The UrbanWater system integrates robust technologies already operative in the European energy sector or in other sectors together with innovative developments Find out more about this innovative EU co-funded project and sign up for notifications and updates at: www.urbanwater-ict.eu urbanwater smart water Improving the efficiency of water management in Europe! This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no. 318602. www.urbanwater-ict.eu The UrbanWater project includes the following objectives About the project The UrbanWater project aims to develop and demonstrate an innovative modular ICT system and service for Water utilities to smooth water consumption peaks through adaptive pricing and user empowerment solutions. The System will enable better end to-end water management in urban areas. This objective will be achieved by developing a modular, open and flexible system. Customer Empowerment Tools Unified User Interface Pricing & Billing CUSTOMER EMPOWERMENT Management & Monitoring Cloud Database Smart Metering This System offers various services developed by different companies: The Consortium: 3 Water Utilities 6 SME’s 2 Large Companies 11 Partners DATA MANAGEMENT Design and deployment of a robust single cloud platform able to store and process large amounts of data. This cloud database will meet the needs for operating water distribution networks and smart meters (AMR). DECISION SUPPORTING TOOLS Develop a water demand prediction system and a novel detailed consumption model. Develop a water availability prediction system. Develop a spatial decision support system (SDSS). Develop a leakages detection system based on hybrid methodology. Decision Support System UrbanWater System MULTIPROTOCOL GATEWAY Development of a multi-protocol and a multi meter-gateway prototype. 1 University 8 Countries Develop and set up an on-line platform to allow customers monitor their water consumptions. Develop a set of serious games to reinforce customers’ empowerment. Develop an adaptive pricing system. Develop an automatic and dynamic billing system. CORE PLATFORM Develop a set of interfaces to offer communication between the different modules composing the UrbanWater System. Design and develop the UrbanWater core platform. Simplify the access from the different services to a single point of storage. Creation of an Open Source ICT cloud platform for water utilities contributed by many entities. Cloud Billing Market - PMR Market Insight Report 2015 to 2021
Cloud billing is the method of generating bills from the resource usage data using a set of predefined billing policies. Depending on the cloud computing general policies, the bill can either be for real money or it can refer to an abstract notion of exchange. It provides solutions for digital and non-digital cloud services. Cloud services are those which are made available to the users through internet from cloud computing provider’s servers. These services are wholly managed by the cloud services provider and are designed to provide easy, scalable access to applications, services and resources. There are three types of cloud services namely platform as a service, infrastructure as a service and software as a service.
