‘Opening Minds, Opening Doors’ —
VSA Texas host the class series promoting
“Self-Advocates as Speakers” 9 a.m. to noon
Saturdays, through Oct. 4, at Region 19
Education Service Center, 6611 Boeing. Selfadvocates with developmental disabilities, ages
18 and up are invited to participate. Each participant will write a personal story and develop
the presentation skills needed to deliver it in

Pagan Pride Day — Las Cruces Pagan
Pride Day Council hosts its celebration 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Young Park,

Crimes Against the Elderly
Conference - Adult Protective Services and
the El Paso County Attorney will host the 7th
annual conference 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Region 19 MultiPurpose Center, 11670 Chito Samaniego.
Keynote speaker is Cory Chalmers of A&C’s
“Hoarders” program. The event will features
guest speakers on a variety of topics. The conference is free with a donation of fan, blanket
or personal hygiene items to the APS Silver

Document shredding — Better Business
Bureau’s free paper shredding event is 9 a.m.

Immigration Convocation — The convo-
cation on immigration is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday,
Oct. 11, in front of Annunciation House, 1003
E. San Antonio, organized by a coalition of
faith, human rights, professional and community
groups to call for humane immigration policies.
There will be music, theater, speakers, and
short films. Participants are asked to bring a
candle with them for a closing candlelight ceremony.

Mark Swinney — The Christian Science
healing practitioner and teacher will host a lecture on prayer and healing 2 to 4 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 11, at Rio Grande Theatre, 211

with people and empowering people to pray

Riverside Alumni Homecoming events
— Riverside High School Alumni Association

culminating with the Homecoming game Friday
