will help to stop the revolving door tendency, and result
in a growing adherence to the church.

Nashville Baptist Association Annual meeting these
stats were shared with us…
October Benevolence
Hunger--Haiti

Hunger is around all year but here
at Crievewood we emphasize more
giving during this month. We have
chosen to give the October Benevolence Offering to the
Heart of Worship in Haiti and this Sunday the 12th is
the designated Sunday. Please give generously.
 $5 feeds 1 student for a month
 $60 feeds 1 student for a year
It only takes 200 people giving $5 a month to feed the
entire school. At present only half the amount of money
needed for the year has been raised. We will continue
collecting money for the entire month. If you would like
to write a check, please put “October Benevolence” on
the by-line. Please be a part of the solution for these
children.

Thank You
A Special Thank You to everyone who helped make this
year’s Community Block Party a huge success! The
estimated total attendance was between 576-600
people. We know that in the Sno-cone trailer alone we
used 210 pounds of ice to make 345 Sno-balls and gave
out 189 cups of Lemonade! The Laotians prepared and
served 1,500 eggrolls. Our cooks who hovered over the
charcoal all day grilled just under 900 hamburgers and
hotdogs combined. Praise be to God for the beautiful
weather and great turnout!

I want to share our experience of delivering the items
collected during VBS Christmas in July/August with all of
you, our church family. The best way to do this is a few
short articles in the Update.
West Virginia , Part 4 - Some Surprising Facts
 More coal mines are closing in October, many
parents will be out of work.
 The only tithers at HarborLight Church are the pastor
and his wife.
 The children are fed every time they come to church,
many families get monthly food boxes. The Sunday
night we were there the 6 adults served biscuits,
sausage, gravy and cleaned up after 30 kids.
 The children are picked up from school on Tuesdays
for homework and fun times at the church. The boys
particularly love basketball.
 There are services at the church Sunday mornings,
evenings and Wednesdays.
 The older kids have gone on a mission trip to share
Jesus with others
 Pastor James and Grace are no spring chickens and
Pastor James has some health problems but they
are very willing to be used by God in this place.

Heart of Worship Ministry

Food provided by the Heart of Worship
lunch program includes rice and beans
with the traditional Haitian red sauce,
fish and cornmeal. Your World Hunger
gift this month will help Carolyn Evey and HOW provide
one healthy meal a day for children attending school in
Haiti. For most of these students, this is their only
consistent hot meal. Not only are they healthier because
they are eating but they can stay awake during lessons,
remember more of what they are learning, laugh and
play as children should and look forward to coming to
school with their friends. Thank you for helping children
living in poverty grow and thrive in Haiti.
