The Sioux Lookout Walleye Weekend is a catch and keep tournament which is held on Minnitaki, Abram, Pelican, and Botsford lakes, referred to as MAPB lakes. It is a 2 day tournament and is always held on the second weekend of June. Each team consists of 2 people and you are allowed 4 walleye per day, with a 2 day limit of 8 fish per team. There is a slot size for walleye on MAPB lakes, which is 18.1” to 20.9” or 46-53 cm. Your team is allowed to keep 3 walleye under slot and 1 over, OR 4 walleye under slot size per day. No other fish species may be kept during tournament hours. A total of the 2 day weights will determine the winner. All ties will be awarded to the team with the highest daily weight. 2. The Sioux Lookout Walleye Weekend is limited to the first 60 boats. There will be a 10% overflow, which will allow an extra 6 boats, for a total of 66. We the undersigned, hereby release the Sioux Lookout Walleye Committee, agents, sponsors, host organizers, all other competitors and non competitors, and save harmless from all liability of any kind of damages, injury or death before, during, or due to the competition for which we are registering. We agree to allow photographs, video and names to be used in promotion of this tournament. We agree to allow an observer to enter our boat during tournament hours on any or all tournament days for spot checks. We agree to abide by all the rules set out by the Sioux Lookout Walleye Committee as well as, Ontario fishing regulations for the bodies of water for which this tournament is held. Makes cheques payable to: “Sioux Lookout Anglers and Hunters” Box 1268, Sioux Lookout, Ontario P8N 1B6 3. Entry fee is $400.00 per team plus $20.00 for the big fish contest, for a total of $420.00. Cash payouts will go to the top 10 weights, and is based on 70% of the total registration. The big fish contest is also based on 70% of the number of registrations, and is paid out half on day 1 and half on day 2. The other 30% will go to the Sioux Lookout Anglers and Hunters club. The 30% will be used to run the Walleye Weekend and to promote hunting and fishing initiatives in the Sioux Lookout / Hudson / Lac Seul area. 4. To view all the rules please go to www.siouxlookoutanglershunters.ca 5. The rules meeting will be held downstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion on Friday night. The meeting will run from 6PM to 7PM and one member from each team must attend. You will receive a full copy of the rules, your motor tag and any other information needed for this tournament at this meeting. If your team does not attend the rules meeting you will not be released until after all boats have left and your team has received the rules from the Walleye Director. 6. The Municipality of Sioux Lookout runs all boat launches and any vehicle that uses them must have a boat launch pass. These passes are available at many businesses in Sioux Lookout, as well as the recreation department (arena). Any vehicle without a boat launch sticker will be fined from a by-law officer. Cost of passes are $5 a day, $20 a week or $35 a calendar year. 7. No houseboats or similar cumbersome craft can be used for this tournament, unless authorized by the Walleye Committee. Minimum boat size is 14’. 8. All fish caught must be tagged with plastic zip tags provided by tournament organizers. Tags will be given out at the morning boat check, and any tags not used must be returned to the weigh station at the end of each day. All fish caught must be kept on ice in a cooler or live well. You cannot keep live fish, as per the rules of MAPB lakes. 10. All tournament participants must be in the water and inspected before the 7AM starting time. Boat inspections will take place at the town beach dock. 11. This tournament is a trickle start, beginning at 7AM sharp. Start time for day 1 and 2 will be based on your registration number and boats will be released 2 at a time. 12. At the awards on Sunday our Walleye Committee will be taking regisrations for next year’s tournament. As participants in this year’s tournament you will have a choice to hold a spot for the following year’s Walleye Weekend. This position must be paid for in full by October 31st. If you have not paid for your spot by October 31st your names will be removed and all spots will be based on a first come first serve basis.
