlights
also include Braunschweig’s “Tanz-Sport-Club”, which has won several world championships in formation dancing; the New Yorker Lions American football team and
the New Yorker Phantoms premier league basketball team. Braunschweig regularly hosts national and international championships in various disciplines. One of
Braunschweig’s favourite sports is the “Schoduvel” - the longest carnival parade in
northern Germany with a tradition that goes back over 700 years.
4.3. The Eintracht Stadium
The Eintracht Stadium is home of the soccer team “Eintracht Braunschweig” and
American football team “Braunschweig Lions”. It’s a modern venue with a long tradition, many athletics competitions and open-air-events take place in here.
During the 2010/2011 season, the northern tribune was modified. For the first time
in its history the stadium was completely roofed. Furthermore the new grandstand
was finalised in 2013. So the Eintracht Stadium has a capacity of 25,540 spectators.
Eintracht Stadium is the only category A athletics stadium in Lower Saxony, which
is authorised for international athletics championships. So the German Athletics
Championships 2010 took place in Braunschweig.
In spite of its long lasting tradition, Braunschweig‘s Eintracht (Harmony) Stadium
offers state-of-the-art facilities. During the last few years, the City Council modernised and reconstructed the venue in different stages to make it a true jewellery box.
In 2013 only, the last construction phase was finalised. While many comparable
stadiums are transferred into just football arenas, Braunschweig politicians
believe in multi-functional utility and kept the track.
In the early 1920s, at the height of the world‘s economic crisis, the Stadium
was set up out of the city limits. A wealthy former Braunschweig citizen

living in the USA cared for the financing of the building, which was to become the home
of football club Eintracht Braunschweig, today again playing in the Bundesliga and a real
cultic association to its many supporters. The Stadium was upgraded several times and
could hold up to 38,000 spectators.
It was packed, of course, when Eintracht Braunschweig won the German Football
Championship in 1967.
In the course of its modernisation and to offer more comfort, the capacity was reduced
to about 24,500. Today, the Stadium is situated close to the city centre and the Volkswagen factories. The Braunschweig Lions, German Champion in American Football, are
also residing here. And three times already in the last 14 years, the German Athletics
Championships were staged in the Stadium. The venue is famous for the enthusiastic
expert crowds who create the special atmosphere supporting the athletes to perform
at their best.

The official airport is Hannover airport which is situated 55 km from the Eintracht
Stadium.

Upon arrival at Hannover airport the media representatives are requested to contact
the Welcome Desk which is situated in the arrival area at the airport and will be open
presumably from Wednesday 18 June at 09:00 (depending on travel schedules).
After collecting luggage, media representatives will be escorted to the official buses
and taken to their hotel or the Main Accreditation Centre at the Stadium in approximately 45 minutes from the airport.
By Train
There will be no Welcome Desk at the main railway station in Braunschweig. Media
representatives arriving by train will be met by LOC representatives and taken to their
hotel, according to the arrival times given, if they have booked official accommodation.
By Road
Media representatives arriving by road are kindly asked to go directly to their hotel or
to the Main Accreditation Centre at the stadium.
Visa Requirements
From the 12 participating federations, citizens of the following countries require
visas to enter Germany:

A LOC Transportation and Information Desk will be located in the lobby of each
official hotel with qualified personnel offering relevant information about all
aspects of the European Athletics Team Championships 2014.

6.3. Bus Shuttle Services
A bus shuttle service is organised from the official media hotels to the stadium
and back as well as to the location of the Official Press Conference
(Dornse – Old City Hall) and the Opening Ceremony.

According to departures times given to the Transportation and Information
Desk at the hotels, the LOC will provide bus transportation to Hannover airport.

The accessible zones depending on the respective accreditation are identified on
the accreditation card.
The accreditation process is handled online through the ARENA event management
system.
The deadline to book accommodation in the official media hotels is 09 May 2014.

close proximity to the Media Tribune and the Mixed Zone,
• Media Tribune, located in the East Stand of the stadium right above the finish
line,
• Mixed Zone, just a few steps from the Media Tribune, located between the finish
line and the athletes' Post Event Area.
Broadcast rights holders (TV and Radio) will receive a unique username and password which they can use to access the media accreditation system.
The Closing Press Conference will be staged in the Media Centre immediately after
the Closing Ceremony.

The Official Media Hotels are situated in Braunschweig's city centre:
After having received confirmation of the application, accreditation cards can be
collected at the Main Accreditation Centre at the Eintracht Stadium (West Stand)
upon arrival and a proof of identity (ID/passport). No photo is required for this
event.

In case of the loss of your accreditation card please contact the Main Accreditation
Centre at the Eintracht Stadium (West Stand) immediately. Any lost or damaged
accreditation cards should be reported to LOC. Duplicate cards can be obtained
where proof of identity can be established.

6.6.2. Accommodation
When registering, if you submit an accommodation request an email will follow to
confirm the status of your request.
In case you do not request accommodation straight away, please re-log into ARENA
to do so if necessary, with the credentials that are sent in a separate e-mail.
The deadline to submit your accommodation request is 09 May 2014.
6.6.3. Cancellation Policy
The Media Centre offers working space for approx. 80 media representatives (written press and photographers), each seat is equipped with LAN internet connectivity
as well as power supply. Wi-Fi will also be available in the MPC.
Light dishes as well as biscuits/cake will be available on both competition days.
Water, coffee, tea will be available throughout the opening hours.
All information, start and result lists will be provided in Pigeon Holes in the Media
Centre.

6.12.2. Photographers' Briefing
The LOC's Mixed Zone Team will care for smoothly running organisation.
The Photographers' Briefing will take place on Saturday 21 June at 10:00, at the
Media Centre. As the bibs will be distributed on this occasion, participation in this
Briefing is mandatory. Before receiving a bib, photographers will have to sign a
Code of Conduct as an agreement on certain rules.
6.10. Flash Quotes
6.12.3. Infield Photographers
Flash Quotes are collected by the LOC's Flash Quotes Team and will be available
by the CIS terminal.
Flash Quotes will also be printed and copied and distributed to the Media Tribune
and to the Pigeon Holes in the Media Centre.
A maximum number of 12 photographers, to be identified by the colour of their
bibs, is allowed to the infield.
The Photo Chief will decide on the access to the infield.
Athletes have the obligation to leave the stadium through the Mixed Zone but are
free to decide if they want to talk to the media or not.
6.11. Press Conference
The official pre-event press conference of European Athletics and the LOC will
be staged on Friday 20 June at 12:00 in the Former Mayor's Room at the historic
Dornse (Old City Hall) in the City Centre.
Transportation from/to the Media Hotels and from/to the Stadium will be provided.
A post-event press conference will be staged at the Media Centre on Sunday 22
June, immediately after the Closing Ceremony.
6.12. Photographers

Power supply and internet connectivity will be provided to the infield in the corner
close to the finish line.
6.12.4. Outfield Photographers
Outfield Photographers can work from all empty spectator seats all around the
stadium without obstructing the sight of other spectators. The seat must be cleared
upon arrival of the ticket holder.
A head-on position is reserved for a limited number of photographers. The access
will be arranged on a first come – first served basis.
Further key positions in the tribune will be determined and can be used on a
first come – first served basis. From most of these positions, photographers
must work seated without affecting the sight of spectators.

On both competition days, due to the tight schedule, remote cameras must be set
up at least one hour prior to the start of the competition upon confirmation of the

European Athletics Team
Championships
OMEGA looks forward to bringing its unparalleled sports timekeeping expertise to
Braunschweig for the European Athletics Team Championships.
OMEGA has been involved in athletics timekeeping for more than 80 years. In 1932,
the International Olympic Committee (IOC) asked the firm to supply all sports timing devices for use at the Olympic Games to be held that year in Los Angeles. The
company delivered 30 OMEGA chronographs, which were used to ensure precise
timekeeping and reliable results from all the competitions. OMEGA has continued
to develop and deliver state-of-the-art sports timing and measurement systems
ever since, and at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, it assumed the Official
Timekeeper role for the 26th time. Preparations are well underway for the Rio 2016
Olympic Games.
Every year, OMEGA’s experts deploy teams of timekeeping professionals to sporting events around the world, armed with a veritable arsenal of advanced sports
timekeeping and measurement equipment. Their innovative systems include starting
blocks and false-start detection systems and the latest photo-finish cameras for the
sprints and middle-distance events, as well as height and distance measurement
devices for field disciplines.
Each event requires precisely tuned devices and systems, including electronic start
systems, false start detectors, photoelectric cells and photofinish cameras. The
OMEGA Scan’O’Vision camera provides more than 2000 high-definition images of

The European Athletics Team Championships comprises one single competition where men’s and women’s teams represent as a single team the respective
European Athletics Member Federation. Each team shall consist of one athlete in
each event (Men and Women), except relays.
9.2. Four Leagues
The participating teams shall be divided into a Super League (comprising 12 or,
exceptionally, 13 teams), a First League (comprising 12 teams), a Second League
(comprising 8 teams), a Third League (comprising the remaining teams). The Super
League, the First League, the Second League and the Third League shall each
be regarded as a separate match and scored accordingly.
The winner of each individual event and each relay in each match shall score as
many points as there are teams competing in the respective League, the second will score one fewer, and so on. Athletes or relay teams with no
valid performance, disqualified or not finishing shall not score.

After the conclusion of each year’s European Athletics Team Championships, teams
shall be promoted or relegated as follows:
In the vertical jumps the IAAF rule 181.2 shall be respected.

• The 2 (two) first classified teams of the Second League shall be promoted to
the First League.
• The lowest 2 (two) or, exceptionally, 3 (three) teams of the Second League shall
be relegated to the Third League.
• The 2 (two) first classified teams of the Third League shall be promoted to the
Second League.
• If the team of the host European Athletics Member Federation is not qualified
to participate in the Super League, it shall be included in the Super League as a
thirteens team.
9.4. Special Rules and Regulations
All field events, except vertical jumps, will be as follows:
• T
here will be a maximum of four trials in each event. All participating athletes
will have three qualification trials (1st, 2nd and 3rd trial);
• The best 4 athletes after the 3 qualification rounds will compete in the Final
(4th round).

• E
ach competitor is limited to a maximum of 4 (four) fouls throughout the whole
field event. After the fourth foul he/she may not jump further unless he/she
has won the competition.
• The winner of the competition is allowed to continue according to IAAF Rule
181.2.
• The winner will be allowed to continue at the height he/she was not successful.
• IAAF Rule 181.8 will apply for placings.
• R
aces up to 400m inclusively and relays will be staged in two heats of 6 athletes each. The distribution of athletes per heat will be as follows:
• F
or the races up to 400m inclusively the heats are being arranged by considering as much information as possible about the performances of all athletes
and the heats drawn so that, normally, the best performers compete in the
same heat. In principle the distribution will be based on the athletes’ season
best performances. Previous year’s season best, personal best performance
and medals achieved at major events can be also considered by the Technical
Delegate for the purpose of the distribution per heats.
• The final distribution is under the discretion of the Technical Delegate.
• F
or the 4x100m and 4x400m relays the teams’ distribution per heat will
be according to the teams scoring standings 1 (one) hour before the scheduled time for each event.

11. Social Media Functions
• T
he best scored teams will compete in the same heat which shall be the last
event of the session of track events.
All media representatives are invited to the Closing Banquet & Party at the
Volkswagen Halle on Sunday night, starting at 20:00. Accreditation card shall be
presented at the entrance.
• T
he results of the two heats are amalgamated, with the athletes’ times determining their placings. In case of a tie between athletes in the different heats
for races up to 400m inclusively and relays the photo finish judge shall consider
the actual times to the 1/1000th of a second.
• If the tie cannot be broken the attributable points shall be divided equally
between them.
On Friday night, a public viewing of the FIFA World Cup, will be staged at the
Volkswagen Halle.
12. Security
10. Ceremonies
Instructions given by the LOC, the security personnel or the police must be
followed in all areas as well as during transportation.
10.1. Opening Ceremony
The opening of the European Athletics Team Championships will take place at the
start and finish area of the Braunschweig Night Run. This traditional event with
more than 12,000 participants of all ages is staged on Friday 20 June, for its 28th
edition. Hansjörg Wirz, President of European Athletics, will fire the starting gun for
the young kids race followed by some short speeches before Dr. Gert Hoffmann will
open the European Athletics Team Championships 2014.
10.2. Victory Ceremony
The Victory Ceremony will take place after the last race in the stadium and be followed by the Closing Ceremony.

13. Medical
The medical service will provide medical information and assistance to teams,
organisation personnel, and honorary guests as well as, during the competition, to
the spectators in the stadium.
There is a team of four ambulance men on the infield, supervised by a doctor and
marked with red crosses.
In case of emergency, please contact the nearest medical first aid station or
call the 24/7 Medical Emergency number 112.

14. School Campaign
In the course of preparing the event, Braunschweig primary schools and pupils will
participate in a campaign including the sport of athletics and the cultural background of the participating nations.
Wearing T-shirts in the colors of the twelve teams, 4th grade pupils will compete on
a special day „Athletics in Action“ in basic disciplines of athletics.
Pupils at twelve primary schools will learn about the cultural and sociological background of the participating nations. They will reproduce their new knowledge in an
artistic way. The results will be displayed in the Market Street in front of the stadium during the event days and the public will be asked to value them.

The Braunschweig 2014 European Athletics Team
Championships are just around the corner – and as we
approach the fifth edition of the event I am pleased to
say it is becoming stronger and stronger.
We enjoyed an excellent European Athletics Team
Championships in Gateshead in 2013 and I am very confident
we will see an exceptional event in Braunschweig, with the
highest-level conditions for athletes, large crowds, excellent
performances and strong television and media coverage.
There is no doubt that the European Athletics Team
Championships continue to be the premier team athletics
event in the world. From when the event changed from the
European Cup, it has proven to be an extremely exciting
proposition for spectators, TV viewers, media and
athletes alike.
On behalf of European Athletics, I would like to thank the
Braunschweig Local Organising Committee and the German
Athletics Federation for all their hard work so far on the
organisation of the championships. We are all looking forward
to another outstanding athletics event in June 2014.

Braunschweig
Ich freue mich sehr, dass Braunschweig Austragungsort
der Leichtathletik-Europameisterschaft 2014 für Nationalmannschaften ist. Diese Titelkämpfe in unserer Stadt zu
haben, war unser großes Ziel. Und wir sind stolz darauf, dass
wir das als traditionsreiche Sportstadt erreicht haben.
Dem Council des Europäischen Leichtathletik-Verbandes
(EAA) gebührt unser Dank dafür, dass es uns zu einer erneuten Kandidatur nach der Nicht-Berücksichtigung 2011 ermutigt
hat und uns dann auch den Zuschlag gab. Ich selbst gehörte
neben Dr. Clemens Prokop, dem Präsidenten des Deutschen
Leichtathletik-Verbandes, vor zwei Jahren der deutschen
Delegation an, die Braunschweig als deutsche Bewerberstadt
im rumänischen Bukarest vorstellte.
Nach Bekanntgabe des für uns so erfreulichen Resultats hat
die Arbeit für diesen europaweit bedeutenden Wettkampf
direkt begonnen. Ich danke all jenen, die daran mitgewirkt
haben.
Im Namen aller Bürgerinnen und Bürger begrüße ich alle
Teilnehmer, Funktionäre und Zuschauer sehr herzlich zu dieser
hochkarätigen internationalen Sportveranstaltung und wünsche allen Aktiven der antretenden zwölf Nationen viel Erfolg.
Wir präsentieren uns europaweit als weltoffenes und modernes Zentrum der Region Braunschweig-Wolfsburg. Die
Erwartungen des europäischen Leichtathletik-Verbandes an
den Austragungsort Braunschweig sind nach den gelungenen
vorherigen Mannschafts-Titelkämpfen in Leiria (Portugal),
Bergen (Norwegen), Stockholm (Schweden) und Gateshead
(England) groß. Braunschweig wird sie mit seinem sportbegeisterten Publikum und der besonderen Stadion-Atmosphäre
erfüllen. Da bin ich mir sehr sicher.

Das Eintracht-Stadion bietet einen würdigen Rahmen für
diese Europameisterschaften der Nationalmannschaften.
Der erneute Ausbau des Stadions in den vergangenen
Jahren als multifunktionale Arena stieß nicht bei allen in der
Stadt auf pure Zustimmung. Der Rat der Stadt hat sich aber
gerade wegen Veranstaltungen wie diesen LeichtathletikEuropameisterschaften gegen die Umwandlung des EintrachtStadions in eine reine Fußball-Arena entschieden.
Zum Glück – denn heute ziehen wir zufrieden Bilanz, denn der
„heißen“ Atmosphäre hat die Laufbahn um das Spielfeld beim
Fußball nicht geschadet, aber sie bietet uns die Möglichkeit,
guter Gastgeber für Europas beste Leichtathleten sein zu können und sie in unserer Stadt springen, werfen und laufen zu
sehen. Als großer Sportfan freue ich mich auf das fantastische
Leichtathletik-Wochenende und das wunderbare internationales Flair in unserer Stadt.

Deutschen Leichtathletik-Verbandes
Der Deutsche Leichtathletik-Verband heißt die zwölf führenden Leichtathletik-Nationen Europas zur Europameisterschaft
der Nationalmannschaften in Braunschweig willkommen. Die
Team-EM ist einer der wichtigsten Titelkämpfe des Kontinents
und wenige Wochen vor den Europameisterschaften in Zürich
ein weiteres Großereignis der europäischen Leichtathletik in
diesem Jahr.
Für die Athleten ist die Teilnahme an diesem Wettbewerb eine
besondere Herausforderung, weil sie hier nicht für sich, sondern um jeden Punkt in der Gesamtwertung und damit für ihre
Mannschaft kämpfen.
Der Deutsche Leichtathletik-Verband und die Stadt
Braunschweig sind stolz, dass sie als Ausrichter dieses
Wettkampfs ausgewählt wurden. Zwischen 1965 und 2007
fand der frühere Superliga-Wettkampf des Europacups fünfmal in Deutschland statt. Jede Austragung war ein großer
Erfolg mit herausragenden Ergebnissen und einem begeisterten Publikum.
Ich bin überzeugt, dass die diesjährige Team-EM spannende und erstklassige Wettkämpfe in einem vollen Stadion
bringen wird und sich die Zuschauer noch lange an dieses
Wochenende in Braunschweig erinnern werden.

4. Allgemeines
Die Geschichte der Team-Europameisterschaft ist noch jung. Das Braunschweiger
Publikum wird erst die fünfte Auflage dieses neuen Wettbewerbsformates seit der
Einführung 2009 im portugiesischen Leiria erleben – wo die deutsche Mannschaft
siegte.
Präsident Hansjörg Wirz ist Schweizer und absolviert seine vierte und letzte
Amtszeit. Der frühere 400m-Läufer, mehrfacher Schweizer Meister, Schweizer
Rekordhalter, Olympia-Teilnehmer und Mitglied des IAAF Council, wurde 1999
erstmals gewählt. Zuvor diente der zweifache Familienvater European Athletics als
Schatzmeister.
Bergen in Norwegen, Schwedens Hauptstadt Stockholm, und das nordenglische
Gateshead waren die übrigen Ausrichter der spektakulären Wettkämpfe der Super
League, in der die zwölf besten Nationalmannschaften des Kontinents aufeinander
treffen. Nicht nur, dass zum ersten Mal die Resultate von Männern und Frauen in
jeweils 20 Disziplinen gemeinsam gewertet werden, die Staffelung in Super League,
Erste, Zweite und Dritte Liga beinhaltet dazu Auf- und Abstieg mit besonderem
Spannungsmoment. Wie in der Super League treten auch in der First League
zwölf Teams an, acht Mannschaften bilden die Second League und alle übrigen
Mannschaften die Third League. Die Team-EM wird jährlich ausgetragen, außer in
den Jahren Olympischer Sommerspiele.
Vorläufer der Team-Europameisterschaft war der Europacup, der zum ersten Mal
1965 in Stuttgart (Männer) und Kassel (Frauen) ausgetragen und zum 29sten und
letzten Mal 2008 im französischen Annecy veranstaltet wurde. Am Ende wurde
auch schon der Europacup in verschiedenen Ligen ausgetragen. Die höchste Klasse
hieß ebenfalls schon Super League und bestand aus acht Männer- und acht FrauenTeams, die allerdings unabhängig voneinander gewertet wurden. Damals konnte also
z.B. eine Mannschaft der Frauen absteigen, während die Männer des betreffenden
Verbandes die Klasse hielten. Alle anderen Mannschaften der Mitgliedsverbände
der Europäischen Dachorganisation EA, die sich nicht für die Finals qualifiziert hatten, bildeten die Erste und Zweite Liga.
European Athletics ist die Dachorganisation der kontinentalen Leichtathletik.
Der Präsident, drei Vize-Präsidenten und der Generaldirektor (ex officio) bilden das Exekutivkomitee des Council, dessen 13 weitere Mitglieder von den
Vertretern aller Mitgliedsverbände (ein Land – eine Stimme) auf dem Kongress der
European Athletics gewählt werden. Der Kongress findet stets in den Olympischen
Sommerspielen vorangehenden Jahren statt. Auch der Präsident des LeichtathletikWeltverbandes IAAF ist ein ex officio-Mitglied des EA Council.

Seit 2004 befindet sich der Hauptsitz der European Athletics mit 18 Beschäftigten
im schweizerischen Lausanne. Unter der Leitung des Generaldirektors kümmern sich die Mitarbeiter um die Veranstaltungs-Organisation, Wettkämpfe,
Kommunikation, Finanzen & Verwaltung sowie die Weiterentwicklung.
Ursprünglich hatte 1932 die damalige Internationale Amateur-LeichtathletikFöderation (IAAF) ein eigenes Komitee gegründet, um die Chancen einer
Leichtathletik-Europameisterschaft auszuloten. Ein Jahr darauf wurde dauerhaft
ein Europäisches Leichtathletik-Komitee gegründet. Wieder ein Jahr später fanden
die ersten Europameisterschaften in Turin/Italien statt.
Seit 1966 wählten ausschließlich die europäischen IAAF-Mitgliedsverbände die
Komitee-Mitglieder. Das Komitee weitete das Wettkampfprogramm mit dem
Europacup (seit 1965) und dann den Europäischen Hallen-Spielen (seit 1966) – den
späteren Hallen-Europameisterschaften – weiter aus. Am 1. November 1969 entstand in Bukarest aus dem Komitee die Vereinigung der Europäischen Mitglieder
der IAAF.
Die Pflichten des europäischen Dachverbandes bestehen in der Weiterentwicklung
des Leichtathletik-Wettkampfprogramms und diversen Dienstleistungen
für die Mitgliedsverbände. Eine neue Satzung, die die Veränderungen in
Organisationsstruktur und Arbeitsweisen widerspiegelt, wurde am 5. Oktober 2005
auf dem außerordentlichen Kongress des Europäischen Leichtathletik-Verbandes
verabschiedet.
4.2. Die Stadt Braunschweig
Braunschweig ist mit rund 250.000 Einwohnern die größte Stadt zwischen
Hannover und Berlin: Sie überzeugt mit dem urbanen Lebensgefühl einer
attraktiven Einkaufsstadt, lebendigen Kulturstadt und als Zentrum der
forschungsintensivsten Region Europas. Auf kurzen Wegen ist alles zu

was eine Großstadt ausmacht – genauso wie die herrlichen Park- und
> erreichen,
Naturlandschaften, die entlang des Flusses Oker am Rand der Innenstadt für Ruhe
und Ausgleich sorgen.
Braunschweig ist auch das lebendige, zukunfts-orientierte und ambitionierte
Zentrum der Automobil-Region Braunschweig-Wolfsburg, dominiert vom weltbekannten Hersteller Volkswagen. Dank der globalen Ausrichtung von Konzern und
Zuliefer-Industrie gibt es in der Metropol-Region rund eine Million Arbeitsplätze.
Zudem wurde Braunschweig 2007 als Wissenschafts-Standort ausgezeichnet für
seine Vorreiterschaft als Europäisches Forschungszentrum vor allem der Luft- und
Raumfahrt sowie Mobilität.
Braunschweig wurde bereits im 9. Jahrhundert gegründet. Im 12. Jahrhundert unter
Herzog Heinrich dem Löwe erlebte die Stadt eine besondere Blütezeit, sein Sohn
Otto der Vierte, später Kaiser des damaligen Deutschen Reiches, bescherte der
Stadt internationale Anerkennung. Noch heute belegen die zahlreichen historischen
Gebäude am Burgplatz, im Magniviertel oder am Alten Markt die Bedeutung und
das besondere Charisma jener Zeit und späterer Epochen. Die frühere Residenz
der Braunschweiger Fürsten, im Krieg zerstört, wurde 2007 wieder ausgebaut.
Niedersachsens Einkaufsstadt Nummer eins verbindet auf attraktive Weise
Tradition mit Moderne: inhabergeführte Geschäfte, kleine Boutiquen und ansprechende Filialen bieten ein lückenloses Angebot. In der Fußgängerzone fügen sich
zwischen historischen Gebäuden lichtdurchflutete, überdachte Passagen und
moderne Geschäftshäuser. Ansprechende Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und eine vielfältige Gastronomieszene laden zum Innenstadtbummel ein. Im Sommer lassen
sich Sonne und Löwenstadt vor den Cafés, Bars und Restaurants auf einladenden
Plätzen genießen, während in der Adventszeit der schönste Weihnachtsmarkt
Norddeutschlands in die Löwenstadt einlädt.
Dank der Studierenden an der Technischen Universität und der Hochschule der
Feinen Künste ist Braunschweig eine junge Stadt mit hoher Lebensqualität, Freizeitund Erholungswert. Immer mehr Kongresse und Veranstaltungen, kulturelle Events
wie in Staatstheater und Museen in Braunschweig und Umgebung locken Gäste an.
Eine besondere Attraktion ist das Weltkulturerbe Rammelsberg bei Goslar mit seinem für Besucher zugänglichen Bergwerk.
Braunschweiger sind leidenschaftliche Sportler – sowohl in der Ausübung als auch

als Fans. Neben dem Fußball-Bundesligisten Eintracht Braunschweig, der sich absoluten Kultstatus' erfreut, begeistern beispielsweise der Braunschweiger Tanz-SportClub, mehrfacher Weltmeister im Formationstanz, die Footballer der New Yorker
Lions und die Erstliga-Basketballer der New Yorker Phantoms ihre Fans. Regelmäßig
richtet Braunschweig nationale wie internationale Meisterschaften in diversen
Disziplinen aus. Ein spezieller Sport ist den Braunschweigern der Schoduvel: Der
größte Karnevalszug Norddeutschlands blickt auf eine über 700-jährige Geschichte
zurück.
4.3. Das Eintracht-Stadion
Heimat der Braunschweiger Eintracht und der Braunschweig Lions. Schauplatz zahlreicher Leichtathletik-Events und open-air-Festivals. Traditionsreiches Stadion und
moderne Wettkampfstätte.
25.540. Das ist seit der Saison 2010/2011 die wichtigste Zahl des Eintracht-Stadions.
So viele Plätze gibt es jetzt an der Hamburger Straße. Mit dem Umbau der bis dahin
noch "offenen" Nordkurve ist das Eintracht-Stadion erstmals in seiner Geschichte
komplett überdacht. So wurde aus dem einstigen Hufeisen ein echter Hexenkessel.
Das Eintracht-Stadion ist das einzige Leichtathletik-Stadion in Niedersachsen in der
Kategorie A-Anlage, das für internationale Leichtathletik-Wettkämpfe zugelassen ist.
Seine Tauglichkeit wurde bei den Deutschen Leichtathletik-Meisterschaften im Juli
2010 einmal mehr unter Beweis gestellt.
Dank der Modernisierungen und Umgestaltungen der letzten Jahre kann das Stadion
heute mit zeitgemäßer Ausstattung aufwarten. Es ist der Weitsicht der Stadtoberen
zu verdanken, dass die Laufbahn im Gegensatz zu anderen vergleichbaren Stadien,
die in reine Fußball-Arenen verwandelt wurden, erhalten geblieben ist.
Das Stadion stammt in seinen Ursprüngen bereits aus den früheren 20er Jahren
des letzten Jahrhunderts. Ein vermögender ehemaliger Braunschweiger, der
es in den USA zu Wohlstand gebracht hatte, finanzierte auf dem Höhepunkt
der damaligen Weltwirtschaftskrise den Bau – zu jener Zeit noch außerhalb der
Stadtgrenzen. Das Fassungsvermögen betrug zwischenzeitlich 38.000 Plätze,
die natürlich alle gefüllt waren, als Eintracht Braunschweig 1967 die
Deutsche Fußball-Meisterschaft gewann.

Heute, mit reduziertem Platzangebot, komfortabel modernisiert, befindet sich das
Stadion unweit des Stadtzentrums in Nachbarschaft der Volkswagen-Produktionsstätten.
Drei Mal in den letzten 14 Jahren wurden hier die Deutschen LeichtathletikMeisterschaften ausgetragen. Die Arena ist bekannt für das enthusiastische Publikum,
das sachkundig eine besondere Atmosphäre schafft, die die Athleten zu Bestleistungen
treibt.

6.1. Ankunft
Per Flugzeug
Hannover-Langenhagen ist der offizielle Flughafen und etwa 55 Kilometer von
Braunschweig entfernt.
Die Medienvertreter werden gebeten, nach der Landung den Welcome Desk im
Ankunftsbereich des Flughafens zu kontaktieren. Der Welcome Desk wird – abhängig
von den übermittelten Reisedaten – etwa ab 9 Uhr am Mittwoch besetzt sein.
Nach Aufnahme des Gepäcks werden die Medienvertreter zu den offiziellen Bussen
geleitet und binnen etwa 45 Minuten Fahrzeit entweder zum Hotel oder zum
Akkreditierungszentrum gebracht.
Per Zug
Im Hauptbahnhof Braunschweig wird kein gesonderter Welcome Desk eingerichtet.
Anreisende Medienvertreter werden von LOC-Mitarbeitern empfangen und zu ihrem
Hotel gebracht, sofern sie die Unterbringung in einem offiziellen Hotel gebucht haben.
Per Auto
Medienvertreter, die mit dem eigenen Fahrzeug anreisen, werden gebeten, sich direkt
zu ihrem Hotel oder zum Akkreditierungszentrum zu begeben.

Das LOC organisiert den Transport zum Flughafen entsprechend den am Transportund Informations-Counter angegebenen Reiseterminen.
Die Zugangsbereiche entsprechend der Akkreditierung sind auf der
Akkreditierungskarte ersichtlich.
6.5. Akkreditierung
Grundsätzlich haben Medienvertreter Zugang zu:
• Medienzentrum im Zelt außerhalb des Stadions in unmittelbarer Nähe zu
Medientribüne und Mixed Zone
• Medientribüne in der Osttribüne oberhalb der Ziellinie
• Mixed Zone, nur wenige Schritte von der Medientribüne entfernt zwischen
Ziellinie und Post Event Area der Athleten
6.5.1. Allgemeines
Der Akkreditierungsprozess wird online über das ARENA Event Management-System
abgewickelt. Letzter Termin zur Hotelbuchung war der 9. Mai 2014. Informationen zur
Unterbringung sind im Registrierungs-Formular enthalten.
Letzter Akkreditierungstermin ist der 31. Mai 2014.
Die abschließende Pressekonferenz findet im Medienzentrum direkt im Anschluss
an die Schlussfeier statt.

6.6. Hotel-Informationen und Buchung
Senderechte-Inhaber (TV und Hörfunk) erhalten eine eigene Benutzerkennung mit
Passwort, um das System zu nutzen.

Eintracht-Stadion (Westtribüne) nach Ankunft gegen Vorlage eines Ausweises
abgeholt werden. Ein Foto ist für diese Veranstaltung nicht notwendig.

6.6.2. Buchung
Wenn im Zuge der Registrierung ein Unterbringungs-Wunsch übermittelt wurde,
wird der Status der Anforderung per Email übermittelt.
Wird erst später um Unterbringung nachgesucht, ist ein erneutes Einloggen ins
ARENA System mit den Daten, die in einer separaten Email übermittelt wurden,
erforderlich.
Die Deadline zur Buchung einer Unterkunft in einem offiziellen Medien-Hotel war
der 9. Mai 2014.
6.6.3. Stornierungen
Stornierungen bis zum 9. Mai 2014 waren ohne Gebühr möglich.
Für Stornierungen nach dem 9. Mai werden 100% der Übernachtungskosten als
Gebühr fällig, wenn der Raum nicht anderweitig vergeben werden konnte.
Im Falle des Nicht-Erscheinens wird der Gesamtbetrag berechnet.
6.6.4. Zahlungsverkehr
Kurz nach Registrierung wird per Email die Hotel-Rechnung zur Bezahlung per
Überweisung zugeschickt.
Um die Buchung zu gewährleisten, muss der Betrag innerhalb von fünf (5)
Werktagen nach Erhalt der Rechnung beglichen werden.
Die Buchung wird ausschließlich nach Zahlung des Gesamtbetrages garantiert.
Sollte die Zahlung nicht innerhalb von fünf Werktagen erfolgen, wird die Buchung
storniert und das Zimmer frei gegeben.
Zur Beachtung: Bei der Ankunft im Hotel ist an der Rezeption eine Kreditkarte zur
Bezahlung eventuell anfallender Nebenkosten wie Telefon, Minibar etc. vorzulegen.

Das Medienzentrum bietet Arbeitsplätze für ca. 80 Medienvertreter (schreibende
Presse und Fotografen). Jeder Platz ist mit Internetverbindung per LAN-Kabel und
Stromversorgung ausgestattet. Auch WLAN ist verfügbar.
Kleine Mahlzeiten sowie Kekse/Kuchen werden an beiden Wettkampftagen angeboten. Wasser, Kaffee und Tee sind während der Öffnungszeiten erhältlich.
Alle relevanten Informationen, Startlisten und Ergebnisse werden kopiert und in
den Pigeon Holes ausgelegt.

Stromanschlüsse.
Auch WLAN ist verfügbar.
6.9. Die Mixed Zone
Die Mixed Zone ist eine exklusive Interview-Zone für Medienvertreter und Athleten
und aufgeteilt in:
• die Live Mixed Zone für Rechte-Inhaber (TV und Hörfunk)
• die ENG Mixed Zone
• die Mixed Zone für die schreibende Presse

Athleten müssen das Stadion durch die Mixed Zone verlassen, sie sind aber nicht
verpflichtet, mit den Medienvertretern zu sprechen.
Das Mixed Zone Team des LOC ist für den reibungslosen Ablauf zuständig.
6.10. Flash Quotes
6.12.2. Fotografen-Briefing
Das Briefing findet am Samstag, 21. Mai, um 10 Uhr im Medienzentrum statt.
Da bei dieser Gelegenheit auch die Bibs vergeben werden, ist die Teilnahme verpflichtend.
Vor Erhalt eines Bibs müssen die Fotografen einen Code of Conduct als
Einverständniserklärung mit bestimmten Regeln unterzeichnen.
Flash Quotes werden vom Team des LOC gesammelt und über das CIS verbreitet.
Flash Quotes werden ebenso ausgedruckt und kopiert und an die Medienvertreter
in der Tribüne verteilt bzw. in den Pigeon Holes ausgelegt.
6.12.3. Infield-Fotografen
6.11. Pressekonferenzen
Die Ecke Ziellinie wird mit Stromversorgung und Internetzugang für die Fotografen
ausgestattet.
Die offizielle Pressekonferenz von European Athletics und dem LOC findet am
Freitag, 20. Mai, um 12 Uhr im Alten Bürgermeistersaal in der historischen Dornse im
Stadtzentrum statt.
Transport per Shuttle-Bus von und zu den Hotels sowie von und zum Stadion wird
angeboten.
Die Abschluss-Pressekonferenz wird am Sonntag, 22. Mai, unmittelbar nach der
Schlussfeier im Medienzentrum stattfinden.
6.12. Fotografen
6.12.1. Photo Chief
Maximal 12 Fotografen, erkennbar an der Farbe ihrer Bibs, erhalten Zugang zum
Infield. Der Photo Chief entscheidet über den Zugang.
6.12.4. Outfield-Fotografen
Fotografen können grundsätzlich von allen ungenutzten Zuschauerplätzen
arbeiten, sofern sie nicht die Sicht Umsitzender behindern. Bei Erscheinen des
Karteninhabers sind die Plätze umgehend frei zu geben.
Die Head-On-Position kann von einer begrenzten Anzahl Fotografen genutzt werden. Der Zugang erfolgt nach dem Prinzip first come – first served.
Weitere Schlüsselpositionen in der Tribüne werden definiert und können nach dem
gleichen Prinzip genutzt werden. Fotografen dürfen die Sicht Umsitzender nicht
behindern.

An beiden Wettkampftagen müssen wegen des engen Zeitplans die Remote
Kameras spätestens eine Stunde vor Beginn der Wettkämpfe in Abstimmung mit
dem Photo Chief oder dem Mediendirektor aufgestellt sein. Sie können erst nach
Ende der Wettkämpfe abgebaut werden.

CIS-Monitore sind auf allen Tischen der Medientribüne, in der Mixed Zone und im
Medienzentrum verfügbar.
6.14. Informations-Verteilung
Läufer des LOC Kopierzentrums werden wichtige Informationen als Hardcopy auf
der Medientribüne verteilen.

7. Erstklassige Zeitnahmetechnologie von OMEGA für die
Leichtathletik-Europameisterschaft der Nationalteams
OMEGA freut sich darauf, sein einzigartiges Know-how im Bereich der Sportzeitnahme
im Rahmen der Leichtathletik-Europameisterschaft der Nationalteams unter Beweis zu
stellen.
Seit nunmehr über 80 Jahren begleitet OMEGA die Zeitnahme in der Leichtathletik.
1932 beauftragte das Internationale Olympische Komitee (IOK) die Marke, sämtliche
Sportzeitnahmeinstrumente für die Olympischen Spiele, die im gleichen Jahr in Los
Angeles ausgetragen werden sollten, zur Verfügung zu stellen. Das Unternehmen
lieferte schließlich 30 OMEGA Chronographen, mit denen die Ergebnisse aller Veranstaltungen präzise und zuverlässig aufgezeichnet wurden. Auch in der Folgezeit
bewies OMEGA wiederholt seine Fähigkeit, hoch entwickelte Sportzeitnahmesysteme
zu entwickeln. 2014 übernahm die Marke anlässlich der Olympischen Winterspiele
in Sotschi zum 26. Mal die Rolle als offizieller Zeitnehmer. Aktuell laufen die Vorbereitungen auf die Olympischen Spiele 2016 in Rio.
Jedes Jahr entsendet OMEGA seine mit einem Arsenal an hochmoderner Zeitnahmeausrüstung ausgestatteten Zeitmessexperten, um Sportveranstaltungen auf
der ganzen Welt zu begleiten. Zu den innovativen Systemen zählen Startblöcke,
Fehlstartdetektoren, die neueste Generation von Fotofinish-Kameras für Sprintund Mittelstreckenrennen sowie Höhen- und Weitenmessgeräte für Disziplinen
abseits der Bahnen und Straßen.
Aufzeichnung und Anzeige aller Ergebnisse dank OMEGA
OMEGAs offizielle Zeitnehmer garantieren, dass die offiziellen Ergebnisse rechtzeitig
an sämtliche an den Wettbewerben beteiligte Personen übermittelt werden. OMEGA
ist ebenso für die Anzeigen für Sportler und ihre Betreuerteams, die Informationen
über die Leistungen der Konkurrenz liefern, und die Anzeigetafeln, die den Fans an
jeder Wettkampfstätte zur Verfügung stehen, verantwortlich. Die offiziellen Ergebnisse
werden darüber hinaus an TV-Stationen, Netzwerke und Printmedien übermittelt, die
diese – versehen mit eigenen Kommentaren – an Zuschauer in der ganzen Welt weiterleiten.

Für jeden Wettbewerb bedarf es präzise eingestellter Instrumente und Systeme einschließlich elektronischer Startsysteme, Fehlstartdetektoren, fotoelektrischer Zellen
und Fotofinish-Kameras. Die Scan'O'Vision-Kamera fängt mit über 2.000 hochauflösenden Bildern pro Sekunde die Zieleinläufe ein.
OMEGA und Leichtathletik
OMEGAs Leichtathletikzeitnahmeexperten sind über das ganze Jahr in allen
Ecken der Welt im Einsatz. Neben der Partnerschaft mit der LeichtathletikEuropameisterschaft der Nationalteams und der Crosslauf-Europameisterschaften
2014 unterstützt OMEGA auch weiterhin die IAAF Diamond League, der es als
offizieller Zeitnehmer aller Meetings der Saison 2014 zur Seite steht.
OMEGA wünscht allen an der Leichtathletik-Europameisterschaft der Nationalteams

10. Zeremonien
Die Eröffnung der Team-Europameisterschaft findet im Start- und Zielraum
des Braunschweiger Nachtlaufes statt. Die traditionsreiche Veranstaltung mit
rund 12.000 Teilnehmern findet am 20. Juni zum 28. Mal statt. Hansjörg Wirz,
der Präsident von European Athletics, gibt den Startschuss zum Kinderrennen.
Kurze Ansprachen folgen, ehe Oberbürgermeister Dr. Gert Hoffmann die TeamEuropameisterschaft 2014 offiziell eröffnet.
10.2. Siegerehrung
Die Siegerehrung findet nach der letzten Entscheidung im Stadion statt. Die
Schlussfeier folgt gleich anschließend.

11. Medien-Einladung
14. Schul-Kampagne
Alle Medienvertreter sind zu Abschluss-Bankett und -Party in der Volkswagen Halle
am Sonntagabend, ab 20 Uhr eingeladen. Die Akkreditierung ist am Einlass vorzuzeigen.
In der Vorbereitung der Veranstaltung haben Schülerinnen und Schüler von
Braunschweiger Grundschulen an einer Kampagne teilgenommen, in deren
Mittelpunkt die Leichtathletik und die Kultur der teilnehmenden Nationen standen.
Mit T-Shirts in den Farben der zwölf Länder wetteiferten Viertklässler an einem Tag
im Mai bei „Leichtathletik in Aktion“ in einfachen Leichtathletik-Disziplinen.
Am Freitagabend findet ein Public Viewing der Spiele der FIFA Fußball-WM in der
Volkswagen Halle statt.
Schüler von zwölf Schulen wurden schwerpunktmäßig über die zwölf TeilnehmerLänder unterrichtet. Ihre Kenntnisse haben sie auf künstlerische Art umgesetzt. Die
Ergebnisse werden in der Market Street am Stadion während der Wettkampftage ausgestellt. Die Stadionbesucher sind aufgefordert, die Kunstwerke zu bewerten.
12. Sicherheit
Sicherheitsrelevanten Instruktionen von LOC, Sicherheitskräfte oder Polizei ist
unbedingt Folge zu leisten.
13. Medizinische Versorgung
Der medizinische Service steht Mannschaften, Organisationspersonal, Ehrengästen
und natürlich während der Wettkampftage auch den Zuschauern zur Verfügung.
Ärzte und Sanitäter sind im Stadion und am Roten Kreuz erkennbar.
Im Notfall kann die nächstgelegene Erste Hilfe-Station kontaktiert oder der TelefonNotruf 112 gerufen werden.

15. Nachhaltigkeit und
Umweltschutz
Nachhaltigkeit und Umweltschutz sind Kernelemente des LOC bei Planung
und Umsetzung der Veranstaltung. Das LOC übernimmt Verantwortung, die
ihren besonderen Ausdruck in den Bereichen Transport, Abfallbeseitigung oder
Energieversorgung findet. Insbesondere hat sich das LOC verpflichtet:
• P
apierabfall zu vermeiden und ausschließlich zertifiziertes FSC-Papier für Druck
und Versand zu verwenden
• Regenwasser zu speichern und zu nutzen, z.B. in den Toilettenanlagen
• Abfälle zu trennen und zu recyceln
• Regeln streng zu befolgen (Anti-Diskriminierung, Umweltschutz)
• Behinderten-gerechte Zugänge, Sitze für Seh- und Gehör-Geschädigte
zu schaffen
