STEPS TO END FAMILY VIOLENCE
New York, New York
STEPS to End Family Violence provides comprehensive services for domestic
violence survivors throughout New York City. We seek a Clinical Supervisor for
our children’s therapy program. This is a part-time temporary position available
until December 2008 with possibility of leading to permanent, full-time status.
Responsibilities:
• Provide clinical and programmatic supervision to 2-3 MSW interns, a
Therapeutic Child Care Provider, and 1 MSW clinician in our Teen
Relationship Abuse Prevention Program.
• Carry small play therapy caseload.
• Provide training and outreach to outside agencies.
• Coordinate group programming and facilitate groups as needed.
• Manage intake process and maintain client database.
• Evaluate program progress and produce quarterly reports for our
funders.
• Attendance at various stakeholder meetings and events.
Requirements:
• MSW, LCSW
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience (post-masters).
• Experience in the fields of domestic violence or trauma.
• Ability to work one evening per week until 8 pm.
• Creative problem solver and excellent multitasking skills
• This is a part-time 21 to 25 hours per week M-F position.

Consumer Quality Initiatives, Inc. (CQI) is a mental health consumer-driven
research, evaluation and quality improvement organization based in Boston,
Massachusetts. CQI utilizes a community-based Participatory Action Research
framework, with an emphasis on protocols that are designed to impact policy and
practice directly. CQI also consults locally and nationally on achieving significant
involvement of consumers and family members in promoting mental health
systems transformation and quality improvement.
The person hired for this position will have a lead role in the development of a
rapidly growing non-profit organization, and assist in the development of a
community-based mental health participatory action research center. This person
will lead the continuing development of our program evaluation methodologies
and practices, focusing largely on qualitative methods.

Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in and lead participatory action research and evaluation
projects;
• Conduct research interviews and focus groups at various locations;
• Conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysis;
• Work with research partners to disseminate research findings;
• Meet with mental health providers, managed care and state agency
representatives, and other funding sources/partners to discuss the scope
and purpose of our work.
• Educate community members and staff on qualitative research
methodologies
• Coordinate and schedule interviews; arrange for interviewer coverage in a
portion of eastern Massachusetts and as needed;
Qualifications:
• Masters degree, PhD preferred
• Possession of excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Flexible and able to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with qualitative methods
• Experience with Word and Excel; Access and SPSS helpful;
• Interest in promoting the collective voice of consumers and family
members;
• Living with or in recovery from a mental illness; or having been a person in
the life of someone with a mental illness;
• Ability to travel throughout Massachusetts, and occasionally outside of the
state, for research related activities;
This person will report directly to the Executive Director. Salary will be
commensurate with education and experience. CQI provides excellent benefits

Description:
Roles and Responsibilities: • Serve as a central resource for regulatory and
human subject issues for Foundation personnel conducting clinical, basic, and
operations research in the US and internationally. • Maintain essential
documents/regulatory binders that will serve to demonstrate compliance with
good clinical practice (GCP), regulatory, Foundation, and sponsor specific
policies and procedures for international collaborative studies related to HIV
infection in women and children. • Assist in the regulatory oversight and
coordination of Foundation multi-center, multi-country studies. • Prior to the start
of a Foundation research study, ensure all proper regulatory documents have
been approved and that all documents, CRF, databases, monitoring/auditing
requirements have been completed. • Maintain detailed knowledge of all
assigned protocols and ensure that the study personnel adhere to all protocol
requirements to ensure the validity of the research data. • Be responsible for
ensuring that all research studies maintain accurate and up-to-date regulatory
file. Provide quality assurance of all essential documents maintained by the local
personnel on site (e.g. source documents in participant files, laboratory
documentation, and participant consent forms). This may be accomplished
through periodic site visits for review of these documents, close communication
by conference calls and email with onsite personnel, and facilitation of training of
onsite regulatory. • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for
Foundation research activities and assist with the development of site SOPs;
ensure that SOPs are maintained and available to staff as appropriate;
coordinate and ensure review of applicable SOPs by staff on a timely basis;
oversee benchmarking of SOPs. • Assist with the process for site communication
with local IRBs, including coordination of activities between all IRBs involved in a
given protocol. Communicate regularly with site study personnel to ensure timely
submission of annual renewals, study approvals, adverse event reports, and
other correspondence. • Identify and coordinate training for US and international
staff that meets regulatory requirements, including human subjects research
training and GCP training.
Qualifications:
• Nursing or BA/BS degree in health-related field. • Minimum three years
experience in clinical/operational research, regulatory affairs, and/or study
monitoring. Experience with research in developing countries is a plus. • In depth
knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, ICH Guidelines, NIH, CDC, OHRP, and
federal regulations for human subject participation in clinical research
Knowledge/Skills: • French and/or Portuguese language skills preferred • Must
have excellent organizational skills, initiative, and be capable of functioning
independently with minimal supervision. • Excellent attention to detail and follow
through. • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to follow multiple,
detailed activities across a variety of protocols. • Excellent interpersonal, oral,
