It remains unclear for the viewer which of the devices actually fulfil their purposes, and which only seem to. Concrete experiments merge with fictional narratives. I photographed these machines with an analog camera. The machines expose themselves as they are lit by the bulbs. The electricity for the bulbs is being supplied by the electricity emitted from the machines. 2 After the analog developing of the negatives, I manually exposed a print onto photo paper. Specialized work techniques call for special tools. I commissioned tools for copper thieves from several artists, which I then further altered and demonstrated in action. The tools are presented as devices in the photo series Copper Thieves. In the exhibition their various functions were documented with videos and experimental set-ups. We trained wilderness survival skills, building bombs, manufacturing drugs, sabotage, as well as going underground and covering the tracks of our existence. The instructions, as well as a theoretical analysis of the workshop themes, were collaged from texts and construction plans from different sources: Anarchist Cookbook, brochures of the German armed forces and their Department for Future Analysis, the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, Feral Faun, K-Hole, Michael Ruppert Phoenix, Class War Council Survivalist Forum, Timothy Mitchell, Tiqqun ZOZ [Dahdahdididahdahdahdahdahdidit] The installation ZOZ [Dahdahdididahdahdahdahdahdidit] is the fragmentary illustration of a dystopian landscape through different found objects, slide projections, and video material. Models and techniques of visualization taken from scientific and archaeological research contexts are used and activated. The finds and relics, categorized in the process of artistic work, tell a nonlinear story. It is about the “Floatpeople,” who are on their way to a better future after an apocalyptic event. The research results show that the survivors were floating on a raft, trying to navigate with the aid of a DIY system of communication and notation. Tools, clothing, navigation carpets as well as other documents and relics outline their practice. This is examined and interpreted in a fictional laboratory. The imaginary archaeology refers to symbols, materials and structures – some of which are familiar – that refer both to the apocalypse and its accompanying “fresh start.” Exhibition view The Primal Myth: video loop 9.35 min. The mysterious men are members of the Bavarian secret society “Gugelmänner,” and faithful monarchists. Besides separatist aspirations for an independent Bavaria, up until today their goal is solve what they believe to have been the murder of their king. The legacy of Ludwig II. is extremely contentious. It stands for a passion for the arts, insane architectural enterprises and homoerotic friendships. The death of the so-called fairy tale king in Lake Starnberg under circumstances that remain unclear today, as well as his legacy, are the stuff of legends. Several photographic and sculptural works engage with the myth of the fairytale king and the secret society of the Guglmänner. Here, while preserving their past they establish a new civilisation. The work explores the creative potential inherent in every form of devastation. Mai 2015 Möglichkeitsmensch, zusammen mit Manuel Birnbacher Ausstellungsraum let´s implement some little errors Catalog, project group UdK Verlag, 2008 In co-operation with Olafur Eliasson‘s Institute for Spatial Experiments and Otto Rössler The point of departure for this project was a three-day event with the biochemist and theorist Professor. Dr. Otto E. Rössler. During the annual UdK open studios event, Rössler held a lecture with a focus on the “CERN experiment” and black hole theories. Rössler‘s theories are disputed in scientific circles, and he is sometimes characterized as a mad scientist. One year after the event in May 2010, an exhibition was presented in the underground vault of the Pfefferberg, a former brewery in Berlin. It featured research results as well as artwork which was developed based on the lecture.
