Sorry to have been off the internet for so long but life keeps getting in the way as Bill and I both
fit in some travel and enjoy more time with family and friends. This will be a brief update of
October happenings. Please let me know if you have information you would like posted for
November or December.
Local Boards and Committees (www.townofdorchester.net) for updated
information on Town of Dorchester activities. All meetings held in Dorchester Town Hall
unless otherwise noted. Remember the website also has useful information on what is
happening around town, official forms and connections to area non profits. The Dorchester
Calendar also includes activities of local nonprofits such as the Grange
Dorchester Select Board continues to meets every two weeks on Thursday evenings October
9 and 23 at 6:30pm in the Town Hall. Please contact Select Board Administrative Assistant,
Holly Ann Buker at 786-9476 to add items to Agenda. Current Select Board members are
Sherman Hallock (Chairperson), Artie Burdette and Maria Weick. All members of the public are
reminded that Select Board meetings are open and all are welcome to observe. However, public
input is limited to specific times set aside by Chairman.
Dorchester Historic District and Heritage Commission will meet May 6 at 7pm
Cemetery Committee meets quarterly or as needed. The next meeting will be Tuesday,
October 7 at 6pm in the Town Hall. Please contact a Cemetery Trustee with questions or

Dorchester Planning Board will meet on Wednesday, Oct 8th at 7:15pm.
Dorchester Conservation Commission will meet Tuesday, Oct 21st at 7pm
Dorchester Historic Society Board will meet Oct 21 at 6pm. All members and the public
are invited to attend.
Help Needed Dorchester Historic Society looking for helpers to move furniture and boxes
from Town Hall to School House on Friday Oct 10th at noon. All helpers welcome. Contact

Kid’s Day at D Acres, Saturday, October 11th, 1-4pm “Let’s make a
RECYCLED MONSTER COSTUME!” Cardboard, egg cartons, old fabric, bark, pine
cones, tin cans! You Name it, we can make something funny and frightful for a great costume!
$5 suggested donation per child. Parents & caretakers are encouraged to stay and participate.

FREE FALL CLASSES
The Whole Village is starting to offer this Fall FREE classes for adults in the community.
The range from Prenatal Preparations to Managing Your Money to Cooking and Starting Your
Own Business plus many more. The Exchange connects community members in a learning
space with resources that inspire personal growth, family strength, and community engagement.

5 Week Yoga Series will begin on Monday, October 20th. This Beginner/Gentle
Yoga class through the Mascoma Valley Parks & Recreation. This 5 Week Yoga Series will be
held at the Indian River School in Canaan, NH (behind Mascoma High School) on Mondays
from 3:45 - 4:45 pm. This series is ideal for beginners and those wanting to reconnect with the
basics of their practice. This slower paced class will also serve as an
introduction to the fundamentals of yoga to help you gain the confidence,
strength and flexibility needed to further your practice. Students will
explore basic standing and seated postures, learn proper breathing
techniques, and correct alignment and relaxation methods.
Cost & Days Offered: These classes will be offered Monday from 3:45 - 4:45 pm at Indian River
School in Canaan, NH starting Monday, October 20th. The cost is $60 for all 5 sessions or $12 to
drop in. $55 for students and seniors (age 60 and
older). The classes will be held in the Music Room at Indian River School.
How do I enroll? To enroll email [email protected] and you can pay at the first session
via cash or check.
What if I can't attend all classes? Drop-Ins will be welcome at the rate of $12 per class as long as
we don't max out.
What do I need to bring? You will be required to bring your own yoga mat. Wear comfortable
clothing and water. If you need a yoga mat, email Nicole and she can bring a mat to
purchase for $19.99.
Can the public attend? This class was designed with teachers in mind, however anyone can
attend!
Palette Creation Fundraiser for Artistic Roots Is Underway
Over twenty of the Artistic Roots artisans have created amazing palettes which will be auctioned
off on October 23rd at the Common Man in Plymouth, NH from 6 -9 pm.
Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at Artistic Roots, 73 Main Street in Plymouth.

Thursday, October 15th, Cooking through the Seasons
Every third Thursday of the month, Regina opens the beautiful D Acres' kitchen to welcome
folks who are interested in learning more about cooking with seasonal ingredients. This casual
workshop will take participants everywhere, from the root cellar to the garden, seeing what's on
hand to create a delicious seasonal menu. Participants will cook together and dine together.
Class begins at 5:30pm
$8 fee, please call ahead
Saturday, October 25, “Saturday Volunteer Day” Come on out and help with work
on the farm! Delicious home cooked lunch provided. Pre-registration required -- contact

Sunday, October 26, 4 to 7pm “Nose to Tail Porcine Tasting” A celebration
of whole-animal cookery at D Acres of New Hampshire. With a special
performance at 5pm of Modern Times Theatre. Please contact D Acres to sign

Friday, October 31stth Pot Luck and Open Mic
Pot Luck supper begins at 6pm and Open Mic at 8pm. Bring a dish of your bountiful
harvest or special recipe and enjoy an evening on the farm.
Sunday, Nov 2, Farm Feast Breakfast From 10am - 1pm
The best local All-YouShould-Eat breakfast in the area, featuring pancakes made with Vermont flour, local maple syrup
, eggs, meat, potatoes, and greens; and fair-trade coffee from Cafe Monte Alto (Plymouth, NH).

Open Trails
Throughout the year, our miles of woodland trails are open for your enjoyment on the first
Sunday of the month! Join us at 1pm for our Open Trails- snowshoe or cross-country ski in the

fauna, *Please Do Not Bring Your Pets*
