Answer:
The „MediaWorkStation“ has not been designed and developed for use under
Windows™ VISTA. The program can be run under Windows™ VISTA, however, if
you take the following aspects into account:

1. Preparation of the installation
In order to give the programme access to all folders and settings necessary for
proper operation of the MWS you must disable the „User Account Control (UAC)“,
which in VISTA is active by standard. Follow the steps below to disable the UAC:
- Open settings for user accounts (start Î system settings Î user accounts and
legal protection for youth Î user accounts Î control for user accounts on or off)
- Remove (click off) the marker in the check box “Use user account control”.
- Confirm and restart the computer.
2. Installation
During installation, it is essential to observe the instructions given by the installation
wizard. Follow the steps below to carry out the installation:
- Log on as administrator.
- Start the installation as described on the data carrier or in the attached file
„SetupInfo_xx.rtf“.
- Follow the instructions given by the installation wizard.
- The included programme „Elecard“ will not be installed. Confirm the information
„This application has not been designed for this operating system“ in the window
„Setup V1.90“ (maybe in the background). Note: The programme „Elecard“ serves
the purpose of playing MPEG-Videos, which under VISTA is possible without
additional software.

When installing MWS 1.0 there will be no updating of DirectX™. The window
“DirectX Setup” prompts the message: “a new version of DirectX has already
been installed”. Confirm this message and continue the installation.
3. Adjustment of the configuration
„MediaWorkStation“ must be run under Windows™ XP compatibility mode. Follow
the steps below to set the mode:
- Open the context menu of the programme link on the desktop by mouse click
(secondary mouse button) and select the “compatibility” index from the features.
- From the range „Run programme in compatibility mode” select „Windows XP SP
2“.
- Set the marker to „Disable desktop layout“, in order to run the programme without
aero surface and thus achieve an optimal video presentation.
- Adopt modifications.
When using a graphics card with ATI graphics controller the video presentation can
be optimised by adjusting the deinterlacing settings. Follow the steps below:
- Start the „ATI Catalyst Center“.
- From the range „Video“ / „Avivo-Quality“ under deinterlacing select the „Bob“
mode.
- Adopt modifications.
4. Known restrictions
The help system used by the „MediaWorkStation“ is no longer supported under
Windows™ VISTA, which means, that the programme does not provide contextsensitive assistance. The system will prompt a standard message instead of the help
index. By now we do not know, whether or not the help system will be supported in
the future within the context of a VISTA update. The help index can be displayed by
using alternative programmes such as the „HelpExplorer“
(http://www.kamasoftware.com/helpexplorer.php).
In the document, all details stating compatibility have been checked with „Windows™
Vista Ultimate Edition“ and are analogously true for all other versions of the operating
system.
