Star Trek 50th Anniversary
Celebration

Carman Community Room
Trekkies of all ages experience out of this world fun including
a scavenger hunt, a trivia contest, crafts & more! Len Sharp will
present “Science vs. Science Fiction” a discussion on light speed,
warp speed, wormholes, phasers and more. Come as your favorite
starfleet member or other-worldly being for a chance to win a prize

and Tender Perennials
Black Holes and Gravitational Waves
Thursday, Sept 22 • 7pm • Carman Community Room
For the first time, scientists have detected gravitational waves,
ripples in space and time hypothesized by physicist Albert
Einstein a century ago. This landmark discovery opens a new
window for studying the cosmos. Presented by Damian G. Allis,

OHA Liverpool GhostWalk – Lakeside Views II*
Friday, Sept 23, 30; Sat, Sept 24, Oct 1 • Starts at library
The Onondaga Historical Assoc. returns to the village famous for
salt brine and willow baskets to tell ghostly tales. *Cost is $15,

Rise & Shine
How Money Works: Pay Yourself First*
Driver safety program for adults 50+. This is a two-day, six-hour
course (3 hrs/day). You must attend both days for insurance
reduction. AARP members $20, non-members $25. *Registration
is required and begins Sept 6 for LCSD residents, Sept 19 for all.
Learn to overwinter annuals and how to grow fall stem cuttings
of favorite annuals indoors until the warm weather returns.

Local Author and Musician Meet and Greet

Small Steps: Coming Back to Life
after Loss and Change*

Catastrophic Volcanic Eruptions

forever “frozen” in their historical time which gives us a “snapshot”

Native People by Oscar Manjarres
Drop off new unwrapped toys for newborns to teens.
Place new or handmade mittens, gloves, hats
and scarves under one of the two holiday trees.
They will be distributed to local charities.
The library is now a diaper donation site for the CNY Diaper
Bank, a non-profit organization that works to provide diapers
to local families in need through a network of partner agencies.
Disposable diapers of all sizes, in new or already opened
packages can be dropped off any time the library is open.
The donation box will be located either next to the Security Desk or in the Children’s Room.

Teen Geeks Tabletop Games

This is an informal program where teens can hang out, play tabletop games and eat snacks. Each meeting will be a little different
from the last.
Anime Night
Wednesdays, Sept 14, Oct 12, Nov 9, Dec 14
6-8pm • Carman Community Room
A social event for teens to watch and
discuss anime. Every month a different
anime will be played on the library’s large
HD projector screen. Activities change
each month and may include drawing
contests, trivia, games and prizes.
Refreshments will be served. Cosplay
is welcomed, but costumes must be
deemed appropriate by library staff.
Teen Geeks Video Games

Games will be played on the large screen and on a smaller display.
Hang out, play games and eat snacks. Each meeting will be a little
different from the last.
Teen 8 Bit Perler Design*
Perler beads are tiny cylinder shaped beads
that are used to create designs on peg
boards and then fused together by using an iron. Examples will
be displayed but teens are encouraged to be creative.

Our big book sale is Sept 24 & 25
and it will once again be in our
underground garage.
To get ready for the sale, we are closing the donation drop-off in
the garage on Sept 1 for one month. We will reopen Oct 1.
We have a year’s worth of donated and withdrawn books, CDs, DVDs and
more at the same great prices as before. More than 80,000 items,
including a collectible books section. All proceeds benefit the library.
