National Service Scheme (NSS)
University of Calcutta
I on behalf of the University of Calcutta convey my heartiest welcome to Prof. Kausik
Gupta, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, West Bengal State University, other dignitaries
and all the participants of NSS functionaries in the Special Camping Programme on
First Aid Training on Disaster Management organized by the National Service
Scheme of the University of Calcutta in collaboration with Indian Health and Welfare
Mission, Kolkata, at Calcutta University Rowing Club on 24th March, 2013.
This awareness & training programme will help to bring our togetherness in solving

NSS Activities of Ramakrishna Vidyamandir
The different activities of the NSS unit of the college during 2011-12 are :
1)
First Aid Training Camp : Organised in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Health &
Hygiene during 20-22 August 2011, a total of 144 students attended this camp.
2)
Blood Donation Camp: Organised in collaboration with Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, West Bengal. The total number of blood donors was a record 180 persons.
3)
Cloth distribution among needy people: 217 children (126 boys & 91 girls) received one
set of new clothes each during this function organized before the Durga Puja.
4)
Communal Harmony Fund Raising: Participants:- 94 students; Total amount of collection:Rs. 201 787/The collected sum was sent to National Foundation for Communal Hermony, New Delhi, for
the promotion of. Communal Harmony & other philanthropic activities.
5)
All the NSS volunteers participated in the special procession from Dakshineswar to Belur
Math to commemorate the 175th birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna on 22 Feb 2012.
6)
Cancer Foundation of India organized a workshop in the college
‘Howrah Smoke-free project’. The subject of the workshop was — ‘Tobacco, Smoking &
Health Risk.’
7) Regular Activities undertaken on Sundays include cleaning of the college campus, gardening
work etc.
The NSS department of Calcutta University will be felicitated NSS functionaries of the different
colleges on 31 March 2012. Our college has been chosen as one of the six ‘Best Colleges’
under the CU on the basis of NSS activities. A Special Camp of the NSS, catering primarily to
medical’ literacy & needs, is being planned in March 2012.
To commemorate the National Youth Day, was organized in collaboration with the Alumni
Association in the district of Paschim Medinipur. A prize distribution function, a youth-convention and a teachers’ conference were held on 22 January, 2012.
