Dear Residents, Families and Staff,
Communication among loved ones is always
important; when the option to hold a video chat from
your computer first became available several years ago,
long before iPhones and iPads, the video quality was
very poor, and the picture kept freezing, and pixelating.
It was frustrating to hold a conversation with someone
on video call. Today, with vast improvements in
technology , you can have a valuable face-to-face
conversation with someone halfway around the world with good picture quality!
The members of our communities that we serve today didn't grow up with computers,
and most of them don’t know what you can do on a computer or what the internet is! But
that doesn't stop them from being amazed, grateful, curious, and down right happy when
they see their family face to face on live video chat that can be accomplished over the
internet!
So with the holiday season quickly approaching, I am encouraging our family members to
stay in touch with your loved ones here at Wilton Manors. If you are so fortunate and can
get your loved ones a device that video chat is adaptable with get it and login to our free
wifi here in the facility. Our Activity Department can provide the written steps to creating
an account with Skype or Facetime and you don’t have to feel guilty about not making it
on a holiday, because your loved one will still get to wish you a happy one wherever you
are!

The Resident Council has
selected Ms. Florence Savoy as
the Member of the Month for
October. Ms. Savoy has been a
member of the Wilton Manors
Community for 4 years. She was
born and raised in Dickson City,
Pennsylvania. She started and
owner her business “Home For
the Elderly,” a business she
retired from after 30 years. Her
hobbies are reading, bingo,
games and movies. She is
working towards her goal of
walking out of here and we are
in strong support of this!

Associate of the Month
Congratulations to Mrs. Lori
Robinson, in housekeeping
for being elected our
Associate of the Month for
October 2014.
Mrs. Robinson, has been a
member of the Wilton
Manors team for 3 and a half years now and continues to
provide residents and fellow staff exceptional service
quality. Her rapid response to the call of duty and attention
to detail, alone makes each individual resident’s stay a
fantastic personalized experience, by getting the job done
right!
Lori, is definitely an essential part of the team and member
of our community! Keep up the great work Lori!
August Hawaiian Luau
On August 28th, our Activity Department hosted a fun-filled Luau for members and
associates to commemorate the anniversary of Hawaii’s admittance to the U.S.
The Luau was a major treat with authentic Luau dancers and Polynesian fire dancer! If you
missed it check it out, and for those that attended here is your chance to relive the
experience!

….and Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life. And he went from year to year in
circuit to Bethel, Gilgal and Mizpeh and Judged Israel in all these places.
-1 Samuel 7:15-16 KJV
The book od 1 Samuel is the Bible’s leadership
manual. The first portion of the book centers on
Samuel himself, a dedicated leader; and the last
portion focuses on young David, a developing
leader.
When it comes to Samuel, he was launched by a
mother’s prayers, and in childhood he learned to
pray these words when the Lord called him.
Samuel answered, “speak for thy servant heareth.
As he grew, the Lord was with him and let none of
words fall to the ground. All Israel knew he had
been established as the Lord’s prophet (1 Samuel
3:10 ; 19-20 KJV)
All his days, Samuel dealt with aggravating people
and problems while traveling a continuous circuit
from town to town. He settled disputes,
established order and taught God’s word. Finally
after age caught up with him and he devoted his
final days to a quiet ministry of prayer and
teaching.
If Samuel ever had a midlife crisis, he doubted his
calling, he didn’t show it. If he faced discouraging
days he overcame them. If he wanted to quit, he
rested in the Lord and plunged back into the work.
He served our heavenly Father all the days of his
life.
Have you been going around in a circuit, dealing
with aggravation? Feel like having a midlife crisis or
nervous breakdown; all because of stress? God
measures success by faithfulness, and he bestows
fresh layers of mercy as we try to serve him day by
day, all the days of our lives.
W.O.W Resident of the Quarter
Michael DeMaio
This quarter, the residents' and staff have agreed that Mr. Michael DeMaio is
undoubted the W.O.W. resident of the quarter! He is a fixture in our facility and
one of our most active members. He can be found in the gym or in his room
watching movies on DVD and eating pizza. Michael acts a the local comedian; as
he teases staff daily and always has a joke to tell.
He is an all around great guy and true friend. He will continue to W.O.W us and we’re glad to have such a
wonderfully positive member of our community.!

Greystone Gets Iced!

Greystone is committed to worthwhile causes, and
this past month supported ALS through the Ice
Bucket Challenge sweeping the nation.
The ALS challenge is issued when individuals or
organizations pour a bucket of ice water over their
head(s) and challenge others do the same or make a
donation to fight ALS within twenty-four hours. You
may have seen organizations or famous individuals
taking the challenge as well as donating—increasing
support and publicity for the cause.

ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a
progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects
nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The
progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in
ALS leads to paralysis and even death.
We challenged our facilities to donate and
participate in this phenomenon. For each facility
that took the challenge, Greystone made a donation
in their name to the cause. Check out some of our
