Dear Golf Enthusiasts
Les doy la más calurosa bienvenida a
Son Gual.
Nuestro campo abrió sus puertas en el 2007
y en los últimos 3,5 años hemos conseguido
consolidarlo como un campo referente, tanto en Mallorca como en Europa.
Hasta ahora, la temporada del 2011 va de
viento en popa. Además, un año más Son
Gual es el anfitrión de grandes torneos,
como el Rolex, el Mont Blanc, el Pinmar o el
Sol Melia. Al mismo tiempo, el campo se ha
convertido en un punto de encuentro, como
del Club Ferrari de España, entre otros.
Nuestro reto es, ofrecer a nuestros clientes una jornada inolvidable de golf y tanto
nuestro equipo como nuestra familia nos
esforzamos día a día para conseguir tal objetivo. Igualmente, trabajamos para que la
calidad del campo, el servicio ofrecido en
el clubhouse y el restaurante o la oferta del
Proshop sean extraordinarios y a plena satisfacción de nuestros clientes.
Mallorca es una isla muy especial que luce
sus encantos y ofertas en cada estación del
año. Perfectamente conectada con todos
los aeropuertos europeos y equipada con
23 campos de golf, Mallorca sigue siendo el
principal destino de golf en Europa.
Aunque respecto al nivel de precios la isla no
pueda competir con países como Turquía o
Marruecos, estos países no pueden compararse con la isla, ya que allí las ofertas fuera
de los ressorts y el mercado gastronómico
no son competitivos con Mallorca. Además,
para hacer una escapada de pocos días, un
viaje a Turquía o Marruecos sería muy largo.
Esperamos que se sientan en su casa en Son

auf Son Gual.
Unsere Anlage wurde im Oktober 2007
eröffnet und hat sich in den vergangenen
dreieinhalb Jahren sehr gut auf Mallorca
und auch in Europa etabliert.
Die Saison 2011 verläuft bisher für uns sehr
gut. Son Gual ist wieder Austragungsort
großer Turnier wie z.B. Rolex, Mont Blanc,
Pinmar, Sol Melia aber auch Treffpunkt für
z. B. den Ferrari Club Spanien.
Wir möchten unseren Kunden einen unvergesslichen Golftag bereiten und arbeiten
daran täglich mit unserem gesamten Team
und unserer Familie.
Nicht nur die Qualität des Platzes sondern
auch der Service im Clubhaus und Restaurant sowie das Angebot im Proshop soll für
unsere Kunden außergewöhnlich sein.
Mallorca ist zu jeder Jahreszeit eine ganz

I would like to extend my warmest welcome to you here at Son Gual.
Our course opened in 2007 and over the
last three-and-a-half years we have managed to consolidate it as a top course both in
Mallorca and in Europe.
Until now, the 2011 season has been going
extremely well. And, for yet another year, Son
Gual is the venue for big tournaments, such
as the Rolex, the Mont Blanc, the Pinmar or
the Sol Melia. At the same time, the course
has become a meeting point, for example for
the Club Ferrari of Spain, among others.
Our challenge is to offer our clients an unforgettable day’s golf and both our team
and our family strive every day to achieve
this goal. In the same way, we work to ensure that the quality of the course, the service
dispensed in the clubhouse and the restaurant or the range of products on offer in the
Pro-shop are extraordinary and meet with
the entire satisfaction of our customers.
Mallorca is a very special island, and one
that displays its charms and possibilities at
any time of year. Perfectly connected to all
the European airports and equipped with
23 golf courses, Mallorca is still the main
golf destination in Europe.
Although in terms of prices the island cannot
compete with countries such as Turkey or
Morocco, these countries cannot be compared to Mallorca, as the possibilities outside
the resorts and the gastronomy market are
by no means competitive with our island. And
anyway, for a short break, a trip to Turkey or
Morocco would be too time-consuming.
We sincerely hope that you feel at home at

el de Son Gual, se acercan mucho a la

The prestigious golf course designer
Thomas Himmel (Caracas, Venezuela,
1964) is responsible for the layout of
Son Gual. Himmel’s designs combine
classicism and modernity, harmonising
with the surroundings at the same time
as they challenge players and, in cases
like Son Gual, coming very close to perfection.
Primero de todo, ¿Cuál es su filosofía a
la hora de diseñar un campo de golf?
A pesar de que la metodología a seguir
es siempre la misma, nunca hacemos dos
campos iguales. Lo primero es evaluar si se
va a tratar de un campo turístico, de resort,
público, etc. Después analizamos el suelo,
presupuesto, suministro de agua, región
climática y otros aspectos. Por último vienen los detalles como la ubicación del club
house para prever el comienzo y el fin del
campo, las localizaciones de áreas de práctica, el contorno del terreno, las áreas naturales a preservar, puntos destacados para
greens o tees, entre otros.
¿Y cómo es el diseño de Son Gual?
Bueno, se trata de un proyecto muy prestigioso y de muy alta calidad donde los golfistas con un hándicap menor que 36 disfrutarán con el reto que propone este campo.
A pesar de haber desplazado mucha tierra
para el modelaje, se creó un paisaje muy
agradable que encaja con sus alrededores,
siempre elaborado bajo aspectos ecológicos. Existe una plantación de más de 800
olivos centenarios y algarrobos, así como
de zonas extensivas florales con plantas
típicas de la Mallorca. Diría que el mayor
atractivo del campo son los bunkers y la
fluidez de los hoyos entre las zonas bajas
y altas, así como sus vistas sobre Palma.
También la calidad de los greens y los tees
y el aspecto del Palacio dominando todo el
campo. La familia Pamer fue muy valiente
queriendo construir un campo de primera
categoría para Mallorca. El resultado global
es excelente.
Al construir el campo, ¿Cómo logra respetar la naturaleza y los entornos naturales?
El punto más importante en nuestros diseños es sin duda el respeto por la naturaleza. No solo por la conformidad con las

soll. Dann analysieren wir Boden, Kostenplan, Wasserzufuhr, Klima und andere
Dinge und zuletzt die Lage des Clubhauses, um unter anderem die Abmessungen
des Golfplatzes, die Lage der Übungsplätze, das Gelände, die zu erhaltenden Naturbereiche sowie die Greens und Tees
festzulegen.
Wie ist das Design von Son Gual?
Son Gual ist ein anspruchsvolles Projekt
mit hohen Qualitätsstandards. Für Golfer
mit einem Handicap von weniger als 36
ist der Platz eine echte Herausforderung.
Obwohl wir viel Erde für den Bau bewegt
haben, ist eine wunderschöne Landschaft
entstanden, die mit ihrer Umgebung harmoniert. Dabei haben wir auf Umweltverträglichkeit geachtet. Es gibt mehr als 800
jahrhundertealte Oliven- und Johannisbrotbäume und weitläufige Blumenareale
mit typisch mallorquinischen Pflanzen. Ich
denke, der Platz ist vor allem durch seine
Bunker und die geschickte Anordnung der
Löcher in den niederen und höheren Lagen
attraktiv. Und dann der Blick auf Palma, die
Klasse der Greens und Tees und das Herrenhaus, das den gesamten Platz dominiert.
Die Familie Pamer war sehr mutig, sich an
den Bau eines erstklassigen Golfplatzes auf
Mallorca zu wagen, das Ergebnis ist jedenfalls ausgezeichnet.
Wie schaffen Sie es, dass die Natur beim
Bau eines Golfplatzes erhalten bleibt?
Umweltschutz hat oberste Priorität bei
unseren Designs. Und das nicht nur, um
First of all, what is your philosophy
when designing a golf course?
In spite of the fact that you always follow
the same methodology, we never make two
courses the same. The first thing to be assessed is whether the course is going to be
for tourists, in a resort, or for the general
public, etc. Then we analyse the ground,
the budget, the water supply, the climate
region and other aspects, too. And finally
we go into details such as the location of
the club house, in order to foresee the beginning and the end of the course, the location of the practice areas, the contours
of the terrain, the natural areas that have
to be preserved, outstanding points for
greens or tees, and others.
And what is the design of Son Gual like?
Well, this is an extremely prestigious, very
high quality project, and golfers with a handicap below 36 will enjoy the challenge this
course poses to them. Even though a great
deal of earth was displaced for the modelling, a very pleasant landscape was achieved that fits in well with the surroundings,
and the ecological aspects were taken into
account the whole time. There is a plantation of over 800 very old olive and carob
trees, as well as extensive flowerbeds planted with typical Mallorcan varieties. I would
say the course’s biggest attractions are the
bunkers and the fluidity of the holes between the low and the high zones, as well as
its views of Palma. And also the quality of
the greens and the tees, and the appearance of the palace, presiding over the whole
course. The Pamer family were very brave
in wanting to construct a first-category golf
course for Mallorca. The overall result is excellent.
When you build a course, how do you
manage to respect nature and the natural surroundings?

Primero de todo se deben determinar las
zonas a proteger dentro de la propiedad
y evitar que el diseño las perjudique. El
siguiente paso es crear nuevas zonas naturales de refugio para la fauna y flora.
También se debe planificar un sistema de
riego ecológico, e intentar un menor uso
de maquinaria. Por último, adaptar el modelaje del campo a los contornos naturales de la propiedad.
¿Qué le puede decir a la gente que se
queja de que un campo de golf no es
ecológico?
Es verdad que todavía hay muchos ejemplos de campos de golf poco ecológicos en
cuanto a localización, diseño y mantenimiento. Pero la realidad actual nos ha mostrado que un mantenimiento “suave” tiene
mejores efectos para la grama y para el golf
también. La mayoría de campos modernos
representan una mejoría para el medioambiente en todos los sentidos.
Por último, dígame por favor por qué es
recomendable venir a jugar a Son Gual
Pues porque, aparte de ser un campo
muy espectacular, uno se siente como
en casa. Los horarios de salida, cada 15
minutos, evitan un sentimiento de estrés
en el campo. Además la terraza del club,
sus vistas espectaculares y la comida deliciosa de su restaurante redondean un
día memorable.

Was sagen Sie denen, die Golfplätze für
Umweltsünden halten?
Es ist wahr, noch immer gibt es viele Golfplätze, die hinsichtlich ihrer Lage, ihres Designs und ihrer Pflege nicht umweltgerecht
sind. Die Realität hat uns gezeigt, dass ökologische Instandhaltung besser für den Rasen und den Golfsport selbst ist. Die Mehrzahl der modernen Golfplätze sind jedoch
umweltverträglich.
Letzte Frage: Warum empfehlen Sie das
Golfspiel auf Son Gual?
Son Gual ist einfach ein prächtiger Platz,
hier fühlt man sich wie zuhause. Die Abschlagszeiten alle 15 Minuten verhindern,
dass man sich auf dem Platz gestresst fühlt.
Dann die Clubterrasse mit ihren atemberaubenden Ausblicken, das leckere Essen
im Restaurant – all dies macht einen Tag
auf Son Gual unvergesslich.
INTERVIEW
Without doubt the most important point of
our designs is respect for nature. Not only
in terms of complying with environmental
laws, but also because of the profound conviction we have that golf has to be an environmentally-sustainable project. First and
foremost we have to identify the areas that
need protecting within the property and
ensure the design does not damage them.
The next step is to create new natural areas
of refuge for the fauna and flora. You also
have to plan an ecological watering system,
and try to use less machinery. Finally, the
modelling of the course must be adapted to
the natural contours of the property.
What is your reply to people who complain that golf courses are not ecological?
It is true that there are still many examples
of unecological golf courses with regard
to location, design and maintenance. But
current reality has shown us that “gentle”
maintenance has better effects on the grass
and on the golf, too. Most modern courses
represent an improvement for the environment in all senses.
Finally, please tell me why you would recommend people come and play at Son
Gual.
Because apart from the fact that it is a spectacular course, it makes you feel at home.
The start times, every 15 minutes, prevent
any feeling of stress on the course. And the
club’s terrace, its spectacular views and the
delicious food served in the restaurant all
round off a memorable day.

Un gran campo de golf siempre lo es por
muchas razones. Y sin duda el mantenimiento es una de ellas. Que cerca de 30
empleados se encarguen diariamente del
cuidado del campo de Son Gual, cuando en
el resto de campos de Mallorca ni siquiera
llegan a los diez empleados, da muestra del
compromiso de este club a la hora de ofrecer lo mejor a sus miembros y clientes.
Según Gareth Anwell, headgreenkeeper de
Son Gual, la inversión en maquinaria del campo supera el millón de euros, “ningún campo
gasta más en este concepto en toda Europa”,
explica. La súper específica flota de Son Gual

Euro investiert. „Kein Golfplatz in Europa

A great golf course is always great for
many reasons. And there can be no doubt that maintenance is one of them. The
fact that almost 30 employees are dedicated
to caring for the Son Gual course every day,
when on the rest of Mallorca’s courses there
are not even as many as ten, demonstrates
this club’s commitment to offering its members and clients the very best.
According to Gareth Anwell, head greenkeeper of Son Gual, the course’s investment in
machinery is in excess of one million Euros;
“no single course spends more on this area
in the whole of Europe,” he explains. Son

centímetros de profundidad, máquinas pinchadoras para un mejor agarre de la hierba,

gramos por metro, máquinas para rastrillar
las cinco hectáreas de bunkers que tiene el
campo, 1.700 aspersores para regar el césped con la cantidad de agua que necesita, de
los que se ocupan dos cuidadores en exclusiva, una máquina de osmosis que transforma
el agua de la depuradora, etcétera. Además,
greens, antegreens y tees son trabajados a
mano por 14 cuidadores día a día, a fin de
que antes de cada partido el campo esté en
unas condiciones inmejorables.
Toda esta millonaria inversión es desde
luego una de las claves que hacen de Son
Gual uno de los mejores campos de Europa.
Además el club está concienciado en que
la manera de seguir estando en la élite es
seguir invirtiendo en máquinas y otros artilugios que hagan el campo cada día mejor.

und Greens, eine Grabenfräse für Dränagen von fünf Zentimetern Breite und 30
bis 40 Zentimetern Tiefe, Vertikutierer,
eine Sä- und Drillmaschine, mit einer
Leistung von 40 Gramm Samen pro Meter
oder Rechen- und Harkmaschinen für die
insgesamt fünf Hektar großen Bunkerflächen machen den Maschinenpark aus.
Dazu kommen 1.700 Rasensprenger, um
die sich exklusiv zwei Angestellte kümmern, sowie eine Umkehrosmose-Anlage
zur Reinigung des Klärwassers. Die Abschläge werden täglich von 14 Angestellten
per Hand gemäht. So kann jede Golfpartie
unter besten Bedingungen stattfinden.

mowers for fairways, six Triplex mowers
for maintenance of tees and greens, a trencher for making draining channels five centimetres wide and 30-40 centimetres deep,
aeration machines to ensure the grass has
room to grow, a seeder that sows at a rate of
40 grams of seeds per metre, machines for
raking the course’s five hectares of bunkers,
1,700 sprinklers for watering the turf with
the precise amount of water it requires,
which is the exclusive task of two of the
caretakers, an osmosis machine that transforms the water from the sewage plant, etc.
Moreover greens, fringes and tees are worked on by hand by 14 caretakers every day,
so that the course is in incomparable condition before every single game.
All of this huge investment is without doubt one of the keys to making Son Gual one
of the best courses in Europe. And the club
is also very aware that the way to remain in

En el día a día de un club de golf de primer nivel, suceden cosas que aparentemente no están a la vista de los jugadores. Pero si uno observa con atención
es posible que las descubra y se asombre
con ellas. Por ejemplo con los vuelos que
halcones y águilas perfectamente dirigidas
y entrenadas realizan en Son Gual para salvaguardar el campo de intrusos no deseados, principalmente palomas y otras aves
que ensucian el campo con sus plumas y
sus excrementos, aunque también plagas
de conejos u otras similares.
Sergio Cantón es el cetrero encargado del
entrenamiento y vuelo de las seis águilas y
tres halcones que habitan en Son Gual. Su
trabajo empieza muy temprano: “lo primero que hago es pesarlos –dice Sergio-, ya
que para volar es fundamental que estén
en su peso adecuado, son como atletas, no
pueden estar ni muy pesados ni muy flojos,
si no, no cumplirían con sus objetivos”. Después los elegidos para ese día son soltados,
de uno en uno, para realizar vuelos “de
marcaje”, para que las aves que pululan por

bien un halcón gerifalte blanco, como el
de los jeques árabes, puede llegar a costar
más de 40.000 euros.

dándoles de comer hasta que el entrenador
se gana su confianza y le puede quitar la
caperuza sin miedo a que se asuste: entonces el halcón ya nunca más se separara de
él. Una vez conseguido este paso, viene el
aprendizaje del vuelo y la caza, poniéndole
trozos de carne cada vez a más distancia
para que sus vuelos y sus saltos sean cada
día más largos.

Scheichs als Jagdtier beliebt ist.
Das Training eines Falken beginnt kurz
nach seiner Geburt. Man stülpt ihm eine
Kappe über den Kopf, täglich spricht man
mit ihm, streichelt ihn und gibt ihm zu fressen, bis der Trainer sein Vertrauen gewonnen hat. Erst dann wird die Kappe abgenommen, ohne dass der Vogel erschrickt.
Ab diesem Moment ist der Falke ein treuer
Schatten seines Herrn. Danach wird das
Tier für Flug und Jagd ausgebildet. Dafür
werden Fleischstücke in immer größerer
Entfernung verteilt und so sein Flug- und
Trainingsgebiet ausgedehnt.

The secret lies in rewarding these predators
every time they return from a flight. This
means they are given a treat so that they do
not lose their instinct. In any case, if they
do hunt and kill a pigeon or another bird,
they eat it – this is a fact of life. Some of the
data regarding these animals are truly spectacular: a falcon can reach a flight speed of
350 kilometres per hour in a nosedive (the
peregrine falcon is the fastest animal in the
world); falcons can see their prey perfectly
up to six kilometres away, and eagles up to
three; falcons can have a lifespan of up to
17 years; these animals are so perfect, and
their training is so specific, that their market
price is not what you would call economical:
one of the ones at Son Gual cost 7,000 Euros,
although a white gyrfalcon, such as those
preferred by Arab sheiks, may cost more

Los Georgy vinieron a Mallorca hace unos
40 años, y se declaran enamorados tanto de

posee una bodega, Canetto, en Italia, además de un castillo en Francia. Precisamente
el primer premio del torneo es una semana

Rolex y la Relojería Alemana vienen apostando por el golf desde
hace tiempo, y por segundo año consecutivo organizan su torneo en
Son Gual, en el que participan invitados y clientes. Relojería Alemana está muy vinculada a este deporte, especialmente su propietario
Pablo Fuster Tarongí. De hecho no es el único torneo que patrocina,

es Son Gual, está su restaurante, espacioso

quieren comer algo rápido antes de empezar a jugar, o bien gustan de cenar bien y
con tranquilidad después de haberse dado
una sauna y duchado en las instalaciones
del club”. En el tee de salida del hoyo 8 hay
un teléfono junto a una carta del restaurante. Así, los jugadores que lo desean pueden
llamar con su pedido, y al llegar al hoyo
9, un empleado les está esperando con la
comida lista para que puedan disfrutarla a
mitad del recorrido.
El restaurante tiene una capacidad para
120 personas, 200 contando la terraza, y
en él se pueden contratar todo tipo de celebraciones: comidas de empresa, bodas,
cumpleaños, etc. También, durante los torneos de golf que se celebran en Son Gual,
el equipo de Cano se encarga de preparar
los bufetes y barbacoas para los jugadores
y patrocinadores. Destacar que los miembros de Son Gual disfrutan de descuentos

Clou: am Tee an Loch 8 gibt es ein Telefon
und eine Speisekarte des Restaurants. Die
Spieler können telefonisch ihre Bestellung
aufgeben und wenn sie zu Loch 9 kommen
und damit die Hälfte der Strecke hinter
sich haben, steht schon ein Kellner mit dem
gewünschten Essen bereit.
Das Restaurant verfügt über 120 Sitzplätze, die Terrasse über weitere 80, und ist
ideal für die Ausrichtung von Firmenessen,
Hochzeiten oder Geburtstagen. Findet auf
Son Gual eines der zahlreichen Golfturniere statt, sind Cano und sein Team für das
Büffett und Barbecue für die Spieler und
Kooperationspartner verantwortlich. Die

Son Gual es un claro ejemplo de sostenibilidad medioambiental y aprovechamiento de los recursos propios. Estar en
Mallorca, es decir, en el corazón del Mediterráneo, es demasiado tentador como para
no dedicar una parte de las 156 hectáreas de
terreno a producir aceite de los centenarios
e imponentes olivos. Un aceite de primera
calidad obtenido a partir de aceitunas de la
variedad picual, una de las más exquisitas,
con un sabor intenso, afrutado, consistente,
perfecto para preparar todo tipo de platos,
para aliñar ensaladas y, por supuesto, para
comer el tan típico pa amb oli mallorquín
(pan con aceite y tomate restregado).
El encargado de elaborar el aceite de Son
Gual es Gabi Mayol, productor desde hace
muchos años. Según Mayol, una de las claves para que este aceite sea de tanta calidad es la máquina que se utiliza para el
proceso de producción, la OlioMio, una de
las mejores del mercado. Esta máquina es
capaz de moler 250 kilos de aceitunas por
hora, después de que hayan sido lavadas y
deshojadas. La ventaja de la OlioMio es que
solo realiza una vez el proceso de triturado,
es decir, no refina el aceite como sí hacen
otras máquinas industriales. El resultado:
una auténtica delicatesen para los paladares más exquisitos.

Das Qualitätsöl wird aus Picual-Oliven hergestellt, die für ihren exquisiten, fruchtigen
und aromatischen Geschmack bekannt sind.
Das Öl ist ideal für alle Gerichte, zum Anrichten von Salaten oder für die mallorquinische Nationalspeise Pa amb oli (Brot, das mit
Öl und Tomaten eingerieben wird).
Gabi Mayol, seit vielen Jahren Ölproduzent,
kümmert sich um die Ölherstellung auf Son
Gual. Mayol verrät, dass der Schlüssel für
die hohe Qualität des Öls in der Oliomio liegt, eine der besten Ölmühlen am Markt, die
auf Son Gual benutzt wird. Die Mühle mahlt
bis zu 250 Kilogramm Oliven pro Stunde.
Vorher werden die Oliven natürlich gereinigt und von Blättern befreit. Der Vorteil
der Oliomio ist, dass die Oliven nur ein Mal
gemahlen werden; das Öl wird, im Gegensatz zu anderen Industrieölmühlen, danach
nicht raffiniert. Das Ergebnis ist eine wahre
Delikatesse, selbst für die anspruchsvollsten Gaumen.
Son Gual is a clear example of environmental sustainability and utilisation of
its own resources. Located as it is in Mallorca, which is to say the very heart of the
Mediterranean, the temptation to devote
some of its 156 hectares of land to producing
oil from the imposing ancient olive trees is
far too great to resist. This oil is top quality,
extracted from olives of the picual variety,
one of the most exquisite there is with an
intense, fruity, consistent flavour, perfect for
preparing all types of dishes, adding to salads and naturally, for eating with the typical
Mallorcan pa amb oli (bread smeared with
oil and tomato pulp).
The person in charge of manufacturing Son
Gual’s oil is Gabi Mayol, who has been producing this liquid gold for many years now.
Mayol believes that one of the crucial reasons why the quality of this oil is so good is
the machine used in the production process,
the OlioMio, one of the best available on the
market. The machine can grind 250 kilos of
olives an hour, after they have been washed
and the leaves removed. The advantage of
the OlioMio is that it only performs the crushing process once; this means it does not
refine the oil like other industrial machines.
The result: an authentic delicacy fit for the
most demanding of palates.

Una historia trágica
Eine tragische Geschichte
A tragic story
La historia que envuelve al imponente
y a la vez misterioso palacio que domina una parte del recorrido de Son Gual,
es digna de una novela. La conocemos de
primera mano por un hombre, Pedro Cantallops (Sant Jordi, Mallorca, 1938), que
vivió en primera persona los sucesos que
ahora pasamos a relatar a partir de su experiencia. Cantallops trabajó toda su vida
de guarda jurado de la finca de Son Gual,
y ya su madre, nacida en 1911, trabajaba
las tierras que hoy ocupan el campo de golf.
El hombre que mandó construir el palacio
se llamaba Miquel Frau, y era un sencillo
oficial de albañilería. Durante un viaje que
realizó a Cuba, Frau compró muchos cupones de lotería para, a su regreso a Mallorca,
vender dichos cupones a sus amigos. Al parecer, ninguno de estos amigos quiso comprarle la lotería, así que tuvo que quedarse
con todos esos cupones. La sorpresa que le
cambió la vida a Miquel Frau y su familia
fue que ¡les toco el premio gordo!... Con esa
fortuna, Frau compró todos los terrenos
y decidió construir un palacio a imagen y
semejanza de las grandes casas coloniales
cubanas. Fallecido a los 70 años de edad,
Frau no pudo ver realizado del todo su sueño, pues el palacio jamás llegó a terminarse
en su parte de arriba.
El drama comenzó a gestarse con la repartición de la herencia entre los tres hijos de

und mysteriöse Herrenhaus auf dem Golfplatz Son Gual rankt, ist eines Romans
würdig. Sie wird erzählt von Pedro Cantallops (Sant Jordi, Mallorca, 1938), einem
Mann, der die Geschichte als Augenzeuge miterlebte. Cantallops hat sein ganzes Leben als
Wächter auf der Finca Son Gual gearbeitet;
seine 1911 geborene Mutter schaffte auf den
Feldern des Landgutes, auf denen sich heute
der Golfplatz Son Gual befindet.
Der Mann, der den Bau des Herrenhauses in
Auftrag gab, hieß Miquel Frau. Frau, ein einfacher Maurer, kaufte auf einer Reise nach
Cuba eine Menge Lotterielose, die er nach
seiner Rückkehr unter seinen malorquinischen Freunden verkaufen wollte. Aber keiner
seiner Freunde wollte die Lose haben und so
blieb Frau auf ihnen sitzen. Dann kam die
Überraschung, die Miquel Fraus Leben und
das seiner Familie für immer verändern sollte: er hatte den Hauptpreis gewonnen! Mit
dem unerwarteten Geldsegen erwarb Frau
die Ländereien und ließ ein Herrenhaus nach
dem Vorbild der großen kubanischen Kolonialhäuser errichten. Mit 70 Jahren starb
Frau ohne seinen Traum, die Fertigstellung
des Hauses, erlebt zu haben, dessen oberer
Teil niemals zu Ende gebaut wurde.
Die Tragödie begann mit der Aufteilung
des Erbes unter den drei Söhnen Fraus; ein
vierter Sohn war bereits früh verstorben.
The story surrounding the imposing yet
mysterious palace that presides over
part of the Son Gual golf course is worthy of a novel. We heard it direct from a
man - Pedro Cantallops (Sant Jordi, Mallorca, 1938) – who experienced the events we
are about to relate first-hand. Cantallops
worked his whole life as a security guard
on the Son Gual estate, and his mother,
who was born in 1911, used to work on the
lands now occupied by the golf course.
The man who had the palace built was called Miquel Frau, and he was a simple stonemason. During a trip to Cuba, Frau purchased a large number of lottery tickets to
sell to his friends on his return to Mallorca.
Apparently none of these friends wanted
to buy the lottery tickets from him, so he
had to keep them all himself. The surprise
that changed the life of Miquel Frau and his
family was that they won first prize!... Frau
used this fortune to buy all the land and
decided to construct a palace identical to
the big Cuban colonial mansions. Since he
passed away at the age of 70, Frau was never able to fully realise his dream, because
the upper section of the palace was never
completed.
Drama began to brew with the distribution
of the inheritance amongst Frau’s three

aquellos años, Son Gual era una gran explotación con más de 500 ovejas, 300 vacas,
200 cerdos, almendros, grano, etc., trabajados por más de 40 jornaleros. Los hijos
no se pusieron de acuerdo con el reparto,
si bien finalmente la parte de Son Gual que
ocupaba el palacio le tocó al que se llamaba
Juan.
Según relata Pedro Cantallops, este señor,
Juan, era una excelente persona, sencilla y
muy educada, que siempre se preocupaba por sus empleados. Sin embargo tenía
una lacra que no le dejaba vivir en paz: su
esposa, Angelina. Según varios testigos directos, la tal Angelina era una mujer fea de
cara, pero con muy buen tipo, aficionada
a traer al palacio a hombres mucho más
jóvenes que ella para desarrollar una actividad sexual desenfrenada. Y eso, ante las
barbas de su marido, cada vez más triste
y apático.
Hasta que Don Juan no pudo más y un día,
dentro del palacio, se voló la cabeza de un
disparo con su escopeta. En el techo de
la casa, tal como nos enseña Pedro Cantallops, todavía hoy pueden observarse
nítidamente los agujeros de las balas que
aquel trágico suceso. Dicen que Don Juan
había adquirido deudas que cada vez lo tenían más desbordado. Sin embargo, nadie
duda que el suicidio se debió a la vida disipada que llevaba su mujer.
Por cierto que, nada más fallecer su marido, Angelina intentó vender Son Gual, si
bien Don Juan, previsor, había dejado todo
el testamento a sus tres hijos, que no pudieron venderlo hasta que fueron mayores
de edad. Tras varios años de estar en manos de una inmobiliaria, la propiedad finalmente fue adquirida por la familia Pamer,
actual propietaria de Son Gual.
Damals war Son Gual ein großes Landgut mit 500 Schafen, 300 Kühen und 200
Schweinen sowie Mandelbäumen und Getreidefeldern, das von mehr als 40 Tagelöhnern bewirtschaftet wurde. Die Söhne konnten sich nicht einigen, doch schließlich
fiel der Teil von Son Gual, auf dem das Herrenhaus stand, an Juan.
Juan, so erzählt Pedro Cantallops, war ein
guter Mensch, einfach jedoch sehr gebildet
und immer um seine Arbeiter besorgt. Eines ließ ihn jedoch nicht in Frieden leben
und das war seine Ehefrau Angelina. Wie
mehrere Zeitzeugen berichten, war die Angetraute hässlich von Angesicht, hatte jedoch eine traumhafte Figur. Angelina hatte
die Angewohnheit, blutjunge Männer zu
sich ins Herrenhaus einzuladen, um dann
ihren sexuellen Neigungen freien Lauf zu
lassen. Und dies alles ohne Heimlichkeiten,
vor der Nase ihres Gatten, der mit jedem
Tag apathischer und trauriger wurde.
Schließlich ertrug es Don Juan nicht mehr
und eines Tages erschoss er sich im Herrenhaus mit einer Schrotflinte. Pedro Cantallops zeigt die Einschüsse, die noch heute
deutlich an der Zimmerdecke zu sehen sind
und an das tragische Ereignis erinnern.
Man sagt, Don Juan hätte Schulden gehabt,
die ihm immer mehr zusetzten. Trotzdem
zweifelt niemand daran, dass der eigentliche Auslöser seines Selbstmords die ungezügelte Schamlosigkeit seiner Frau war.
Gleich nach dem Tod ihres Mannes wollte Angelina Son Gual verkaufen, aber Don
Juan hatte in weiser Voraussicht ein Testament zugunsten seiner drei Söhne gemacht. Diese, da noch minderjahrig, konnten
das Landgut zunächst nicht verkaufen.
Nachdem Son Gual mehrere Jahre bei einer Immobilienfirma zum Verkauf stand,
erwarb es die Familie Pamer, die noch immer Eigentümerin von Son Gual ist.

We should bear in mind that, at the time,
Son Gual was a huge farm with over 500
sheep, 300 cows, 200 pigs, almond trees,
cereals, etc., worked by more than 40 farm
hands. The heirs failed to reach an agreement regarding the distribution, although
the part of Son Gual occupied by the palace
went to the son called Juan.
According to Pedro Cantallops, this man,
Juan, was an excellent person – simple and
very polite – who always took care of his
employees. However, he had a burden, one
that did not let him live in peace: his wife,
Angelina. According to several direct witnesses, this Angelina was a woman with a
very ugly face, but a lovely figure, who was
fond of bringing much younger men than
herself to the palace to engage in uncontrolled sexual activity. And she did so right
under the nose of her increasingly sad and
apathetic husband.
Until finally, Juan reached the end of his
tether and blew his brains out with his
shotgun in the palace. One can still clearly
see the holes from the bullets testifying to
this tragic event on the ceiling, as Pedro

BiG is the name of the company that constitutes absolute

Señora Pamer, en los pasados meses usted ha trabajado con el método Logical
Golf. ¿Le ha ayudado este método y, en
caso afirmativo, cómo?
Sin exagerar, el método de aprendizaje y el
diseño de las clases de Logical Golf son únicos e incomparables. Para mí ha sido una
experiencia totalmente nueva, aun llevando
20 años en el deporte de golf. Por primera
vez y a través de un análisis de video y otras
herramientas, me han ilustrado el empuje
con el palo de manera clara y sencilla. Por
fin tengo la sensación de haber comprendido el desarrollo del mismo y ahora puedo
poner en práctica mis nuevos conocimientos. Mis drives ya son más largos y los golpes
de búnker, que antes odiaba, ahora me resultan hasta fáciles. Además, he cogido confianza de mi juego. Al adaptarse a los puntos
fuertes de cada jugador, este método resulta
muy adecuado no sólo para profesionales y
versados handicapers sino también para los

¿Cuál es su visión para Son Gual en los
próximos años?
Queremos conseguir continuamente mejoras en todas las áreas del club de golf, poniendo especial atención a la academia de
golf, ya que es nuestra “insignia”, nuestro
“mascarón de proa”. Con Logical Golf y Tim
Holroyd hemos encontrado el método y el
socio perfectos para satisfacer nuestras exigencias y las de nuestros clientes.
Aparte, está previsto ampliar las posibilidades de entrenar, ya que a lo largo de esta
primavera hemos registrado una verdadera avalancha de afluencia de jugadores
profesionales y grupos de turistas de golf
y para la próxima temporada del otoño de
2011/2012 también tenemos una elevada
demanda. En total y comparando la temporada con los años anteriores, podemos decir
que hay crecimiento en todas las áreas del
club de golf y en el futuro, claro está, queremos consolidar nuestra posición. Y Logical

Methode Logical Golf gearbeitet. Hat Ihnen diese Methode geholfen und wenn ja
warum?
Die Lehrmethode und Unterrichtsgestaltung
von Logical Golf ist, ohne zu übertreiben,
einmalig und außergewöhnlich. Für mich
war es eine ganz neue Erfahrung in meiner
mehr als 20-jährigen Golfkarriere. Erstmals
wurde mir der Golfschwung anhand einer
Videoanalyse und mit diversen Übungsmitteln einfach und vor allem nachvollziehbar
illustriert. Ich habe jetzt endlich das Gefühl,
den Ablauf richtig verstanden zu haben und
umsetzen zu können. Meine drives sind nicht nur länger geworden, auch die bisher gehassten Bunkerschläge fallen mir jetzt leicht.
Auβerdem habe ich Vertrauen in mein Spiel
bekommen. Die Methode ist nicht nur für
Profis und gute Handicaper geeignet, sondern auf alle Spielstärken exakt abgestimmt.

Wir möchten stetig und in allen Bereichen

Mrs. Pamer, over recent months you have
been working with the Logical Golf method. Has this method helped you and, if
it has, how?
To be absolutely honest, the learning and
design method of the Logical Golf classes
is unique and incomparable. For me it was
a totally new experience, even though I
have been playing golf for 20 years. For the
first time, using a video analysis and other
tools, the swing of the club was shown to
me in a clear, simple fashion. At last I have
the feeling I understand its evolution and
now I can put my new knowledge into
practice. My drives are longer now, and
bunker shots, which I used to hate, are
now even easy for me. And I have become
more confident in my game. By adapting
to the strong points of each individual player, this method is highly appropriate not
only for professionals and those with low
handicaps, but also for amateurs. Logical
Golf is also very entertaining, and without
doubt a worthwhile investment.
This decision is intended to bestow a
new facet and image on the Son Gual
golf academy, as well as extend the club’s
range of services. What is your vision for
Son Gual over the next few years?
We want to continuously achieve improvements in all the areas of the golf club, paying
particular attention to the golf academy, as
it is our “insignia”, our “flagship”. In Logical
Golf and Tim Holroyd we have found the
perfect partner and method to satisfy both
our demands and those of our clients.
Moreover, we plan to increase training opportunities, since throughout this spring
we have recorded an authentic avalanche
in terms of influx of professional players
and groups of golfing tourists, and for the
coming autumn 2011/2012 season we have
a high demand. In total, and comparing the
season to previous years, we could say that
there is growth in all the areas of the golf
club and in the future, naturally, our aim
