The Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) buses serve
the city of Detroit and many suburban communities. This system map provides detailed route information that will assist
you with your travel on DDOT. To provide ease of use, routes
are color coded to identify direction of travel. The color coded
system is also used on the route schedules and bus stop signs.

SCHEDULES
After determining where you are, where you want to go, and
which route(s) are necessary to get there, you may need individual schedules for the bus routes you want to ride. Most
routes operate throughout the day and evening until 1a.m.; 8
routes operate 24-hours. DDOT bus schedules have time points
noted along the bus route which help you determine what
time the bus will reach your bus stop. To obtain a printed bus
schedule by mail or for information on where to obtain schedules at neighborhood locations , call DDOT at (313) 933-1300.

The Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) does not
discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin,
age, handicap, sex or sexual orientation. Complaints may be
filed with the following agencies:
DDOT provides local service (regular service that makes all stops
along the route), limited services (routes that make limited stops
at major intersections), and enhanced service to regular routes
during special events.
Map
Major streets are identified for your convenience. Routes are
designated by name and by number for easy identification. On
the map, look for the bus routes nearest your starting and ending
points. Make sure to note where it may be necessary to transfer
to another route to complete your trip.
Using the Farebox
The farebox offer convenient features that allow
you to board the bus with
ease. The farebox accepts
U.S. coin and paper currency only – up to a $5
bill. Fares may be paid
using cash or one of DDOT’s convenient fare cards.
Identify Your Bus Stop
DDOT has approximately 9,000 bus stops.
More that 1,600 of these bus stops have
shelters that provide some comfort and
convenience to passengers waiting for
the bus. New bus stop signs are being
installed along DDOT bus routes. Until
the installation is complete, you may
still find some bus stops with old signs.
Requesting a Transfer
If you will be connecting to another route, a transfer may be purchased at the time fare payment is made. Transfers are valid for
two hours. If you must ride a third bus, ask the driver of the second
bus to “double” your transfer. Doubling a transfer adds thirty minutes to the two-hour transfer time. (Invalid transfers are subject to
questioning by the driver)
Identifying Your Bus
To be sure you are boarding the correct coach, check the display
head sign located on the outside front of the coach, above the
windshield.

The Detroit Department of Transportation is excited to introduce
its new Detroit Mobility 1st (DM1) service, which is a centralized mobility center focused on enhancing service for eligible
elderly, disabled, and lower-income riders within DDOT’s service area. DM1 serves as the umbrella under which all targetrider services are coordinated for the city of Detroit.
DM1’s service center is housed within DDOT’s Main Office to
coordinate the service groups: Rider Eligibility, Call Center, Service Providers, Programs & Services, Capital Resources, Mobility
Training, Quality Assurance, and Mobility Outreach. Collectively, these groups produce the service coordination needed for
area-wide service enhancements.
DM1 promotes a Collection of Programs & Services (COPS),
which is funded by grants and DDOT, and is designed to satisfy
eligible rider’s individual transit needs. Riders apply through
DM1 to request certification for any of the following COPS:
• Reduced Fares: The DDOT program that permits
eligible elderly and mobility disabled individuals to access
DDOT’s fixed-route service, during non-peak hours of
operation, at a reduced fare. (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
to 6 a.m.).
• MetroLift (ADA Paratransit): The DDOT program
that permits riders who are unable to independently navigate to, oard, ride, and exit from fixed-route services
access to a curb-to-curb service.
MetroLift
Para Plus: The grant program that permits riders who are
unable to independently navigate to, board, ride, and exit from fixed-route services; and who require assistance between the curb and door of each location, access to a door-to-door service.
• Senior Plus: The grant program that permits age 65 or older
riders, who require the use of a mobility aid, and who are ineligible
for MetroLift, limited access to DDOT’s fixed-route service.
•
Job Connect: The grant program that permits riders who
qualify as “low-income” and are in need of transportation to/from employment, training, and/or human services-related
commitments, access to a curb-to-curb service.
•
Life Support: The grant program that permits riders who are
diagnosed with illnesses that require frequent and reoccurring
medical procedures, which result with aftereffects that impair the
rider’s ability to navigate fixed-route services, access to a curb-to-
curb service.
•
Opt-To-Ride: The grant program that offers riders who are
determined eligible for MetroLift, Job Connect, or Life Support, the
option to access DDOT’s more economical fixed-route service
instead.
• Share-A-Ride: The grant program that permits a group of at
least five (5) eligible riders, who share a common pick-up and/or
drop-off ocation, transportation to suburban area locations.
• Grab-A-Cab: The grant program that permits riders to request
and receive “same-day” transportation services.
Additional information on Detroit Mobility 1st may be obtained from
DDOT’s website at: www.RideDetroitTransit.com or by calling DM1 Customer Care at (313) 933-1300 and selecting options 2 and 3.
After Hours Emergency Assistance
DDOT has an after hours emergency telephone service to assist people
who are handicapped and may be experiencing problems with lift bus
service. The emergency telephone number is (313) 933-1261 (Monday
to Friday starting at 6pm and all day Saturday and Sunday).
Alternative Information Services: Hearing,
Speech, and Sight Impairments
Schedules and other service information may be provided in
the following alternative formats: Braille, large print, audio

DDOT Accessibility Guidelines
DDOT is committed to providing efficient,
reliable accessible transit services to the
residents of the City of Detroit and its surrounding communities. All of DDOT routes
are wheelchair accessible. Many of DDOT buses have a “kneeling” feature that lowers the front entrance of the vehicle to
within inches from the ground for easy ramp access by any
customer with mobility impairments or difficulty using the
front steps. Other, older buses, have a wheelchair lift at the
back door.
DDOT accessibility guidelines cover the following:
• Announcement of stops
• Boarding/alighting
• Wheelchair lift back-up policy
• Securement of mobility devices
• Priority seating/securement area
• Service animals
• Discrimination complaint process

DDOT’s Main Office. Meet members of the management team, hear
the latest information on services, and present your comments and
concerns regarding public transportation.
DDOT Advisory Commission Meeting
Held on the third Wednesday of every month (except July and
August) at the DDOT Main Office from 10 am to 12 pm.
Customer Information
Sharing the Road and improving the commute for
work, school, and leisure!
DDOT introduced the Bikes on Buses pilot project in fall 2008 and
is proud to announce that bike racks will soon be available on
all DDOT buses, improving commuters’ travel options. A number
of stationary racks for bike parking will also be installed at high
transfer points along DDOT routes in 2012. Please let us know if
there is a DDOT bus stop near you that could benefit from bike
parking! Remember to always pass buses on the left when cycling
by them on the road.
•
Use of the racks is free! No additional fare is required for passengers using the bike racks.
• Passengers are responsible
for the loading and unloading
of their bikes. DDOT regulations prohibit drivers from
providing any assistance loading and unloading bicycles.
• Cyclists assume all responsibility for any damage
and/or injury that occurs as a result of their bicycles being on DDOT property.
• DDOT will not be responsible for stolen or damaged bicycles; this includes bicycles that are left at transit centers or on bike racks.
• Bike racks accommodate bicycles with wheels 16” or larger. Bicycles that do not fit securely on the bike rack will not be allowed on the bike rack.
• Bike racks hold two (2) bicycles securely.
• Space on the bike rack is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If a bus arrives and the bike rack is full, please wait for the next bus.
