LAUREL OUTLOOK — Wednesday, May 22, 2013 — Section 3, Page 5 Senior Section Park City High School awards 25 diplomas BY KATHLEEN GILLULY Outlook Staff In their 101st commencement, Park City High School awarded 25 diplomas Sunday, May 19. Amid the chords of the Park City Band, graduates and their proud families and guests were treated to a performance of the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” before being welcomed by Jerrica Seabrook. Patrick Audet and Jared Delaney had the honor of presenting the golden grads and the Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively. After a rendition by the Park City Choir of Rascal Flatts’ song “My Wish,” and the senior class slide show came the commencement address. Dr. Deborah Haynes was the speaker. She is originally from Hysham, but is now an associate professor of consumer economics in the department of health and human development at MSU Bozeman. She received her doctorate in consumer economics from Cornell University. In addition to being the program leader for the undergraduate program in family and consumer sciences and for the master’s level program in family financial planning, she also teaches courses in personal finance, consumer economics and family resource management. One of her favorite courses to teach is a large freshman level class in personal finance where she helps students figure out how to get through college without breaking the family bank. Park City’s 2013 class motto is, “Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail,” penned by the poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. Class colors are red, black and silver. The class flower is the Tranvaal Daisy and the class song is “I’m Not Gonna Cry,” performed by Corey Smith. The graduates receiving honors at the Park City Class of 2013 commencement are Taylor Gladson Bernhardt, Cassidy Rae Ford, Miranda Kate McNeil (valedictorian), Taylor Rae Osgood, Jerrica Sabine Seabrook, Kelby Ruth J. Sedgwick, Anina Nicole Story (salutatorian) and Alex Nicole Young. Patrick Audet, Park City school superintendent, spoke to the graduates about their future.
