Forever | November 2015 4 REX’S MESSAGE BECOMING AN EAGLE Eagles don’t just fly, they soar. They are majestic in so many ways and symbolise not only great boldness, but also great courage. When you reflect on what you have achieved in your Forever business, I want you to think of the eagle. When we chose the eagle to represent Forever, and later, the Eagle Manager programme, it was because we recognised how everything it represents mirrors our Forever Business Owners. Every FBO, especially those who have achieved Eagle Manager, displays traits of the eagle: you are leaders; you soar high and teach others to do the same; you are agile and brave; you let go of fear and embrace possibility. Again, the power of the eagle came to mind when I saw the faces of our Eagle Managers in Cancun. The stories I continue to hear of your success, and how you are helping others to succeed, are inspiring, and I enjoy every opportunity to hear more about the exciting things you’re doing with your business. I look forward to seeing new faces at the Eagle Managers’ Retreat every year, but it’s always special to see the familiar ones. Among you are the five-time Eagle Managers who have proven that it’s not only possible to soar to new heights, but it’s also possible to continue to achieve greatness every year. Forever | November 2015 Congratulations to this year’s Eagle Managers and five-time Eagle Managers – your accomplishments prove a dedication to helping others soar. I look forward to seeing you and many more in Greece in 2016. As you continue to succeed in building your business by sharing the Forever products and helping others look better and feel better, remember these words: While most birds find shelter in the midst of a storm, the Eagle soars above it. Be like the Eagle and always rise above. Forever Yours, Rex Maughan Chairman and CEO RECOGNITION 5 NOTHING WILL STOP ME NOW Supervisor // Martin Moulds Sponsor // Tavis Taylor I’ve been with Forever now for about four months but I worked my way up to Supervisor in just five weeks. I’m deaf, therefore it is very hard for me to communicate; it’s been hard for me to approach people, but I am proud of what I have achieved. My background is in computer engineering and I started my own computer repair business back in 2003. I’ve always dreamed of having an office with lots of other computer engineers, but unfortunately for me, that never happened. My business suffered badly back in 2008 when Woolworths, amongst other companies, went bust; they owed my company a lot of money. For years I’ve been trying to let go; I always thought I would get my big office, but unfortunately I had used up all my savings and I ended up with nothing. In 2010 I had a nervous breakdown; I ended up in hospital and I was there for a long time – I suffer from depression and anxiety but I had hit rock bottom. My best friend, Tavis Taylor, came to visit me in hospital and he helped get me back on my feet. Tavis managed to get me a job working with him at Gatwick airport, and I was able to save up so that we could go on a three-week holiday to Canada and New York. It was 2011 and it was my first ever big holiday. In 2013 Tavis moved out to Canada to live and it felt like I’d lost my best friend. I busied myself and spent most of my time looking after my three beautiful daughters – Tia, Caitlyn and Cerys – and I started up another computer company, but I still wasn’t earning enough. Then, in April 2014, my son, Brooklyn, was born. I knew I needed to get another job that would provide some extra income, but this proved hard due to health and safety laws. In July this year, Tavis came back from Canada and he introduced me to Forever. I was already using the products but I had no idea that I could start my own business. When he told me, I decided to go along to my local BP and I joined that same night. I knew the business would be hard but I’m not letting that stop me or get in my way. I go to all the trainings and BPs and I always walk away having learnt something new. I have also started up my own BP and made subtitled videos so that I can encourage and coach other deaf people to live their dreams. I want to help and support deaf people all over the world, helping them to be a part of this loving Forever family. "I knew the business would be hard but I’m not letting that stop me or get in my way." Forever | November 2015 6 BOB’S MESSAGE HAVE THE COURAGE TO COMMIT We have certainly entered November on a high! October saw our first ever Managers Summit in Ireland quickly followed by the UK Managers Summit, and then we had two record breaking Success Day events, with over 1,000 FBOs in attendance in Dublin and over 5,000 attending the ExCel event in London – it’s crazy! I love the excitement at this time of year; every meeting I attend is always full of excited FBOs, the phones are going mad and there is a real buzz about the place. Impending events, like year-end, Chairman’s Bonus, Global Rally and Christmas, have a way of focusing the mind and increasing the energy levels. It’s a great time for you to focus on finishing the year on a real high, and in doing so you will achieve new goals and build firmer foundations for your business in 2016. Historically, between now and Christmas has been a key time for setting up your business to accelerate into the next year. Everyone you know is focusing on what they need to buy for gifts; why can’t they buy from you? Set yourself a goal of talking to all of your friends and family about your amazing products. Having the courage to actually commit to your goals, and to the actions necessary to achieve them, is one of the greatest lessons we can learn in life. One of the major limiting factors for people is the way that they judge the outcome of their activities. Often they are afraid to commit in case they fail; therefore they never really commit so that they won’t have to face the prospect of failing. This means that most people never reach their true potential; they never stretch outside of their comfort zone. “Growth is a process of experimentation, a series of trials, errors and occasional victories. The failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that work.” – Dr Cherie Carter-Scott, from ‘If Life Is a Game, These Are the Rules’. Each time you choose to trust yourself and take action, you can never be quite certain how the situation will turn out: sometimes you are victorious, and sometimes you become disillusioned. The failures however are no less valuable than the successes, if we learn from them. View everything as an opportunity to learn something about yourself, your thoughts or behaviours. When you consider the hardships of your life, the disappointments, hurts or losses, and shift your perception to see them as opportunities for learning or growth, you become empowered. You can take charge of your life and rise to its challenges instead of feeling victimised or defeated. So stay focused until the end of the year; create a sound platform on which to build on next year, and most of all enjoy the journey whilst learning something new about ‘you’ each day. Good luck in all that you do. Bob Parker Country Manager @bobparkerflp www.youtube.com/flpukltd Forever | November 2015 FULL STEAM AHEAD RECOGNITION 7 Assistant Manager // Sara Sciambarella Sponsor // Emma and Chris Leathert Sara and her husband, Giuseppe, who is of Italian heritage, share a beautiful home in Northern England. Growing up Sara always knew she would go out and create her own success, so our Editor, Kate Hodge, wanted to catch upwith her to learn more about her successful business approach… I joined Forever in March 2015 and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life. Before Forever I owned my own salon, but unfortunately I had to close it after having my little boy, Samuel, in 2013. This closure was painful; it had taken many years of time, money and sacrifice to get it to a healthy state, but I just couldn’t afford to run it whilst having time off with my baby. This was lovely at first, but I was missing my career. One day, when I was on maternity leave, I randomly decided to go back on Facebook (I hadn’t been on for two years) and reconnect with an old friend – Emma Leathert. Although I hadn’t spoken to Emma for over ten years, I was intrigued to learn more about her new wellbeing business. She told me about Forever and the opportunities it was giving her and her family and within days I had signed up; I just knew this was the start of something exciting! In April 2015, whilst at the Success Express event, I had my light bulb moment. I saw the vision, and I knew that with hard work and persistence I was capable of achieving it. Within eight weeks of signing up I hit Supervisor, but to be honest, hitting Supervisor so quickly was never planned. It wasn’t until Emma messaged me that I knew anything about it! At this point I still didn’t really even understand the Marketing Plan, but I was excited and willing to talk about the products to anyone who would listen; finally, being told I was a constant chatterbox had paid off! Despite this, I knew getting to the next promotion wasn’t going to be as easy – I needed a team behind me. I realised I needed to do what I’d done with the products but instead speak about the business opportunity, and soon enough I had my team; now my focus is on helping them achieve their goals. The most rewarding part has definitely been the team element. It’s been the cherry on the cake knowing that I’m part of their journey, and I’m excited for us all. Forever has given me more than an extra income; it has given me my drive back. It allows me to be a mummy but also a business owner. Not many companies allow you to do both and I’m eternally grateful to my sponsors and dear friends for thinking of me when they were building their teams. "I just knew this was the start of something exciting!" Forever | November 2015 8 INDEPENDENT, BUT NOT ALONE INDEPENDENT, BUT NOT ALONE! There’s a lot of support on offer; are you taking advantage of it? Forever | November 2015 INDEPENDENT, BUT NOT ALONE 9 It can be a daunting experience working as an independent business owner, and knowing where to turn for support can often be a minefield. But it’s important to recognise that all the most successful people in life, at some stage, will have depended on others to help them along their journey; whether that’s through a mentor, guide books or something more personal. As a Forever Business Owner, the likelihood is you will constantly be learning and developing both yourself and your business, but sometimes it can be difficult to know what is on offer, particularly if your upline is relatively new to the business as well. This short guide is designed to help you build up your confidence, not only by suggesting where to go to for support, but also through encouraging a pro-active approach; one that seeks to promote your independent status. If you want to develop your networking skills even further, then larger events such as Success Express will be of benefit to you. Here you could have the chance to rub shoulders with some of Forever’s most successful Business Owners, as well as mingling with thousands of other FBOs – many of whom will be in a similar position to you. BE BRAVE AND NETWORK We appreciate that, for some people, initiating conversation can be terrifying. Sometimes taking that first step outside of your comfort zone is easier when done behind a screen. If that’s true for you, begin by utilising social media. Networking is absolutely something you need to adopt and become confident in since it enables you to both learn and progress. In fact, progression up Forever’s Marketing Plan is reliant upon networking, and this means you need to look further than your immediate friendship group! Forever events Regularly attending events and trainings is a fantastic way to put your face out into the Forever world, and you are also guaranteed to learn something new whilst you are there. Even if you avoid people the first few times, eventually others will begin to recognise you; plus regular attendance will help you to feel more comfortable, particularly as you become more familiar with other regular attendees. Your area Business Presentation (BP) is the perfect environment to practice networking, and if you are worried about attending on your own, make sure you contact your assigned Area Development Director (ADD) first. Details of your local ADD can be found in the What’s On? section of this magazine. Social media Build your virtual network by messaging FBOs you admire and asking for their advice, but whatever you do, don’t just start adding loads of people randomly. As a general rule, it’s usually more acceptable to follow people on Twitter randomly than adding them as friends on Facebook! However, if you do prefer Facebook, most ADDs run area specific Facebook groups, so it’s always worth joining your local group and initiating conversation here first. YouTube is also an excellent tool that can help build your understanding of the business, but it also provides training videos that will enable you to learn from top FBOs in the comfort of your own home. On-stage testimonials from Success Express events are also released on YouTube. If you find a story you relate to, why don’t you see if you can find that person on social media and start by telling them how much you enjoyed hearing their story? It’s always a good idea to start with a compliment rather than a request! SOCIAL MEDIA /foreveruk @officialforever www.instagram.com/foreveruk www.pinterest.com/foreveruk www.youtube.com/flpukltd www.linkedin.com/company/foreveruk "Progression up Forever’s Marketing Plan is reliant upon networking, and this means you need to look further than your immediate friendship group!" Forever | November 2015 10 INDEPENDENT, BUT NOT ALONE BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE If you feel confident in your business knowledge, you will feel more confident in yourself, and such confidence will make approaching prospects a whole lot easier. The most effective way to develop your business and product knowledge is through research. Attending events and conversing with other FBOs is important, but reading up on key areas shows initiative. Forever websites Foreverknowledge.info and foreverliving.com offer a wide range of resources and content that is really worth exploring. Also, if you are a subscriber to foreverknowledge.info, you will have access to so much more; perhaps this is something to think about investing in? Forever Knowledge was created by the UK to provide FBOs with news, product and incentive information, business tools, FAQs and more. As well as e-magazines, foreverknowledge.info is also home to the Forever magazine archive. If you don’t keep past issues or you recently joined the company, the archive is worth a flick through. You never know if past articles could be of value to your business as it stands in the present. Foreverliving.com also holds a wealth of information, but make sure you are connected to the UK version to ensure content is relevant and compliant to EU regulations. Forever | November 2015 This site offers a lot of downloadable content, such as web banners, forms and literature, but it also offers website templates and access to FLP360°. Forever literature The Sales & Literature Guide (available from product centres, order line or foreverliving.com) is the ultimate catalogue for all our marketing literature and promotional tools. Make sure you regularly refer to the latest version and keep your marketing tools current. EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS Looking within Forever is fundamental when you need to brush up on product knowledge and company policy, but if it is motivation and general business-building skills you are after, it can be helpful to look further afield. Knowledge is King – one of our approved suppliers – provides a wonderful array of books that could help develop your approach to business. Advice books from top entrepreneurs, such as Jim Rohn and Darren Hardy, are worth investing in, particularly if you are looking to be inspired, but the Knowledge is King website – www.knowledgeisking.co.uk – also sells guides to business such as network marketing, prospecting and goal setting – all areas we encourage you to familiarise yourself with. If reading is not something you favour, Knowledge is King also offers audio books – perfect for the car as you journey to prospects or team meetings. INDEPENDENT, BUT NOT ALONE 11 If all else fails… If you still find you are struggling and you have already approached your sponsor and other FBOs, Head Office may be able to help you. There are processes that can be set in motion that may be of help. However, these routes should only be utilised if you feel you have exhausted all other avenues. FBO Support It’s possible that FBO Support can assist you by looking further into your upline and contacting these FBOs to see whether they may be happy to advise or mentor you. However, we cannot guarantee that they will be able to do this; inevitably these FBOs will have their own team to support as well! Re-sponsoring As an absolute last resort, if you are really struggling with your sponsor, you can think about re-sponsoring. This is not a simple process – in fact it’s one that involves solicitors and legal paperwork – so it’s a decision that needs to be carefully considered. There are also certain conditions that must be met in order to be eligible for re-sponsoring; this includes placing your business on hiatus for two years and completing official paperwork. But be warned: you will also lose any downline you have accumulated meaning you will effectively be starting your business again from scratch. If you are struggling, please don’t suffer in silence. Head Office, ADDs and other FBOs are always on hand to help. ADVICE FROM DIAMOND MANAGER JAYNE LEACH: I remember getting involved in Forever (over twenty years ago) and there were no meetings, no trainings, success days or BPs. There was no Advisory Board, global leaders or big achievers; we didn’t have mobile phones or Facebook – we had nothing. It was just me, John, and a flip-chart in our front room. But we had a huge desire to be successful and that meant achieving the Manager position as fast as possible (fourteen weeks to be precise) and then building on that. In the beginning we didn’t understand the power of the Marketing Plan, but we do now, and that same Marketing Plan – the one that you have access to – offers unlimited potential; it’ll give you what you are prepared to work for – and that is the key, what you are prepared to WORK for. Place focus on IPA (Income Producing Activity), and that doesn’t mean hiding behind a computer screen all day! It’s a simple process: use the products, share the products, recruit people, and grow and nurture them to become Managers. You have the ability to make a real difference in people lives (people that you may not have even met yet) and that’s exciting, but you need to create your plan, get serious about it and then work very hard to achieve your goals – remember: whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you are absolutely right! Forever | November 2015 12 RECOGNITION "It’s amazing how much I’ve learnt in such a short space of time, but I’ve absolutely loved every moment. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Alison for showing me this opportunity, and to Forever and everyone else involved. My life has changed massively, for the better, in such a short space of time." Forever | November 2015 RECOGNITION 13 A PASSION FOR BUSINESS Manager // Daniel Watson Sponsor // Alison Thompson In a business saturated by headstrong women, Daniel Watson, an undefeated professional boxer and tattoo artist from Bolton, certainly stands out from the crowd. Our Editor, Kate Hodge, caught up with him at his studio – which is no ordinary tattoo studio – to find out more about why Daniel, a reformed fighter, decided to join Forever. Why did you decide to look at Forever? I have been tattooing now for ten years and I love what I do, but my main passion has always been business. I had always been interested in network marketing and I researched several companies, but few offered me something I could believe in. That’s when my physio (now mentor), Alison Thompson, introduced me to Forever. It was July 6th 2015, just two days after I had spoken to Alison, when I decided to sign up. With her help I had my first product launch party; I invited my mum and her friends, my sister and her friends and also some people that I thought may be interested in joining my business. It was a success, and from this I managed to get a few regular customers and my first few team members. Within twenty days I had been promoted to Supervisor, and I decided that I was going to by-pass Assistant Manager and go straight for Manager instead. How did you see the business fitting in with your lifestyle? I decided to capitalise on the fact I am a male in a predominantly female business; I certainly wasn’t going to let it worry me. I knew I had many male friends that would do well, and I knew once they saw me achieving they would join too, and many have. Integrating the products into my daily life became a natural thing; Argi+ and the shakes fit with my sporting side and the Aloe Vera Gelly can even be used on tattoos once they have passed the initial healing point. I also often do the C9 and post my progress on Facebook, and since my network knows I’m a professional boxer, the good results I achieve help build belief in the products. Why do you think you have been so successful? I also focus a lot of my time on studying the business. I knew that developing my knowledge would form a massive part of effective prospecting, and I wanted to be able to quickly answer any question or doubt. I live and breathe business, and those that know me know I wouldn’t risk investing my time in something that doesn’t work. Daniel’s story illustrates that Forever really can fit around anyone; it doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is, as long as you have the drive and belief, you can make the business work! I was determined to achieve Manager in August, and by the 16th of the month I had successfully secured the position. Part of this fast progression was down to the support I was giving to my customers. I asked them to recommend the products to anyone they thought would benefit from them, and within no time I had around twenty customers and ten people on my team. People keep asking me what my secret is, but it just takes hard work and dedication; anyone can do it as everything you need is already there for you. The products appeal to a wide range of people so it’s easy to connect with a market, but I’m not afraid to get stuck in – I’ll happily run a makeup party if necessarily! Forever | November 2015 14 RECOGNITION KEEP THINGS PRACTICAL Senior Manager // Samantha Webb Sponsor // Natalie Heeley I joined Forever in November 2012 and I managed to achieve Supervisor within the first two months, but I ended up staying at this position for a year; it turned out I had recruited people who didn’t have the same vision I did! I was frustrated as my business wasn't going anywhere and I felt stuck. I had also had a lot of bad luck with Lucia, my daughter – she was in and out of hospital – and I also felt my partner didn't believe in me 100%. However, I was determined not to give up as I could see the potential Forever could offer me and my family. Another problem was that, in the beginning, I never took the goal-setting seriously. When I did finally give it a go, the following month, I hit Assistant Manager and Manager. I couldn’t believe it and it was at that moment that I decided to take goal-setting more seriously; I got to work and created a dream board. However, every time I tried to set myself an ambitious goal, I felt like something was holding me back. People’s comments would make me doubt myself and I’d be made to think they were too unrealistic and way out of reach. This was a huge setback for me and definitely slowed my business down. It became clear that something needed to change so I took some time out of my business to work on my self-belief. I read several motivational books and invested in my mindset by listening to ‘My Blueprints’ by Dave O’Connor every morning and evening. This helped to block out the negativity and I very quickly started to see a difference in my business. I made sure I was consistent with my activity, leafleting, carding and contacting my market every week; I've even found a couple of diamonds lately because of this activity. I once heard Julianna Beavan share a statement at a Managers’ event I attended. She said, "Prosperity and abundance is coming my way. Come on champion let's get to work; how many lives are we going to change today?" I now say this to myself out loud every morning, and Lucia always finishes it off shouting, “I'm gonna find my diamond!” "I never took the goal-setting seriously. When I did finally give it a go, the following month, I hit Assistant Manager and Manager." Forever | November 2015 HOW TO 15 FBO ‘HOW TO’ VIDEO TUTORIALS Success very rarely happens overnight. In reality, lasting success is birthed from wise decisions, and such decisions can usually only be made when the decision-maker has a solid understanding of the situation they are making a judgement on. However, we understand that sometimes customers and prospects can ask difficult questions, and it’s likely that you are still learning the structures and processes yourself, that is why Head Office continues to create ways that enable you to develop your knowledge further. We want to provide you with the educational support you need to build the lasting success you deserve. Recently, with help from FBO Support, Video and Content Editor Matthew O’Neill put together several helpful tutorial videos that address many of the complicated questions Forever Business Owner Support is asked. These videos, available via our YouTube channel, are designed to educate and advise Forever Business Owners in an accessible and efficient way. Overleaf is an outline of what each video covers... Matthew OʼNeill / Video and Content Editor Forever | November 2015 16 HOW TO International sponsoring If you wish to expand your business by sponsoring people from other countries, this video tutorial will help you understand the stages you need to follow. The process outlined will allow you to set yourself up correctly and efficiently, and it also explains a little bit about how different countries operate in terms of sponsoring. This will hopefully prepare you so that you know what to expect, and also what to do if a country does not have a Forever Head Office. The video, narrated by Gary, also explains what will happen with the international case credits you accumulate and how this may impact your progression. Gurj Seehra Web Content and IT Administrator Web platforms Gurj Seehra, our Web Content and IT Administrator, provides a breakdown of foreverknowledge.info and FLP360°. If you are struggling to decide which platform to subscribe to, this video clearly explains the difference between the two platforms and gives a detailed outline of which tools each site offers when you subscribe. Gary Thyeson Business Owner Support Team Leader Re-sponsoring Gary Thyeson, Business Owner Support Team Leader, explains what conditions must be met in order for FBOs to change their sponsor. Although re-sponsoring is possible, this is not necessarily a straightforward process, and it is important that Business Owners are aware of what will be required of them if they do wish to pursue this. This tutorial clearly outlines the process required and also the consequences that the FBO may face if they choose to go down this route. Marketing Plan If you’re struggling to get your head around the Forever Marketing Plan, make sure you watch this informative video tutorial. Aimeé Nicholson, Business Owner Support's Product Specialist, breaks down the different levels (e.g. Novus Customer, Supervisor etc.) and explains exactly what FBOs need to do in order to move up to the next level on the Marketing Plan. Bonus payments Our Digital Marketing Team Leader, Ronald Kafesu, explains exactly what is meant by ‘Bonus Payments’ through this video tutorial, designed to help you understand a little bit more about how Forever will pay you. Ronald breaks down payments such as Novus Customer Profit, Retail Profit, Personal Bonus and Volume Bonus. He explains how you qualify for each, and how you can expect to receive each payment once you qualify. Sixty-day money-back Forever are proud to be able to provide you with a sixty-day money-back guarantee; we believe this illustrates just how confident we are in the quality of our products. Aimeé, from Business Owner Support, explains how the process works and the common misconceptions that could cause issues for FBOs if they are unclear of the process. Aimeé explains the impact on case credits, what FBOs need to do in order to benefit from the policy and how they should approach refunds with customers. Sponsoring new prospects When you’re new to the business it can be fairly daunting knowing you need to approach others, particularly if you are still learning yourself. Our experts in FBO Support continue to answer your key questions in order to build your confidence and expand your business. This video takes a closer look at how new FBOs can approach sponsoring. This tutorial explains the process behind sponsoring – including the differences between paper and online-based application forms – and the requirements that your prospect will have to commit to in order to complete the process. Stuart Kennedy Complaints and Compliance Team Leader Aimeé Nicholson Product Specialist Compliance series This mini-series, narrated by Stuart Kennedy – Forever UK’s Complaints and Compliance Team Leader – is particularly Forever | November 2015 HOW TO 17 The 'How To' videos will be hidden from the public so you need to make sure you input one of these web addresses if you would like access to them: YouTube – http://bit.ly/HowToFAQs Forever Knowledge – http://bit.ly/ ForeverknowledgeFAQs important to take note of; failing to follow these guidelines could mean you inadvertently breach Forever’s Code of Conduct and Company Policy. Below are three areas where, historically, FBOs have struggled to adhere to correct and compliant processes: Advertising Forever’s products You are hopefully aware that only certain things can be said when promoting our products, but it’s often confusing knowing what exactly you are allowed to say. This video begins by explaining why producing compliant material is so important and which governing bodies dictate the guides we must follow. Stuart gives an overview of the ‘dos and don’ts’, explains how you should handle medical and nutritional claims, and offers his expert advice on how you can confidently approach such matters in the future. Marketing your business online Digital promotion and social media are fantastic tools that can maximise your business, but there are still certain rules that should be considered when handling online content. Stuart explains why such rules exist and answers some of your questions regarding web-based content; this includes your concerns surrounding online shops, domain names and Facebook. Social media guidelines Social media continues to develop, and utilising it as a marketing tool can be of significant benefit to your business. However, it is important to be aware that certain behaviour must be adopted when using such public forums as a professional outlet. Across two video tutorials, Digital Marketing Team Leader and social media expert, Ronald Kafesu, offers an explanation of how social media platforms can be used as a means of advertising, and what you need to be aware of in order to keep posts compliant. Ron also outlines best practice and discusses some of the key areas that are considered within Forever’s Social Media Code of Conduct. All these videos can be shared with your team members and are useful for those who would benefit from regularly referring to a step-by-step guide. Head Office will also continue to add to these videos so make sure you keep an eye on YouTube and foreverknowledge.info via these links: YouTube – http://bit.ly/HowToFAQs Forever Knowledge – http://bit.ly/ForeverknowledgeFAQs Ronald Kafesu Digital Marketing Team Leader Marketing an MLM opportunity As a multi-level marketing company there are certain regulations that we are required to follow when releasing recruitment adverts into a public domain. This tutorial explains what we consider a recruitment advert and what key components should be included within the advert to ensure it is compliant. Stuart goes on to explain about the statutory wealth warning and how these adverts should be handled when released on social media. Forever | November 2015 18 RECOGNITION A DECADE IS A LONG TIME "You cannot force it – but just watch what happens when you help them achieve those first few goals." Forever | November 2015 Soaring Managers // Huw and Janette Harries Sponsor // Jayne Leach and John Curtis RECOGNITION 19 A decade is a long time, but in Forever Living it is a split second – or that’s how it seemed to Soaring Managers, Huw and Janette Harries… What was life like before Forever? Just over ten years ago we were highly paid directors in the newspaper industry; we loved our work and income, but it was no life. In spite of the stimulating pressure and daily excitement of the media industry, we knew we had to do something different, but we had no idea what, and no intention of taking any kind of risk with so many financial and family obligations – we had seen so many ‘great ideas’ fail as businesses. How did you discover Forever? There were, in reality, two discoveries: the opportunity itself, and the realisation of the enormity of what we had stumbled across. Both discoveries sprung from a small, interesting-looking advert we’d seen in a local newspaper. We were, of course, cautious; at first we did not like the concept or the business model, and we had no interest at all in the products, but there was something special about the person to whom we were talking. John Curtis was charming, did not take himself too seriously, modest, but most of all he seemed highly interested in us, and that’s what clinched it. We could see an ‘escape route’ with little risk; the only obligation on us was to put in some effort, which we were already doing in so many other areas. What was music to our ears was that we would be able to build our new business at a pace that suited us, and we could change that pace whenever we liked. And that, really, is all we’ve done! We worked at a rate that suited our priorities and commitments at the time. The demands on our lives and our family may have changed constantly, but the business and income continued to grow. What activities did you put in place to help develop your business? Our former roles were built around deadlines and urgency, and these were two keys aspects we made sure were in place with our teams. But, like most successful ventures – in business or sport for example – we knew that a consistent work rate was key. We also knew – from working all around the UK in various newspaper centres – that although there will always be local challenges and hurdles (changing competition and pricing etc.), enthusiasm and sustained effort will always produce good results. So while we, and our growing teams, had to learn new skills, beneath it all we’d set step-by-step goals and then we'd simply get to work. We were also experienced enough to know, in advance, that everything was not always going to go to plan; realising this in advance allows you to prepare mentally and ensure a contingency plan is in place. If there was something we got very wrong at the outset, it was that it took us far too long to shake off our hang ups about our previous industry; we needed to just accept that our sponsors, and the people around us, wanted to help for the most positive and pure reasons. You are ADDs for Wales; what does this role entail? In 2011 Bob Parker invited us to become ADDs in Wales. It was a compliment and a significant challenge. We needed to make sure we could give enough attention to our own business and tackle the impression held by some that ‘you cannot build a business in Wales’. Fire on my skin. Over the last few years the area has enjoyed incredible growth, and at one point (May 2013 to November 2014) we were Top UK Area for eighteen consecutive months – this was all down to the work, effort and sheer excitement that FBOs in Wales have generated. Our role in all this has simply been to ‘oil the wheels’; to ensure there is a culture of achievement, an exciting environment, and that everyone feels valued and important. What key advice do you give members of your team? At the outset, ‘setting our own pace’ was critical for us, and it is important we make sure that same condition is in place for the very special people in our group. For them it is not our pace, or the pace we may want for them, but the pace that is good for them. You cannot force it – but just watch what happens when you help them achieve those first few goals in their plans! Would you change your journey at all? Now looking back we shudder to think what our lives would have been like if we had not grasped that chance to give us our lives back. Was it easy? No. Did we make sacrifices along the way? Yes. Did every day go to plan? No! Was it worth it? An overwhelming, yes! Our lives are now so different and so much better, and we still have an exciting view of the future and of all the things we can now give to our children and grandchildren – and of course, ourselves. Forever has definitely turned out to be the thing we never knew we always wanted! Huw and Janette can now run their business from their holiday-home in Menorca. Forever | November 2015 20 A FOREVER LOVE STORY NICOLINE ARTURSSON: A FOREVER LOVE STORY "I started using the products and noticed how my skin improved." Forever | November 2015 A FOREVER LOVE STORY 21 Whether she’s on the red carpet, at champagne parties or at The Royal Ball, Nicoline Artursson, former Miss Sweden and Forever’s Flawless Ambassador, always has Forever products in her purse… Who is Nicoline Artursson? Nicoline grew up in Halmstad on the west coast of Sweden but moved to Paris to study when she was seventeen. One day, when she was having ice cream at a shopping mall, two people from an American clothing brand approached her and asked if she was interested in modelling. From that moment her world changed and in 2011 she was crowned Miss Sweden. She was eighteen years old at the time and went on to participate in the world finals in London where she secured a place in the top fifteen. In 2013, whilst at a champagne party during tennis week in Båstad, Sweden, Nicoline met Forever Sweden’s Country Manager, Fredric Alerstam. During their conversation, Nicoline’s curiosity surrounding Forever’s flawless by Sonya grew. She decided to try out some of the products and there was no turning back – she was in love. Making the switch “I started using the products and noticed how my skin improved,” Nicoline says. “I also followed the instructions for the Sonya Skincare Collection to the letter, both morning and evening, and now I´m completely in love.” Although Nicoline never really had any serious skin issues, she did tend to get pimples and impurities after photoshoots since she had to wear a lot of makeup. “These products have changed my skin; I can actually see the results. I will never replace these products with anything else,” Nicoline says. Reaching your customers “I participate in many events all over Europe and people often come up to me asking how I make my skin glow or how I put on my makeup. I gladly show them some products; the Delicious Lipstick and the Defining Lip Pencil for example.” Nicolineʼs friends are no exception, “My friends really love the lipsticks. Especially the Watermelon colour (406) – that’s very popular.” Nicoline is a firm believer that the most effective way of promoting products is by meeting people face to face: “On a picture you might think they have been Photoshopped, but when youʼre out talking to people they can see the results for themselves. Of course, having an Instagram account with lots of followers is still an advantage when you want to sell products, but I believe in showing that the product actually works.” Nicoline’s favorite products 01. Cream to Powder Foundation – Vanilla Bisque / 384: This is one of the best products I’ve ever used. 04. Sonya Aloe Balancing Cream / 280 05. 02. Sonya Aloe Nourishing Serum / 281: Perfect for dry spots on your forehead and by the base of the nose. 03. 06. Aloe Purifying Cleanser / 277 Delicious Lipstick – Watermelon / 406: Itʼs so nourishing; itʼs almost like lip balm. 07. Perfect Pair Eyeshadow – Sand Dune / 397: The lighter shade gives you a beautiful glow when used as a highlighter on your cheekbones. 08. Defining Lip Pencil – Nude / 420 Flawless Master Brush Collection / 10188 Forever | November 2015 22 RECOGNITION STEP UP AS A LEADER Sapphire Manager // Lisa Prescott Sponsor // Emma Cooper Forever | November 2015 RECOGNITION 23 Sapphire Manager Lisa Prescott could see the potential of the Marketing Plan, but she also knew that she would have to work hard and step up as a leader in order to move her business forward… How did you get involved with Forever? My journey started in December 2013 when I was a detective for Greater Manchester Police and thirty-one weeks pregnant with my second child. I joined the police at eighteen and, at the time, I could never imagine doing anything else – I certainly wasn't looking for anything new. However, when I was shown the Forever opportunity I saw a way of boosting my maternity pay, which meant I wouldn’t have to rush back to work and worry about paying for childcare. How did you approach the Marketing Plan? When I saw what Forever had to offer I wanted it all, and I knew that I was prepared to work hard for it. I’d never thought that being a stay-at-home mum was a possibility as I just couldn’t afford it. When I started my business I just got my head down and worked the cycle with a massive sense of urgency. It was my goal to hit Manager before my baby arrived – and I did. For me, Manager was just the start, and it was about creating a stable income for my family. I did not slow down but continued working my business every single day; the results showed and I achieved Senior Manager in less than twelve months and Soaring Manager in fifteen – my mum was my fifth Manager which was really special. Sapphire Manager was my first huge goal, not only because of the GEM bonus, but because I now feel that my business is stable. My journey to Sapphire took nineteen months overall but it came at a busy time in my life: I gave birth to my son, Stanley, I was already mummy to my five year old, princess Evie, as well as being step mum to my teenagers George and Emily. On top of all this my husband worked a varied and unsocial full-time shift pattern in the police. What did you put in place to enable you to achieve these promotions? I knew that I wanted to build my business quickly and that I would have to step up as a leader, and I have always tried to support everyone in my team no matter where they are in the country. Part of the initial growth was because I implemented home Business Presentations; this meant I could support the team in the very early stages, when they were still learning how to share the opportunity. This grew at a rapid rate so we quickly ran out of room and I now run a very successful Business Presentation in Manchester; this has massively impacted the growth across the team. What is the best thing about being a Forever Business Owner? I love that this business is for everyone. The model definitely works and I literally tell everyone about what I do because I want to help people achieve more than what I have. I have made some life-long friends and love being surrounded by like-minded people who want to create a better future for their families. I am no different to anyone else; my success is down to sheer determination as I wanted to make a huge difference to my family, I have never made excuses and I want to make sure my children can look back in years to come and be proud of what mummy has created. Social media, in particular Facebook, has played a massive part in the growth of my business. It has allowed me to make new and everlasting friendships, whilst enabling me to reconnect with friends and colleagues from yesteryear. I have enjoyed working with the team that I have built and I have created a sense of togetherness and belonging; everybody is willing to help out when needed and this is an ethos I was not used to in my previous career. I don’t feel that I have even really started with my achievements yet – this is only just the start of my journey. My aim now is all about helping and developing others and watching my friends create the life of their dreams. for any Forever Business Owner. By learning the principles essential to being an Eagle, FBOs can build a sustainable business and use best practices to drive them forward. It is also a stepping-stone to qualifying for another great Forever incentive – Chairman’s Bonus! Our 2015 Eagle Managers arrived at the beautiful Moon Palace Golf Resort and Spa for two days of life-changing training. After registering and getting checked in, Eagle Managers received a special message from Chairman and CEO Rex Maughan, before having the opportunity to have their picture taken with him on stage. Day one of training kicked off with a powerful message from President Gregg Maughan about challenging yourself to accept the new normal in Forever – quick and unprecedented growth! Gregg reminded the room that everyone can achieve their goals in Forever with planning, dedication and hard work. Emma Cooper is a testament to this new reality: she only began her business in 2014 and she’s already presented at the EMR, as a Sapphire Manager, to about 1,300 eager Eagle Managers. Emma shared what it’s like to live a day in her life so FBOs learned the details in the daily tasks that have brought her so much success, but, as Emma explained, “We’ve all been given the same tools – we all have access to the same trainings and products. There’s no reason we can’t achieve the same success!” Another successful FBO from the UK, Becky Deeley, gave Eagle Managers powerful tips on how to build a brand and be authentic, honest and real as they interact with prospects. Forever | November 2015 In addition to hearing about best practices from leaders, Eagle Managers also had the opportunity to gain insight into the inner workings of the company from Garin Breinholt, Executive Vice President of the Americas. Andrew O’Hare, Executive Vice President of Digital Technologies, also announced the unveiling of the newly redesigned foreverliving.com. His in-depth workshop provided an inside look at FLP360° as he explained the power of having the business right at your fingertips. One of the most powerful moments took place at Aidan O’Hare’s kitchen table – right on our stage! Aidan, our Executive Vice President of Europe and Marketing, sat down with three of Forever’s highly esteemed Global Leadership Team to discuss their lives and Forever businesses. The inspiring members of the GLT shared some of their secrets to success, including how they achieved Chairman’s Bonus and what it’s like to work with the company to improve the Forever Opportunity. Finally, after two days of training and inspiration, it was time to celebrate the accomplishment of all of our Eagle Managers with the Viva Forever Beach Party. Everyone danced the night away to music from a live band and DJ while enjoying delicious food and reflecting on the amazing experience they had in Cancun. EAGLE MANAGERSʼ RETREAT 29 Through the eyes of an Eagle… Manager Toby Acton, who started his business in 2012 along with his partner, Donna Gold, shared a little bit about what it was like for him at this year’s Eagle Managers' Retreat in Cancun: “It was our first time qualifying for the Eagle Managers' Retreat, but when we joined Forever we were always encouraged to go for Eagle because it opens you up for everything else. And the retreat itself was just outstanding and totally exceeded our expectations. From a training point of view it was absolutely amazing. There were so many fantastic speakers and sessions, but also the opportunity to just mix with other FBOs – the superstars of Forever – and people from all over the world, was incredible. It really was unbelievable to have the chance to spend time with them; to listen to them and hear their philosophy and attitude to business – it made it so worthwhile. EMR definitely gave us a clearer vision of what we want to go on to achieve through our business.” "We were always encouraged to go for Eagle because it opens you up for everything else. And the retreat itself was just outstanding and totally exceeded our expectations." – Toby Acton, Manager Aim for Eagle Eagle Managers' Retreat is not just an opportunity to travel to beautiful destinations all over the world, but it’s a chance to learn from Forever’s leaders. The high-level trainings will help propel you to the next level in your businesses. We may have closed the curtains on EMR15, but we are already looking to the future and look forward to seeing many more Eagle Managers next year in Costa Navarino, Greece. It’s still not too late to qualify so make sure you visit the incentives page on foreverknowledge.info to find out how. These adverts have been designed for you to use across your own online platforms. The adverts cover some of the core retailing areas, including Aloe Vera Gel, Animal Care, flawless by Sonya, Sonya Skincare, supplements and the F.I.T. programme. There are also several designs and size options to choose from within each of the categories. These adverts are now available to download from foreverknowledge.info or you can buy printed versions from forever.webstore.uk.com. All Forever Business Owners will be required to market Forever products using these new company supplied adverts instead of creating their own. This will ensure brand consistency and minimise any concerns over releasing potentially uncompliant material. Therefore, from December 1st 2015, the Compliance department will cease to approve any product adverts that have been created by FBOs; however, the team will still be available to offer their advice on recruitment and business related advertisements. NEW ALOE MATTERS The latest issue of Aloe Matters, our consumer-facing magazine, is now available via the order line, product centres and foreverliving.com. The magazine is an excellent tool that presents Forever products to your customers in fun and relatable way. We suggest you give a copy to your current customers, but also share the content with those who are interested in learning more about Forever products. It is also a fantastic tool to give to prospects that you want to share the business with, but in a way that isn’t an obvious hard-sale. Aloe Matters is sold as a pack of ten and retails for £3.50 per pack. It is also available digitally to subscribers of foreverknowledge.info. Aloe Matters: Issue 14 | £3.50 (pack of 10) | Code: 1452 TICKET DOWNLOAD ISSUE Please be aware that you may experience technical issues if you are trying to download tickets from foreveruktickets.co.uk via an iPhone or iPad. Tickets are available to download in zip format but these will only open on iPhone or iPads if you have an app installed that is designed to open this file type. If not, we advise that you download tickets onto an alternative device. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. INTRODUCING HEAD OFFICE... Sophie Taylor Time at Forever: Five months Job role and brief explanation of what you do: As Events Assistant I help to plan, organise and work on all the main events that Head Office hold, but I am also responsible for looking after all the in-house training sessions that are held at Head Office, Milton Keynes Product Centre and the London Product Centre. This involves travelling to these locations, setting up the training and supporting the Advisory Board throughout the day. I also deal with the Events Office admin; this includes purchase orders, loyalty cards, contracts, invoices, etc. No day is ever the same and I’m always very busy – but I love it! What did you do before Forever? I worked for a company called Pumpkin Events – a venuedressing company for Weddings, Corporate events, student balls, etc. I spent my days dealing with enquiries, meeting clients, having consultations to help design the event and I also worked the event itself. My job was to make sure everything was perfect; from the build to the break down. What are your favourite Forever products and why? Our Aloe Vera Gel – I drink it twice a day and feel great for it! What would you do if you were given £1 million today? Buy a new house (a very big one), take all my family and friends to Necker Island for a holiday and, with the change, I would buy as many Mulberry handbags and Jimmy Choos that I could afford! What would you cook if you were to throw a dinner party? I love to cook so we are known for throwing dinner parties at home. A menu that always goes down a treat with our friends is: Scallops on pea puree and crispy pancetta Beef Wellington with potato Dauphinoise Vanilla cheesecake Who inspires you and why? Audrey Hepburn is my idol! The way she lived her life and the things she accomplished were very inspiring. Plus, she had amazing style! December & New Year opening & delivery times Please note predicted delivery dates are based on orders placed before the 3pm cut off.
