What’s New:
The first few weeks of the season have come and gone. Despite Mother Nature’s attempts at an extended winter, summer has finally arrived and the fish are biting! The first few groups have reported
fantastic fishing. The Walleyes are in the shallow water, in the rocky areas. Our “Big Catch” was
caught on a minnow and jig. The Northerns are also in the shallows—3ft and a stick bait while casting in to shore seems to be the favorite trick.
ICE OUT date at the docks: MAY 20,2014
Although this fish is not the longest so far, here is one of the first
pictures that has been sent in. This Northern is 43” and weighs
19lbs on a jig and a minnow. Way to go Harvey!
With the snow run off and the
spring rain, the water level on
Lac Seul is high. Here is a
current picture of the docks,
notice the incline of the
ramps!
Fishing Tips:
Cap’n Redbeard has been kind enough to pass along some tips for jigs for July
and August fishing. You can place an order by going to their website:
www.capnredbeards.com
His top pick for July and August Lac Seul Walleyes is the 1/4oz Walleye Weapon with a gold blade. Walleye Weapons are deadly when vertical jigging, casting & retrieving and slow trolling. REMEMBER, if you don’t keep your Walleye
Weapon down within one foot of the bottom you won’t need a fillet knife, board,
skillet, grease and shore lunch batter.
