Description
Medical and surgical treatment of liver disease has
advanced significantly in the last decade, but the choices
in selecting the appropriate treatment at the appropriate
time can be difficult, particularly in hepatitis C and
hepatocellular carcinoma. This educational activity will
help providers decide how to best treat these liver disease
patients and make difficult clinical decisions to improve
patient outcomes and quality of life.
Objectives
• identify common signs and symptoms of liver disease
to initiate appropriate management, including cancer
screening, medications and lifestyle changes
• evaluate signs of decompensation of liver disease and
take appropriate action for referral
• describe newer surgical modalities
