16TH ANNUAL YOUTH MEAT GOAT SHOW

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Fairgrounds will be open for animals after 12 Noon on Friday, November 7, 2014. All meat goats must be
on the grounds and processed on November 8, 2014 between 7:30 and 8:30 AM. Exhibitors must be
present at processing of the meat goat to be eligible to show
2. Competition is for market meat goats. All breeds and crossbreeds of goats are eligible for competition.
3. Entry fees of $4.00 per head. Pen fees are $5.00 per pen, and are due with your entry fees. Please state
the number of pens needed on your entry form. Exhibitors will no longer be required to clean their pens
before leaving the fairgrounds. The deadline for registration forms and entry fees is October 1, 2014.
Late registration will be accepted until October 15, 2014 with doubled entry fees. No entries will be
accepted after October 15, 2014. Any entries received after this date will be returned. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Entry fees and the “Ag Fees Payment Form” must accompany the entry form.
4. All goats must possess milk teeth and weigh a minimum of 35 pounds to be eligible to show in the meat
goat show.
5. All entries must be submitted on official entry forms and mailed to: National Peanut Festival, 5622 US
Hwy 231 South, Dothan, AL 36301. For more information, contact Jason Bryant at work (334) 585-2065

6. Wethers or does from any breed or crossbreed will be eligible to show.
7. All animals will be exhibited at the owner’s risk. Feed and care are the responsibility of the owner and/or
exhibitor.
8. Any exhibitor, or owner, in any way involved in showing a fraudulent entry will automatically forfeit all
prize money won by himself or his farm and will be barred from future participation in this show.
9. Prize money will be mailed from the National Peanut Festival office. Please put a complete mailing
address on your entry form. All winners are required to supply their Social Security Number to the NPF
office in order to process premium checks. No premium money will be issued to winners without this
information.
10. An exhibitor must show their own animal in each class entered unless that exhibitor has more than one
animal in that particular class. Another youth must show the other entry.
11. Showmanship will begin at 9:00 AM. Classes are based on ages as of January 1, 2014 and will show as
follows:
1. 14 years & older
2. 9 – 13 years old
3. 8 years & younger
12. Animals will be released immediately after the show.
13. All goats exhibited must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within 30 days of
the show date by an accredited veterinarian, certifying the animal to be free of visible signs of contagious
and/or infectious diseases.
14. The Show Committee will check Certificates of Veterinarian Inspection upon check-in.
15. Competition is open to all youth who are 4 years old and not more than 2 years out of high school.
16. There will be five (5) classes by weight in the Meat Goat Show.
17. Exhibitors will receive notification that entries have been received. Passes & tickets will be available at
the Ag gate when you arrive for check-in. AFTER UNLOADING, ALL TRAILERS MUST BE MOVED TO THE
DESIGNATED PARKING AREA. THOSE LEFT UNATTENDED WILL BE TOWED.
*The National Peanut Festival Association reserves the right to make and post rule changes as needed.
