Kanuga Knitting and Quilting Retreat January 16-19, 2014 Quilting Project Descriptions Dottie Zig-Zag Instructor: Janet Houts Join the Modern Quilt Movement; begin with a favorite unit you know and love, Flying Geese, and put it in a fresh, new setting. You can make the quilt with three columns of geese migrating north, or you can make just one column for a table runner, your choice, for a project that incorporates easy sewing and uses up your scraps, fat quarters, or a selected color palette. Jelly Roll Jambalaya Instructor: Jean Ann Wright It take just one jelly roll to make all of the hexagons in this quilt that incorporates quick sewing methods and the use of a special Hexagon Trim Tool designed by Jean Ann Wright for Creative Grids®. Using Jean Ann’s unique no-math, no-measuring methods the quilter simply has fun sewing shapes that were previously a challenge but are now so easy to sew. Directions for smaller projects using this method are table runner or bed runner. Seed Pods Instructor: Janet Houts This is a simple, modern wall quilt that features appliqué seed pods. Scatter the stems and seed pod shapes to the center panel in your own fashion and then piece the background to complete the quilt. Use Janet’s color palette or choose your favorite color combination to make this fast and fun wall quilt. Bring your own If you are trying to get a project finished and just need some dedicated time to finish it up, bring it along. Instructors will be available to help if you run into a problem and everyone will be available to admire your work!
