Colonel Harland Sanders was fired from a variety of jobs throughout his career before he first
started cooking chicken in his roadside Shell Service Station in 1930, when he was 40 years
old, during the Great Depression. His gas station didn’t actually have a restaurant, so he

We pray for the Pope and the college of bishops as they endeavour to be good stewards of the financial
resources entrusted to them. That they weigh heavily what belongs to governments of the day and
what belongs to the people of God.
Joke of the Week
A carpenter who had been stealing timber from his boss for years finally went to
confession. “I’m a carpenter, Father, and i have stolen a lot of timber from my boss.”
The priest said, “For your penance I’d like you to make a novena.”
The carpenter answered, “I’ve never made one before, Father, but if you’ve got the plans
I’ve got the timber.”
We pray for those gathered here that each day they find new ways to put their faith into action, both in
their community, but also working towards personally becoming better disciples.
We pray for people who are new to their faith, that they find places and people where their spiritual
journey will be nourished and protected

Details on the Parish Notice Board
After much discussion between members of the Parish Council and the Liturgy
Committee, the decision was made to relocate the Tabernacle from the side of
the Sanctuary to a position behind the Altar.
The reasoning behind this decision is twofold, one practical the other theological.
The practical reason is centred on liturgical movement on the sanctuary which is
unnecessary and awkward. Situating the Tabernacle behind the Altar reduces
the amount of unnecessary movement on the sanctuary.
The theological reason for moving the Tabernacle behind the Altar is to ensure
that proper focus and attention is given to the Eucharistic Altar around which the
people of God gather together for the celebration of the Eucharist. Attention
should be drawn to the Altar of which the Tabernacle is simply an extension. In
this way the tabernacle adds to the importance of the Altar and does not in any
way detract from the importance of the Altar.
